From what I can tell Treedom does just what you expect them to do: plant trees supporting the local communities involved in their projects. They regularly send me proof of that through pictures and... See more

Treedom is a scam

I have a reason to believe that Treedom is a scam. I have checked the latitude and longitude of my tree location provided by them and it took me to Antarctica... funny that both latitude and longitude are exactly same 79°18' 42.05". It is a scam and they take your money and you have no idea where this money goes to. Possibly a terrorist group or drug dealer pocket. Be weary these day and age you cannot trust anyone!

Good Morning,

Thank you for sharing your experience with Treedom. Your feedback always helps us improve.

The incorrect coordinates were due to a bug in the launch of the new tree page. Now it’s all fixed. We are sorry for the incident and in the future for any problem you can contact us directly at info@treedom.net

I love planting trees with Treedom

I love planting trees with Treedom - not only do I get to achieve impact for my company, but I get to engage customers by gifting them each a tree in our forest. I love telling the story of the forest, with the social benefits achieved alongside the environmental benefits, and I know we’ll be growing our forest for years to come. Thanks Treedom!

Treedom is surprisingly expensive…

Treedom is surprisingly expensive compared to the other websites and they plant almost exclusively trees that they may use as farming investments (coffee, cocoa, lemon, papaya, passion fruit...) but that are not particularly interesting for their CO2 fixing potential, nor for the protection of the ecosystem. That makes me wonder if it's not a way for them to get other people to finance their business plantations under the disguise of 'planting trees to save the planet'. I also found that the figures for the CO2 captured per year looked inflated compared to Tree-Nation. For example they claim that a Neem offsets 90 kg of CO2 per year, when Tree-Nation has 12 kg of Co2 per year for the same tree. For cocoa it's 5.5 kg on Treedom against 2 kg on Tree-Nation.

I've donated 8 trees now

I've donated 8 trees now. It's a great way to make it easy to plant trees. They've updated their offering to cater to many types of trees - not just cash crops. This is an easy and wholesome way to top up your charity contributions.

Treedom pays farmers to plant crops.

Treedom (as per its own statements) takes your money and gives it to a farmer to plant trees. All the trees it offers are cash crop trees such as almonds or limes, which are not native trees (because they are all fruit or nut trees which have been extensively bred). So you are paying for a farmer to plant his own trees which he would have planted anyway to make himself a profit. This does not help the environment. More trees does not equal a better environment.

Amazing!

What a great website! Found it through Sweatcoin and I don’t regret it. Planting trees is great for the environment and it’s really fun and interactive. You can name your tree, you can follow its life and you can see exactly where it is!
