Cannot Link to My Bank. I'm Done!

I received a sum of money via Venmo. I had not previously linked my bank (checking) account, and when I attempted to link it on their app using my iPhone, and then on my Mac, using both Safari and Chrome, every attempt failed. Their message was that some tech problem had occurred, and I should try again later. I tried again and again, over two days with the same result.

Their AI chatbot help was NO help.

And guess what, it is impossible to reach a human at Venmo for help.

I did, however, find a solution: I will use Zelle in the future.

Venmo stealing??

I just recently started personal venmo. Account about the card set up to use as a payment source when I plow snow.. I rely on snowplowing in the winter to survive. I received a payment from one of my clients and he only had venmo as the source to pay me. When I went to transfer my money from my personal account 2. My bank account it was on hod for some reason. I called the customer service number and the agent that I talk ed to Told me that the transaction was illegal. I need start a business account to access my money.
I didn't want to but I ended up starting a business account so I could access this money. The next day. I try to transfer the money into my bank account and learn that venmo had put a twenty one day, hold on my money.. Being a sole proprietor running a snowplowing business. You're not gonna make it if you don't get paid. I've called the venmo 1 800 number 100 times at least emailed Antaeus, and tried everything to get them to tell me what the hell is going on.
They all just act ignorant and Unaware of the entire situation, Which is perfect for them to keep you in the dark. I filed their federal complaint. Hi have talked to lawyers about this nobody can give you answers. Even right now the payment has cleared. Everything is good to go. It should be transferred out. I don't get any responses from at all anymore, So now I have lost my snow plowing jobs for the rest of the winter. My cell phone has been shut off end. I'm about to be kicked out of my rental agreement, And they are all aware of this At venmo. I would very strongly recommend not using venmo. A policy like this to steel people's money Should be very illegal. I'm not exactly sure where I am in there. 21 day stretch were there. Keeping my money. I think I have a week left they won't even return my calls. I use cash app ninety nine percent of the and they have never done anything remotely close to this.. So when I see like your life being hella hostage while you lose everything, relying on venmo to get you money, forget it.#a Cash app that's what you should be using as a financial option.

Good for sending and receiving money

Mainly good, easy way to send/receive money to people. I’ve used it for many years and have had just 3 issues;
1. Couldn’t receive a refund when a service provider ended up not being able to provide her services
2. Can’t withdraw / transfer from account to bank on the web, needs to be from mobile
3. Can’t login when I’m not the in US?! I’ve been in Malaysia for a few months now and can’t log in from phone it’s annoying

Endless recordings at customer service…

They dont have anyone that you can talk to if theres a problem . You call their number and you get endless recordings. For this press 1 for that press 2 for this press 1 for that press 2. Not having someone to talk to when theres a problem is a deal breaker for me no matter what company it is. It shows that they dont care about customers at all. No more Venmo. If anyone wants to use it they can go ahead. It might work a few times but eventually and soon its going to get you and theres nobody willing to talk to you to help.

If your ‘security’ locks out your own customers, it isn’t security. It’s a malfunction.

I genuinely do not understand how Venmo thinks this is an acceptable way to run a financial platform.
I get locked out of my account regularly because their automated system flags completely normal purchases as “suspicious.” No warning. No clear explanation. No timeline. My money just sits there while I wait for the system to decide I can access it again.
Customer service is polite but powerless. They cannot override the algorithm, cannot expedite a review, and cannot tell you what actually triggered the lock. Everything is dictated by automation.
Security matters. I understand fraud prevention. But there is a difference between protecting customers and repeatedly blocking them from their own funds. If this approach meaningfully prevents fraud, they should show the numbers. From a user’s perspective, it mostly creates declined transactions, public embarrassment, and unnecessary stress.
Financial platforms depend on trust and reliability. When you never know if your account will suddenly freeze, that trust erodes fast.
I want to use Venmo. I have had plenty of successful transactions. But I also never know when it is going to decide I am suspicious for no reason.
That is not sustainable.

Venmo sucks

Venmo works good until you have a dispute. From my experience there is no way to dispute. So they suck.

If there was 0 stars

If there was 0 stars, i will give it 0. They receive your money and they block you to use it. Debit cards that decline all transactions, payments to people don’t work, transfer funds to you bank card doesn’t work. And on top of this incredible inefficiency, customer support doesn’t know anything about anything. They just say. “Sorry, try later.” A total screw up company

Venmo allows fraudulent transactions…

Venmo allows fraudulent transactions and does not reverse them through their dispute process therefore protecting the fraudsters. I will try once more by disputing my denial and then close my account and criticize Venmo in every conversation I have with anyone.

VERY POOR customer service

NO way to contact a live person or even find an email for a very simple question. Absolutely absurd and very seriously considering dropping them simply due to their customer service.

Very rude and even tho I put correct…

Very rude and even tho I put correct details there still said I put wrong details this is a email from them and there there say dozens of pounds which is wrong as I only ordered a necklace for my mum

You filled in the wrong address yourself, which caused the package to be returned by the courier. You were wrong, and you yourself have a problem with your brain. The courier and we reminded you multiple times, yet you still did not provide the correct address to them. Your item is a custom-made product unique to you and cannot be resold. Your own mistake caused us to lose the cost of the item plus the shipping fees. Despite your own error, you actually initiated a chargeback? The fact that you filled it all in wrong shows you're an idiot; the courier and we reminded you multiple times, but you didn't correct it, showing you're a fool. And now you're initiating a chargeback, causing us to lose dozens of pounds for nothing, which shows you're a scammer. Consider these dozens of pounds as a gift for the funeral of your scammer family member.

Credit card fees on VENMO payments to individuals

I used my VENMO account to tip a service provider. People who want to use VENMO to pay another individual should be aware that your credit card company will categorize this as a cash transfer. The fee for a cash transfer at Capital One in 3% with A $10 MINIMUM. So I was charged $10 on a $30 transaction! I’ll be cancelling my VENMO account ASAP.

Account suspension

They froze my account for no apparent reason despite my identity being verified and no transactions for over a year, and customer service was unhelpful and rude, literally telling me to “have a nice day” and ending the call three words into my sentence along with no explanation for any slight reason my account would be getting suspended and then they permanently deleted it. won’t recommend and won’t be using again

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LOUSY APP

I would give Venmo NEGATIVE stars if I could. I set up an account to purchase something from a swap group. Venmo auto-declined my payment, specifying possible fraud. The recipient had her husband's business Venmo send me an invoice instead and Venmo still would not process the payment. Although I linked both the bank account and the bank debit card and had over $30K in the account, Venmo system said I had no balance. I chatted and called their customer service several times and no agent could help me. I asked for a manager and none was available. They told me the manager would call me and no one called. I will NEVER recommend Venmo to anyone.

My daughter tried to set up a teen…

My daughter tried to set up a teen account and followed the online prompts and set it up. She has a job that involves having people pay her and she had two clients send money to her teen account. Then she found she couldn't access the money. When we contacted Venmo they said that she had to send the money back to them, and ask them to repay to a new account. But she can't access them, so she lost that money because of their poor instructions and stupid policies.
