Uplift Payment Plans: Disappointing Experience for Canadians

As a Canadian resident, my experience with Uplift payment plans has been disappointing. Despite an impressive list of participating merchants, few extend their offerings to Canadians, leaving us with limited options. Additionally, interactions with customer service have been dismissive and unhelpful. Until Uplift improves its service for Canadian customers, I cannot recommend it unless you’re using it to buy airfare from Air Canada. If you’re interested in purchasing vacation packages from Universal or Seaworld, you can forget about it as it’s only offered to US residents.

I am one of the vendors who integrated…

I am one of the vendors who integrated this service for a client however when I tried using it myself, I was denied with an error 'Address does not match' but still received an email saying denied via equifax. I requested an equifax report with my details about my previous address, which was 4 yrs old but with an excellent credit score. The call center is extremely pathetic too, you can't reach out to the agent by chance.

Total scam

Total scam - do not for any reason have anything to do with this company. I paid in full and then 3 months later was sent to collection with no notice. I was on auto pay and received an email saying that I had made my last payment. Then out of nowhere - sent a collections. They refuse to answer any questions or respond to me in any way. When I got a hold of customer support they hung up on me. I paid all my bills and on time. Total scam

TERRIBLE Customer Service

I was issued a refund from Air Canada Vacations on Jan 2, 2023 for a trip that we had to cancel. It left an amount owing of $158.40, which I paid when my first payment was due. It is March 16, 2023 and Uplift says I still owe for this loan. What is the hold up? I am overdue making my second payment and don't want to... if it is this hard to receive my refund, why would I want to make a payment and have to get that money back from them????

The only time I hear from them are the constant payment reminders for a loan that I received notification of a refund back in January. When I reach out to them through email or phone, I don't get a response.

Blamed for fraudulent charge

After being harassed with texts I had a payment overdue, I went to make a payment, but noticed the list of made/scheduled/missed payments looked suspicious and incorrect. I backed out of the payment before completing to contact support instead.

Then I get notice from my bank that payment I never authorized was taken anyway. I've been emailing with Uplift for days, and their dodging the question, providing irrelevant information, and finally blaming me for authorizing the payment - which, again, I did not.

Website is poorly constructed, provides incorrect account information, clearly allows for error and fraud, staff either doesn't know how or doesn't care to correct their mistakes. Please don't trust them. Absolutely miserable experience.

Be careful

Used them in 2019, got approved.
Applied again in 2023, when my credit score was even higher. Got denied. Called. They told me to ask Equifax for any details. Obtained full report from Equifax, have excellent score. Called Uplift again asking for details. Ditched my questions, had no explanation. Poor service.

I paid off my Uplift loan in full on…

I paid off my Uplift loan in full on 1/20/23. Unknown to me until today (2/8/23) they refunded that payment on 1/23/23 for NO REASON! I didn’t ask or request the refund and I wasn’t informed I got one. The last I got from them my loan was paid in full. Well today 2/8/23 I got an email saying I owed them money. WHAT? HOW? I paid the loan off in January. Nope! They let me know just 2 days before my payment is due (that shouldn’t be due) that I owe them money! What makes it worse is it isn’t the same amount I paid off in January it’s more now. I called and emailed customer service with absolutely no help other than “you still owe money”.

Uplift refuses to give us a full refund…

Uplift refuses to give us a full refund for our Sunwings trip that was canceled. We booked Aug 11 and our trip was canceled Dec 30. Our trip was Feb 10. They want to keep $700 for a trip that we never took. We have emailed them many times with a reaponse of too bad so sad you signed the agreement. Do not use uplift.

Update. The day after I posted this I was contected by Uplift. My full amount was finally returned to me. It is too bad it took posting this review to finally get it.

Uplift Reps tried to flag my reviews

Uplift Reps tried to flag my reviews, so that I wouldn't be able to continue sharing my horrendous experience with them. My credit score dropped by 25 points because an Uplift Rep told me there wouldn't be a hard inquiry. The next apologized to me and said they would train the Reps better. That does me no good. Does that fix my hard earned credit score? No. Did he offer any kind of offset? No. Basically, it was an "OH, well. We lied to you. We have you contracted already and we could care less". Do not use Uplift. You will regret it.

Terrible customer service

I booked a trip and had to cancel. Sunwing issued the refund to Uplift and then..crickets. I have heard nothing.

I cannot get someone on the phone. I tried the live chat, nothing.

What kind of company doesnt allow you to speak with someone? I tired emailing and all I get back is some standard message back that has nothing to do with my issue.

Edit- I did receive my refund but I still have never been able to connect with a person. I would not recommend

Full of It

I give a 3 because I was able to use Uplift many times with multiple accounts at the same time. PAID ON TIME AND BEFORE TIME..Then one day I applied and was denied, when I questioned why I was told I was disabled from applying for any more loans. And of course they said it wasn't true..so I sent them the email and again they told me Uplift disabled me..Why can't you talk to anyone in person.. It's always Eqifax fault...I have a few more accounts to pay and I'm done with them. It was an affordable way for me to travel but will have to find another way.

I wish I would've read these reviews before I used Uplift for my financial services for a cruise for me and my children, they canceled our cruise, nobody contacted me, email me, smoke signals, nothing, can't reach nobody to talk to someone, I called the number on my portal but it always a automated bot talking instead of transferring, never again

Approval denial with 750+ FICO

I don't understand how this company decides eligibility. I used them a couple of years ago and paid them off way before balance was due. I just applied again for a cruise (just returned from a cruise today) and they denied my application. Not even a horrible interest rate, just flat out denial. Rather than use them, I simply applied and was approved for another Amex. This company just doesn't seem reputable or knowledgeable.

This is a ridiculous financial company…

This is a ridiculous financial company ever. I updated my debit card information and kept getting message card number invalid. I attempted to add bank information for payment, and there was an error. I contacted them by telephone my number could not be found, and I could not be transferred. I got them by email only to receive a lame excuse without direction. I asked if someone would call me no response. I tried the CS line the wait was 145 minutes.
Meanwhile, I received two late payments on my credit and was told there is nothing they can do about that. Please stay away. They will cause more problems than exist for you now.

Planned a cruise with Carnival and had to cancel 3 weeks before departure. I see a lot of bad reviews but I think it depends on the policy where you book your vacation. Only had to pay an $88 penalty per person and refund for what had had already been paid in about a week. Did 6-month interest-free payment at the time. Have since then rebooked for a cruise in August. Would use it again as the option lets you pay extra to pay off in less than the time you finance it for.

I have been a day with this company and I hate myself for not coming to read these horrible reviews. I tried calling them to change the account they take the money from and no one answers the phone, email or chat. Is this a real company? How could a reputable airline company trust these clowns to take care of their clients is beyond me. Can we cancel our loan with them at all???
