A company that can't decide what it is
There's good and bad with this platform. Some excellent items but a bizarre mismatch between the prices advertised and the prices sellers are pushed to discount to. It's like they cannot decide if they're a high end platform or just Vinted with a facewash.
Unfortunately I felt compelled to close my account and won't be returning after some very poor, unhelpful responses from their Customer service team (who previously had been excellent). I listed an item which was rejected by their assessors, perfectly acceptable in most circumstances, but not when the exact same item passed assessment under 8 weeks previously same item, same photos, same description. When I asked why that was as it did not give much faith in their assessment process I was fobbed off by some rubbish about how their goalposts essentially move from season to season. Again, a perfectly fair, if slippery excuse apart from the last time I checked, both June and August fall within the same season. Vestiaire, a company that needs to make its mind up what it is.

Sells Counterfeits, Refuses Refunds, and Relists Fakes on Your Account
I strongly advise avoiding Vestiaire Collective. I recently purchased a Moschino neckerchief through their Direct Shipping option. Upon arrival, it was immediately obvious the item was counterfeit. The mandatory laundry symbols on the care tag were applied using a cheap, superficial thermal print, with the ink heavily bleeding into the ribbed fabric—a glaring manufacturing flaw that completely fails basic Italian luxury quality control and legal legibility standards.
I escalated the issue and returned the item to their warehouse for a physical inspection. Unbelievably, their authentication "experts" doubled down, claiming the item was genuine despite the undeniable physical evidence of the substandard printing.
Instead of issuing a refund for this counterfeit piece, Vestiaire's solution was to refuse my return and automatically relist the fake item on my account. They attempted to force me to act as the distributor for a counterfeit item so they could pass it off to another unsuspecting buyer and collect a second selling fee.
I explicitly refused to accept the item back or allow the relisting, leaving the fake merchandise in their possession. I am now forced to bypass their horrific customer service entirely and initiate a formal chargeback through my credit card provider for "Counterfeit Merchandise."
Vestiaire Collective protects sellers of fake goods, ignores objective manufacturing flaws, and attempts to shift legal liability onto the buyer. Do not trust their "expert authentication" process.
Update: Vestiaire’s public reply below confirms their entire flaw: instead of addressing the objective, verifiable manufacturing defects—such as the heavy thermal ink bleeding across the care tag—they rely on a scripted boilerplate claiming their "experts" met standards. Doubling down on an error doesn't make it correct. When a platform forces buyers to take a loss while recycling rejected counterfeit items back into circulation to collect a second commission fee, it exposes a complete failure of quality control. The evidence speaks for itself.

Vestiaire Collective’s authentication service is honestly shocking.
We bought a very expensive Hermès Birkin through Vestiaire Collective. The bag went through their authentication process and was sold to us as authentic.
My wife wore it for a while, but eventually decided the size wasn’t right for her and wanted a larger Birkin instead. So we listed the exact same bag for sale again on Vestiaire Collective at a reasonable price.
Then, completely out of nowhere, we received an email saying that they could not go on with the sale and the bag would be hold by them. They did not give us the real reason. Apparently that bag was not real but fake after chatting days with their customer service.
The unbelievable part is that WE BOUGHT THE BAG FROM VESTIAIRE COLLECTIVE IN THE FIRST PLACE. They had previously authenticated it themselves and sold it to us as genuine.
It took months of emails, arguments and eventually getting our bank involved before we finally managed to get our money back. Even then, the amount we recovered was much less than what we had originally paid.
Vestiaire never wanted to acknowledge the obvious problem. Either their authentication was wrong when they originally sold us the bag, or it was wrong when we tried to sell the exact same bag again. Both cannot be correct.
The whole experience completely destroyed our trust in their authentication service.
Please be extremely careful buying expensive designer bags through platforms like this. There are so many fakes around on their site, and based on our experience, an authentication service does not necessarily give you the protection you think it does.
