Do NOT open a Monzo account
I'm putting an additional review on here in the hope unwitting new customers might avoid a terrible banking experience. It's genuinely frightening how helpless I feel with my money being looked after by this incompetent 'bank'. The other complaints on here sum up the risk of fraud and other account management problems I have been experiencing in just 6 months of having an account. Impossible to contact anyone of use when even minor difficulties arise.
Fraud resolution
I was the victim of a very convincing scammer masquerading as Monzo's fraud detection team, who successfully seperated me from my hard earned money. Within 24 hours of reporting Monzo had investigated the issue and refunded the missing money. I know not everyone may have this experience, but I was impressed with the service I received. Also Flex credit card and the ability to 'flex' a payment interest free over 3 months is a game changer.
Scammers allowed into my account
Scammers allowed into my account. Unable to sort out as they keep advising it will take 4 weeks. Now get updates with advise they are escalating my case. Three months now!

I guess they would do if you couldn’t go with one of the major high street banks but getting a charge back would not be possible with them, reporting fraudulent activity would not get you your money back or support. They give loans and overdrafts to people who have no intention of paying it back (it’s well known, and Monzo just close your account after a while and that’s it). Yet if you’re a responsible customer who is clearly (they see your credit score and you maintaining regular payments), you get declined. I was due to affordability (however the money they said I was over spending was ME putting in to an isa account).
What a joke
I created an account two weeks ago and was informed that it had been approved. Unfortunately, attempting to contact the company has proven to be a challenging experience. I recently spent three and a half minutes on the phone listening to a slow-speaking automated system, only to be informed that the department I needed was closed. This has been frustrating for me, as the company appears disorganized. Communication through Facebook messages has been ineffective, as I find myself repeatedly answering the same questions. Additionally, I have received rude emails requesting information that I have already provided. When I inquired about this issue, I did not receive a response. Considering these difficulties, I am considering trying a different company, such as Sterling. I am disappointed with the confusion and lack of professionalism I have encountered thus far.

They also use the flex function on the app to get young and vulnerable people into debt with an insanely high interest rate. Have used their cashback system before but never got the money. Use a proper bank like lloyds, this bank is useless.

I have lost all confidence in Monzo. I got into chat support and sat there while the MORON "helping" me refused to type anything. So the account doesn't work and I can't get support. So all of my money is trapped in this terrible bank. It lacks the functionality that the Android application provides. This isn't true for NatWest's web interface, which actually provides more functionality than its Android application does.
The web should be prioritized due to its ubiquity and consequently superior compatibility.
