Highly Recommended

This is sailing with a difference. Yes, it's got beautiful scenery, lovely people and great food. It's also got the challenge of lowering and lifting the mast to pass under bridges over canals, and the fun of anchoring almost inside reed beds for quiet lunches. Voytec and Patrycja couldn't have been more helpful. Voytec was happy to spend as long as it took ensuring that we were happy with the boat and with managing the mast malarky before we set off. Messages were answered promptly and we were confident that, had there been any issues (which there weren't), we wouldn't have had to deal with them on our own.

An excellent holiday for experienced sailors. 100% recommend

We are experienced sailors, having sailed in the UK, Mediterranean and Caribbean. We were looking for a different experience and this holiday totally fitted the bill. The Masurian Lakes are rural and picturesque to say the least, with a gently undulating landscape. The sailing is excellent - good winds but with flat seas (similar to the Dutch inland waterways but prettier). We thoroughly enjoyed the new challenge of 'bringing down the mast'. Our Antila 33 was perfect for four people but would have coped comfortably with more. We visited a variety of marinas, from bustling Gizycko, small towns but also less sophisticated and remote moorings where you could light a bonfire in the woods. Lunches were easy, we found quiet anchorages in deserted bays. Provisioning was no problem and we ate in some very good restaurants most evenings. The boat was extermely well kitted out with many thoughtful touches ie a hairdryer, binoculars, charging points etc. Voytec was a font of information about the area, giving us excellent advice when we were planning our itinerary - the customer service overall was outstanding. We began our holiday with a few days in Gdansk which we would also thoroughly recommend - to make it a thoroughly well-rounded trip.

Back on the Mazurian lakes

We sailed the north lakes two years ago and it was so good that we returned to sail the southern lakes.
Another fantastic experience in lovely sunny weather.  It was great to get back sailing again, particularly moving through the lock between two of the lakes.
We stopped at the water tower museum at pisz and the Galindia project/park. We also revisited the small hotel / museum where you can try shots of different flavoured vodkas with no obligation to buy.
The food was amazing as always.  Some of the best pork dishes and soups I've ever had.
This time we had the chance to visit Gizycko on the evening before we travelled back and loved the vibrant waterfront and great restaurants.
Thanks, as always, to Wojciech for putting up with us for the week and making it such a brilliant holiday.

So good, we returned!

We sailed with Voytek 2 years ago in the north of the lakes. It was such a fabulous trip that we came back to do the southern lakes.
Before long, it came flooding back to us and we soon picked up the art of sailing again (with help from Voytek 😂)
We travelled through a lock and visited Galandia, the most quirky place I’ve ever been to, thoroughly recommend a visit!
I swam in the lakes, both jumping off the boat and from small beaches where we docked for the night.
Voytek is so knowledgeable about the area, we foraged in the forest for mushrooms and had a wonderful meal enjoying our finds!
The food on board is hearty and delicious.
The Masurian lakes are so beautiful. Our week was so happy and peaceful.

First sailling with children

This was our first sailing trip, but certainly not our last. Sailing turned out to be a wonderful adventure for all of us. We were worried about whether the children and we would find ourselves on the boat, but we needn't have been. Wojtek always made sure there were attractions for the children. Searching for mussels and crayfish will remain in their memories for a long time.

We’ve had great weather conditions, perfect for sailing and relaxing. We sailed at 6 on the Beaufort scale. It was an amazing experience. The Antila 33.3 exceeded our expectations. There was plenty of space for everyone.

Despite our complete lack of sailing experience, we quickly learned the basics of sailing, which were interesting.

Masuria is a beautiful place and so worth exploring. Everyone who is looking for an adventure holiday, this is it. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Experience

What a truly wonderful experience.

Being aged 58 and 60 - we decided it was time to be a little more adventurous and do something outside of our comfort zone. We were complete novices to sailing - no experience whatsoever so were a little apprehensive. However, we needn’t have worried. Wojtec was incredible. He explained everything about the yacht from dropping the mast safely, tying different knots, what effect the direction of the wind would have on the sailing performance, raising the mast - basically, everything we needed to know to operate the yacht safely. However, we were not under any pressure to get involved whatsoever - if we wanted to just sit and enjoy the sailing - that was fine - likewise, if we wanted to have a more hands on experience we could.

The marinas we stayed in overnight were varied and completely different to each other which gave us a good insight into what was on offer on the Northern Masurian Lakes.

Wojtec was very knowledgeable about the Masurian Lakes and the surrounding history - we visited local Palaces and German Bunkers at Mamerki which were fascinating.

The weather was very mixed - 2 days of lovely sunshine, a couple of overcast days and one stormy day which provided some exhilarating sailing where we reached 8.1 on the speedometer and the last day with no wind!! So we can safely say we covered all sailing conditions.

Whether you are an experienced sailor or a complete beginner, we have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Undiscovered Sailing. Wojtec and Patrycja went above and beyond to make our sailing holiday a wonderful experience and a memory we will cherish.

Thank you. Mike and Sarah

WOW!!!!

WOW!!!!! what a fantastic week on the water. Wojtek and Patrycja could not have done more to make sure we had a great time, thank you both so much.
As for the sailing, I have wanted to try the lakes for a few years now and after a disappointing week sailing in Croatia last year the time was right. We have been Norfolk Broads sailors for a number of years and I have been sailing with the same lovely crew for about 15 years. The boat was great, stiff and responsive and we saw 6 to 7 knots with half a jib in strong winds, we also had warm sunny days with gentle breezes and full sail, brilliant. Marinas were easy to use, just park and pay, you go stern to in finger pontoons and we found help always on hand if needed. The Polish sailors are fantastic and certainly know how to have a good time with Polish folk music being played on the boats, and ashore you will also find the prices very good for food and beer. We went late June early July and found the weather changeable and we did get hit with a force 7-8 storm but luckily we had already moored up.
For any inland waterway sailor or sea sailor who is looking for a different experience, guys you need to get over there and have a play, its fantastic and I cant recommend it enough. Once again, thank you Wojtec and Patrycja

We had the most incredible sailing experience

We had the most incredible sailing experience in August with undiscovered sailing.
We decided on the trip as it was a new adventure, I had never sailed before and wasn’t keen on the sea so this seemed like a great opportunity to try something new.
I can’t believe how much fun we had, we had the most incredible time as a family trying out things together sometime out our comfort zone making incredible memories.
Patrycja was on hand at every stage of the booking which was extremely helpful, leading up to our trip she had worked on every detail for us.
Woytek was our skipper and he was very knowledgeable about the Masurian Lakes, he made sure we seen as much as possible not only as a skipper but as a guide of the local culture . Sailing during the day, mooring in the most amazing small towns at night visiting incredible traditional taverns for dinner is just a few to mention.
While having a lunch stop on the lake we were able to jump off the back of the yacht for a swim, this was such an exciting experience for our family.
Wojtek also transferred us to and from the Airport which was fantastic.
We had a fantastic experience and we would highly recommend Undiscovered Sailing,It was a holiday that our family enjoyed so much that we decided we will definitely return next year.

Our Polish Lakes Adventure

Our Polish Lakes experience started at the 2023 boat show which we attended looking to charter a boat for a holiday, there we met Patrycja and Wojtek and they quickly convinced us we were missing out if we had never sailed on the Masurian Lakes and we decided to book for September 2024.
September 24 arrived and we were  met at Olstyn Airport by Wojtek and after a short journey through the beautiful unspoilt countryside we were boarding our boat. That afternoon we went on to the lake to learn how to lower and raise the mast to enable us to pass under the bridges. Wojtek took us through the process which was not difficult and he ensured we were confident to go it alone!
The following morning we waved Wojtek farewell and set off to explore a new sailing territory. My partner was skippering and as the only crew member I was naturally a little apprehensive with lowering and raising the mast but following Wojtek's instructions and taking our time all went well and other vessels around us were respectful of our manoeuvring.
We had a wonderful week sailing Lake Kisajno, Dargin and Mamry mooring each night in a different location, beaching the boat in very shallow water and walking ashore on two occasions, facilitated by the design of the boat. We anchored for lunch in sheltered areas and swam in warm waters enjoying the tranquility of nature all around us.
Our week went smoothly but all too quickly, on the one occasion we needed some local knowledge Wojtek responded to our message immediately. He was also there for our return and assisted us securing the boat back on its mooring base, enthusiastic to hear of our voyages. On our last night Wojtek  dropped us in town for supper and we taxied back with ease as Wojtek gave details for the taxi driver so we were returned to the right location as our knowledge of Polish and Poland is very limited! The following day Wojtek drove us to the airport and we said our goodbyes until our next visit! So many things made this a wonderfully relaxing holiday, from our first contact with Patrycja and Wojtek we felt confident we would be looked after and supported  on this new sailing experience for us and we truly were.Add to that the Masurian scenery, its nature, the sunny weather and warm waters, plus the freshwater-fish suppers and the experience was an all round winner.

The most enjoyable experience

This trip was booked for a surprise birthday gift and Patrycja and Wojtek went above and beyond for us to have the most amazing time.
This was a first time sailing experience for 3 members of our party and the first time for all of us visiting the Masurian Lakes. Wojteks knowledge of the area is outstanding, not only did we learn some sailing skills we also learned so much history of the area.
We spent our days having lovely, relaxing breakfasts on the yacht, then sailing the wonderful Masurian Lakes. We moored in a different place each night, ranging from marinas, to central city locations and quieter areas where we could have a campfire on the beach and swim in the lakes. All the amenities in each location were excellent and had everything we could need. We also went for walks through the forest, visited museums and bunkers, and strolled through towns and villages.
Wojtek skippered the boat for us and while sharing his sailing and Masurian Lakes knowledge, he also introduced us to some wonderful Polish food. We were open to trying everything and we were not disappointed. The food was exceptional.
This was one of our most enjoyable experiences and we can't wait to go back and enjoy sailing more of the Masurian Lakes with Undiscovered Sailing.

Beautiful Poland

Our very first family sailing holiday, full of great experiences, entertainment and friendship. We arrived in Gdansk to be met by Karol for our taxi ride to the Masurian Lakes. Once there, we met our skipper Wojtek with our new 30 foot yacht, we cast off at 10am after our breakfast prepared by our skipper.
We sailed through some of the lakes raising and lowering the mast as necessary and stopping off at various attractions including the Wolfs Lair where the atempted assassination of Hitler took place. (The Polish government should really try and support such historical facility)
The days passed quickly with stops at each harbour and each restaurant more impressive than the last, the prices are about half that of the UK. This was late May early June the temp 25°C where swimming in the lake was lovely for the whole family.
All too soon the holiday was over and back to our harbour then Gdansk and 12°C wet and windy Scotland.

Masurian Lakes

Have to express our gratitude to our friends for suggesting going with them to Poland sailing .I’ve never been to Poland and couldn’t get over how beautiful it is and the Masurian Lakes are enormous with canals connecting each lake, even though we were sailing every day we still haven’t seen all of them ,on an evening we moored in small bays where we had bonfires cooking polish sausage which was yummy the toilets and showers on each stop were excellent clean and modern .I have never enjoyed a holiday as much as this one .we all learnt how to sail and can’t wait to go back and learn some more.If you want a holiday full of fun history and sailing this is for you ,and the weather amazing in the 20s every day and the lake was warm enough to swim in and that’s September in the summer it’s even warmer .who thought Poland was a hot country ,not me.I could go on and on about how great this holiday was,but I think everyone needs to go and experience it for themselves.

Incredible experience, one of the best holidays we have had

We have just returned after a week sailing with Voytek and Patrycja and 2 of our friends on the Masurian Lakes. I cannot recommend this highly enough, it was a fantastic adventure! from the moment you step off the plane, Voytek and Patrycja are looking after you 24 hours a day. Pick up (and drop off) was seamless, a very comfortable minibus with drinks and snacks for your journey. We had never sailed before, by the time we were going home, we had learned so much! Voytek involved us (as much as we wanted) with sailing the boat, it was exhilarating and so much fun.
The lakes and scenery are so beautiful, we swam several times. Each night we moored somewhere different, the showers and toilets were immaculate. Our meals were nutritious and delicious, Polish food is very good.
Voytek is extremely knowledgeable about local history, we visited several very interesting places including WW2 bunkers in the forest.
We laughed so much during the week, thoroughly enjoying card games in the evening.
We are planning to go back with Undiscovered Sailing, the lakes are vast and there is so much more to see and experience.

Fab sailing, great charter holiday

I hadn't heard about Poland's Masurian Lake District before setting sail with Undiscovered Sailing. Stunning location, great sailing, good company. My friend and I were well looked after by Patycja and Wojtek, and it was a real treat to have them sharing their local knowledge and acting as our translators. The food was fantastic too. The history of the area is eye opening and the larger marinas and small family run pontoons offer a brilliant set-up for sailors. Seeing the swifts, swans, cormorants, storks and other birdlife was idyllic. We were invited to attend as part of a press trip, at the start of the sailing season, and with the weather being drizzly, and not the usual sunshine, we had the lakes to ourselves. We loved it! Find a write up of our adventures on the Practical Boat Owner magazine website.

Amazing sailing

Another 5 star review! 👇Thank you Rhona 😍⛵😊🌊

'I have just returned from a wonderful holiday with "Undiscovered Sailing" - so well named, who knew that Poland held such sailing wonders as the Masurian Lakes ! An new adventure for a seasoned sea sailor from Scotland, consistent sunshine, and great winds what more could one ask for..... did I mention a central heating if temp dropped at night. Luxury !
Great holiday for seasoned and novice sailors alike, the lakes are full of beautiful anchorages hidden among the reed beds, even marinas, can be discovered , skipper needed note hidden.
Huge thanks to our hosts skipper Voytek and his lovely wife Patrycja who guided us through our adventure introducing us to local cuisine, masts that drop to access canals, lifting keels AND bow thrusters. Splendid holiday thank you'

Wonderful charter in the Polish Lakes

Our 5-day charter in the stunning Masurian lakes was fantastic. Hosts Patrycja and Wojtek looked after us from the very first email, asking what food we liked, until the transfer back to Olsztyn-Mazury airport. Fun, friendly and knowledgable, they were great companions, sailors and cooks and made us feel very relaxed.

Skipper Wojtek tailor-made an itinerary for us, which included great sailing in the quieter northern part of the lakes, with visits to smart marinas, historical sites (including an amazing WW2 bunker in the forest and a WW1 fort) and peaceful anchorages. We even managed to have a lakeside sauna and night at anchor in a remote creek.

I've sailed in the UK, Med and Caribbean, and was surprised to find this beautiful lake district with charming villages and top-class marinas as good (or better) than I'm used to at home, yet with the benefit of far fewer boats!

Our yacht, an Antilla 33.3, was top-spec, spacious and comfortable, with central heating. It also had some nice technical features, such as an electric winch and a clever mast-lowering system (for the canals) that made it especially fun to sail.

Because land was always in sight, Masuria felt like a very safe place to sail whilst also being surrounded by nature. It's Poland's best-kept secret!

The food was delicious – it was great to try some traditional Polish dishes, especially sausages, hunters' stew and croquettes, as well as locally brewed beer and cider.

Whether you prefer sailing, sight-seeing or a mix of both, there's plenty to do on these vast lakes, and I'd definitely recommend a charter with Undiscovered Sailing.

Amazing Sailing

I’ve just had the most fantastic sailing holiday in Poland with Undiscovered Sailing! My friend and I were met at the airport by Patrycja, one of the company owners, and driven through the beautiful Polish countryside to our boat, a gleaming, new Antila 33.3. Voytek, Patrycja’s husband - and our skipper - was waiting for us. We were soon settled into our beautiful cabins (complete with usb and mains sockets for charging etc.) then heading out onto the vast Masurian Lakes. It was perfect sailing weather, surrounded by stunning scenery. I’ve sailed for years at sea. it is very different on the lakes. The boat is simple and easy to sail. We had some amazing sails in safe waters with sun and wind. We anchored in small quiet bays for our lunches and in the evenings we ate well in different restaurants and were entertained in bars with live music. As a fish-eating vegetarian I did wonder what my choice of food might be but I soon realised that I needn’t have worried as I ate very well. The ‘Zupa Pomidorowa’ (tomato soup with noodles) and the Polish dumplings were delicious! Our hosts cooked for us and washed the dishes! Before I went on this holiday I didn’t know much about Poland or its people. We learned a lot about Polish history and the country. Now one thing I do know is that this lovely couple certainly know how to do sailing holidays!
