Excellent service

Excellent service. Thank you. My MacBook Air wouldn't start up. Western Computer checked the computer was properly charging and did simple diagnostics. The MacBook eventually restarted and the problem was diagnosed as an operating system stuck in a loop. I am very grateful indeed for the polite and helpful service and will buy my next computer there.

Oxford Store are useless

Went into Oxford store to resolve and Iphone 15 Pro issue. Apple support suggested that as next step. I went into store and without doing any diagnostics on the phone, they simply told me that it would cost £500+ to get it repaired. Have spoken again with Apple and they have confirmed this is unacceptable, but can only advise a visit a different store to have diagnostics carried out. I wasted my time, parking charges, congestion charges to get appalling service. It it is not enough inconvenience to be without my phone. Please do not waste your time visiting the Oxford store.

I am an 'elderly' customer

I am an 'elderly' customer, having used a Mac since the SE box some 40 years ago. I have travelled around with the various stores in Chelmsford over the years. All have been friendly and helpful. iStore in Bond Street Chelmsford, beats them all. The staff are lead by example - being greeted by name every time, may seem as small thing, but it creates a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
I only go in when there is a 'problem', but I know it will be dealt with. This time a crack on the track pad,- with Apple Care, it was only £79 to get it up and working again. Not a lot of profit (!), but Brad and his team know that when I buy my next laptop it will be from them, as well as me telling others about the quality of service

We visited Western Computer in…cheltenham

We visited Western Computer in Cheltenham on Saturday as my wife was having trouble linking her Apple watch to her new iPhone 17. We were helped by Shania who dealt with us and sorted the problem. She was very friendly, efficient and helpful. Thank you Shania.

Excellent service at the Oxford branch.

I had fantastic service at the Oxford branch. Very patient and expert assistance with my iPhone 15 from Dion who spent a long time with me offering help beyond what I had requested. I am of a generation that struggles with aspects of tech and his manner was very friendly and reassuring. As a consequence I purchased the latest iPad that I had been considering for a while. Very happy to give this store my custom.

Read this review and judge for yourself if this store isn’t a scam disguised as an Apple service:

The battery of my old 2018 Mac was reaching the end of its life. I decided to take it to the store to have it replaced. Since my computer is my main work tool, I was basically on forced downtime without it, so I brought it in just before leaving on a week-long trip abroad.

Once there, the staff told me the repair would only take 3 days, so I could pick it up right after my vacation. When I got back, I called them, and they told me the battery still hadn’t arrived and that I’d need to wait another 3 days. I had no choice but to take 3 more days off work. After those 3 days, the store called me again to say that the new delivery date was in 3 weeks!
I asked to cancel the order and get my computer back.

Here’s the outcome:

1. Three wasted days off work
2. £90 lost
3. No solution offered (since the part would no longer arrive at the store once the order was canceled)

All this for a service that was originally supposed to take just three days.
Isn’t this a scam?
Be careful when bringing your computer to these thieves.

Excellent customer service in Cheltenham.

I have just (finally) exchanged my 'vintage' I-Phone 7 for a new I-Phone 16 Pro. Rob (Robin) was the person who handled the transaction for me, at the Cheltenham branch shop.
He was excellent in all respects. Initially offering sound and knowledgeably advice on which phone best suited my needs. And, subsequently effectively and efficiently handling the set up/transfer of data from old to the new. Along with a helpful tutorial on the key points of difference on the new phones OS.
He was a credit and exemplar to Western Computer's on how to deliver quality customer at its best.

I pad 2nd version not charging ☹️

Took my iPad in today ,as it wasn't charging , straight away said looked like charger snapped off in port .Within 30 mins all fixed and only charged 20 💷 .Very pleased ,and all staff friendly and courteous.Many Thanks 😃

Great customer service

Took my iPad into Western Computers today thinking it might mean a costly repair,Rhys looked at it and said the screen was locked and probably need a hard restart which he did for me and now my IPad is ok now and he showed me what to if it happens again.its so nice to find a store that is willing to help you out of the goodness of their hearts just and because they . Thank Rhys .

Excellent service from Cheltenham store

Went into the Cheltenham store to get some tests run on an iPhone. The chap who did the tests, Will, told me what he was doing, wasn't in a rush to get me out of the door and did a really good job.

If more customer facing people worked the way that Will did today, I think there would be a lot of happy shoppers again.

Big thanks to Will for his help today, greatly appreciated.

Quick Service and capable firmware refresh

My MacBook lost its brain during an operating system upgrade, and the recovery instructions required access to more stuff than I could lay my hands on.
A quick appointment made via Apple that same day - great quick service - relaxed and friendly helpfulness - and a restored laptop, with firmware reloaded without a fuss. Easy, with advice thrown in. In this case, all free under Apple warranty.

We needed advice on our MacBook Air. We spoke to `Lewis in the Cheltenham centre and he was most helpful. He explained our lap top needed an update and prepared it, ready to power up when we got home. We were not bombarded with 'techie talk' or sales pressure to up grade. Full marks and many thanks!

Cracked screen protector Belkin

Cracked screen protector Belkin case No. 16945530

I purchased a Belkin screen protector for an iPhone XR that cost £29.99 on the 5th March 2024 because the salesman said “I know its expensive but it is covered even if the screen cover cracks just bring it back to us and we will replace the screen cover”

Went back to the Chelmsford branch of Western computers and was told the screen cover is covered under the warranty however, I must make a warranty claim direct to Belkin and they will send me a replacement screen cover and then take this back to the store for them to fit it.

I submitted a warranty claim on the 30th October 2024 and was informed I would be contacted in 3 - 5 days, after waiting approx two weeks I enquired with Belkin again and was told the screen cover is no longer available and they would process a refund and I should allow 2-3 working days. This was on the 15th November 2024 and to date I have still not heard anything!

Apple should be ashamed of themselves putting their name to Belkin and Western computers!
