Avoid at all cost!

Avoid at all cost!! Fraud! Adam Newton the director has done the same with many of his companies. He takes peoples money, cancels the events, and no refunds! He also doesn't pay his suppliers, but he thinks this is funny. Stay well away from any company he is involved in !!

I signed up, cancelled event, no compensation!

I signed up for the wildflower triathlon which was cancelled. This was supposed to be on the 18th of June 2023, and was supposed to be transferable or carried over to this year. I've never had my £79.61 back. I can't do a chargeback as it was too long ago. Very upsetting I'll never be compensated now.

Tough Runner/Let's Do This Bucks Duathlon

Signed up for the Bucks Duathlon a couple of years back. It was cancelled so was told i could transfer to another event. Signed up for the Bucks Duathlon this year, entry transferred across as it was being run by Lets Do This. All good. Event gets cancelled. I can no longer get refunded as the code i had from Tough Runner was 100% discount, therefore, the purchase price with Lets Do This is £0. I now can't get any response from Tough Runner and lost out on about £50. I know it's not there fault but Lets Do This aren't even attempting to help even though they must see where my original entry came from

SCAM - do not trust this company

I marshalled at the Bristol triathlon and all seemed initially OK, if a little disorganised. I was told that I would receive £50 and they emailed a few days after the event requesting bank details. This money never materialised despite me messaging them numerous times. The first few times they replied with excuses and promises that they would pay soon, but then they just started to ignore thr messages. Not only did I lose out on the £50 at a time when money is so tight, but I felt humiliated by repeatedly grovelling for the payment - something I would not have done if it wasn't so badly needed. A really untrustworthy company which I would avoid at all costs.

Tough runner is the worst…

Tough runner is probably the worst experience I have had. They stole my money after cancelling 3 races and never reimbursed me. Do not use them at all. Scammers

Cancelled Glynneath Boxing Day 5 mile run

A terribly managed company. Tough runner cancelled the Glynneath Boxing Day 5 mile run 2023 I signed up to for me and my partner.
Although I found out that eventually that tough runner had gone into liquidation on the same day I paid for my entries they were still selling tickets many weeks after with adverts of the event pushed on social media.
I find out 14th December that Tough Runner had cancelled the event and since then the event has changed to The Glynneath "Tubby TRUST Scaffolding" Festive 5. This is now under completely different management with no involvement of Tough Runner. Therefore the new organiser has confirmed, NOT tough runner, that my paid entries are not transferable for this event and said that I would have to buy additional entries to participate. Tough runner are not contactable since their website is disabled. However I received a blanket email from the tough runner director through a generic admin account basically blaming others with no mentions of refunds.

This experience has put me off signing up to big events. From reading reports and reviews online about the company it's clear that there's foul play. Adam Newton (tougher runner's director) is the name that keeps coming up as an untrustworthy person. I hope justice is serviced and that I'm able to get my money back.

SCAM COMPANY- beware of Adam Newton !!

Beware of Adam Newton as he is a scammer and a conman. Has a history of taking money for events and then 'rescheduling' at short notice. I say in quotations because the events never end up happening and they state no refunds so you will never see your money again. He has now shut down Tough Runner UK, and runs 'Run Afan Forest Ltd' continuing to do the same scam. Don't know how he sleeps at night knowing he has scammed all these innocent people, many of whom run these marathon events for charity. Shame on you Adam Newton and Tough Runner/Run Afan - despicable behaviour

Tough Runner applied for Winding Up…

Tough Runner applied for Winding Up back in April 23, and we're granted it in Sept. Run Afan Forest rose, phoenix like, from the ashes, and turned out to be hot air.

They've folded with hundreds of pounds of my and my partner's money in entry fees for races, zero communication, a notification on the website blaming everybody else, and a vague intention to give everybody race credits.

I sincerely hope Adam Newton's next poo is a reversed porcupine.

Race cancelled 4 days before

Race cancelled 4 days before. Zero communication before this. It seems the organiser has a pattern of doing this. It’s such a shame to find this kind of attitude towards racers in what is a great community of runners, duathletes and triathletes.

DO NOT SIGN UP TO ANY RACES

This company and the owner Adam Newton are not to be trusted.
He cancelled the race, with a promise to either refund or another race. I requested a refund, but have heard nothing since, despite two emails and several unanswered phone calls.
It turns out that his company is being wound up, and he is nothing short of a con artist.
DO NOT GIVE TOUGH RUNNER YOUR MONEY!

Do not trust Ran Afan or Adam Newton

Do not book an event organised by Run Afan (or the previous incarnation - Tough Runner), they consistently cancel events at short notice and do not provide refunds.

The consistent element in all of this is an individual called Adam Newton. He is a director of both companies and is the chief communicator for all events. Adam is in my view not trust worthy. He promises refunds and never provides, blames others for cancelling events and tells people who wish for a refund that he is going to report them to the police for Financial Harrassment.

Do yourself a favour and have no dealings with this company or Adam Newton.

Falkirk Half cancelled

Just had an email cancelling the Falkirk Half Marathon for this Sunday with the organiser citing ill health. Strangely enough no run numbers have been sent out, or pre ordered race tshirts. Starting to look like we've all been scammed. Adam Newton has recently become insolvent through Tough Runner but is also the name behind the company who took over.

Falkirk half marathon

Cancelled with 4 days until race after everyone training all year heading into it. Reason was 2 people ill. I'm sorry if upwards of 1k people judging by 2022 standards have signed up for an event then 2 organisers being ill shouldn't be enough to cancel it with no rescheduled date but no option to get a refund. Really poor and it seems company has form for it. What a disgusting way to run a company.

Scamming scumbags

The Falkirk half marathon was postponed four days out with no sign of refund or mention of any refund. Seems to be a scam. 'Organiser' emailed notification of cancellation, citing he has tonsilitis, so the whole event must be postponed. Also, he states another member of his 'team' is in hospital. All seems like a load of nonsense and a scam. Adam Newton appears to be the name associated with Tough Runner/ Run AFAN.

Avoid any bookings with these scammers. Fingers crossed, they get what they deserve.
