Careful of small print!
Viewed a property with them - looked cheap and guided competitively however when reading the legal pack they wanted almost as much as property was guided at for their auction buyers premium and vendor costs (legal and agent). Total of £12,600!!
What they are doing may not be illegal or a scam as such but it is at very least disingenuous - let buyers beware

At Under The Hammer, we aim to present properties as transparently as possible, and the auction guide price reflects the seller’s expectation of where bidding may start rather than the final sale price.
As is standard with modern method auctions, certain fees may apply to the buyer and these are clearly detailed within the legal pack and auction terms so that prospective bidders can review them in full before choosing to participate. We always encourage buyers to carefully read these documents and seek independent advice where required prior to bidding.
We appreciate that auctions may not be suitable for every buyer, but they do provide a fast and transparent method of sale for many vendors and purchasers.

They didn’t even bother to show up for the viewing!
Booked a viewing for a property (about a hour away from where I live) listed by this company. This was an open viewing (subject to booking) so several people showed up. No one from Under The Hammer showed up for the viewing. One of the other potential buyers managed to get through to someone who informed him that it had been rescheduled for a different day. No phone calls or emails to let anyone know. I called and left a message but have not heard anything 48 hours later. If this is their level of customer service, I will not be spending my money with them.

I would give minus 5 star if I could. I was scammed of £14K+ by this company. I am opening a legal investigation with them as this is not right. Property was sold under false pretence, incorrect or minimal information with the sole intention of scamming me of my money. They lure you in with a good offer and once you make the first payment the hidden expenses are unending. When you pull out you lose ALL your money with no explanation whatsoever, which is their game plan from the start. I never set eyes on the auction pack till date (1 year later), they kept my money and refused to respond to any of my e-mails or subject access request. I will definitely be going to court with them and reporting to the CIO. Also, beware of Dan. He is a sweet talking serpent with no truth or conscience in him. Disregard all the positive reviews online, they are carefully doctored and the actual ones taken down.
PLEASE STAY AWAY AND SAVE YOURSELF THE NIGHTMARE!!!

Under The Hammer operates as a transparent auction platform, with all property information, terms and fees set out within each listing and the associated legal pack, which is made available for review prior to any bid or offer being placed. At auction, exchange of contracts takes place immediately upon a successful bid, meaning the sale becomes legally binding at that stage.
We do not operate with hidden charges, and contractual terms are provided in advance within the documentation supplied for each property.
As you have indicated that you are considering legal action, and as individual cases cannot be discussed publicly, this matter will need to be reviewed through the appropriate formal channels. I won some land at auction for £25 in September 2022 and it cost me over £11000 for legal fees. Wouldn’t recommend at all they don’t even deserve 1 star but that’s the lowest I can score

To clarify, all auction listings include a full legal pack, which is available to download and review prior to bidding. This pack contains the contract documentation and any special conditions, including the legal fees and costs associated with the transaction.
Any legal fees referenced within the contract are set by the seller and their appointed solicitor, who also prepare and provide the legal pack and contract terms. Under The Hammer does not draft, amend, or influence the seller’s contract conditions, and we are not involved in setting those fees.
We always strongly recommend that bidders review the legal pack in full and seek independent legal advice before placing a bid, as bids are legally binding once made. If you would like us to look into the documentation relating to your purchase, please feel free to contact us directly.

Quick turn around
I approached under the hammer 8th January give or take a day or so. Reece was my first point of contact whom explained the procedure clearly and to the point. My property was in for auction and also open to bids. Jodeane dealt with this side for me again very good at what she does. Jodeane managed to achieve the sale at the sale price I was looking for. 10 out of 10 all round. Straight up to the point and a very quick sale. All done within 4 weeks. Highly grateful for the service and recommend them without any doubt

Scam... Alert for all who are going to use services from Under The Hammer.
My experience with this online auction company was extremely disappointing and felt misleading from start to finish. The listings were unclear, important information was missing, and what was promised did not match what was delivered.
After payment, communication became very poor. Emails and queries were either ignored or met with vague responses, and resolving issues felt intentionally difficult. Additional fees appeared that were not clearly explained upfront, which gave the whole process a very untrustworthy feel.
Customer service showed no interest in resolving concerns or taking responsibility. Instead of transparency and professionalism, I was left feeling misled and taken advantage of.
I would strongly advise others to do thorough research before dealing with this company. Based on my experience, I would not use them again and would not recommend them to anyone looking for a genuine and reliable online auction platform.
