Here at WGU, we believe that talent is universal—even if opportunity isn't. Higher education is the best way to bridge that gap, but traditional higher ed wasn't built for the realities facing many of today's students. So we created a university focused on expanding access to education around the country. We've innovated with students in mind, giving them the flexibility and freedom they need to succeed in today's workplace.

Everything was easily accessible. Also, the support from course instructors and program mentors helps alot too.

I really loved the flexibility to work at my own pace as life allowed- fast at times and slower at others. I had great support from my program mentor and instructors. I felt like they all wanted me to succeed.

Earning my Master’s Degree through WGU was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The support I received throughout the program was outstanding. My program mentor was incredibly helpful, always available to guide me, encourage me, and keep me on track.
The flexibility of the program allowed me to balance my education with work and life responsibilities, and the quality of the coursework truly prepared me for the next step in my career.
WGU’s commitment to student success is unmatched, and I’m proud to be a graduate. I highly recommend WGU to anyone seeking a supportive, affordable, and flexible path to a degree.

The way that I could learn on my schedule helped not only to be able to flexibly learn important details in the courses, but it also allowed me to learn very important skills like self-discipline, motivation, and resilience. The instructors, mentors, and coaches were all amazing and truly helped me to succeed in this environment and helped me get through all of the setbacks I would face.

I’ve really enjoyed the platform that WGU has created—it worked exceptionally well for me as an adult learner returning to school after more than 35 years. I appreciated the ability to study independently and progress through my courses at my own pace. One of the highlights of my experience was the relationship I built with my mentor. Her support was invaluable, and it was a true pleasure to finally meet her in person at the Commencement ceremony.
That said, there were a few aspects of the program that I felt could be improved. Specifically, the number and type of required courses sometimes felt excessive. I would have preferred to focus more on classes directly related to my degree. A few courses seemed redundant, and I often found myself questioning why I needed to take them—especially when I had already completed very similar coursework within the same program.

At WGU I was able to obtain my Masters degree in under a year and propell my career forward. Their faculty was knowledgeable and helpful and the program was cost effective. Competency based learning also helped move the program at an appropriate rate for learners.

I loved my experience at WGU! I had always wanted to return to school to earn my Master's Degree, but like so many other working adults, I didn't have the time or money to afford graduate school at a traditional brick-and-mortar university. I eventually found WGU and was able to enroll in a program that aligned with my job (specifically, Master of Education, Education Technology and Instructional Design).
It was an amazing and informative program that let me work on my own time. They had a variety of videos, useful readings, methods for checking for understanding, mentors who checked in with you, and relevant assignments. Best of all, I could work at my own pace. Sometimes I was busy and couldn't even think about school for awhile, and that was ok. Other times, I had more free time and was able to catch up and even accelerate.
I loved the competency based method. There were some classes I was already well-versed in so I just went straight to the Objective Assessment and passed it. The Performance Tasks were also relevant to my degree/job and even fun. It never felt like busy work for the sake of busy work.
I will say that it's important for prospective students to know how to manage their time and focus. You have to have a sense of time management and work ethic. Make sure you have a decent computer and a dedicated space, especially for the proctored tests.
Overall, it was an amazing program. I hope one day to hear that WGU is offering doctoral programs!

Working full time, I thought finding a university that fit my lifestyle would be nearly impossible. Before choosing WGU, I researched several MBA programs that were flexible, affordable, online, and accredited. I narrowed it down to three options, and WGU stood out for three key reasons:
1. Tuition: WGU charges a flat rate per term—so the faster you finish, the more you save. If you’re self-paying, there’s a monthly payment option, and if you need a loan, that’s available too.
2. Program Structure: You study at your own pace with full access to course materials. A dedicated mentor guides you throughout the program, and each course has instructors available for support. You can also join live virtual classes and cohorts for a real classroom feel.
3. Supportive Community: The faculty and staff are incredibly approachable and helpful. I always felt supported and encouraged, which made a big difference during my journey.
WGU isn’t just flexible—it’s empowering. It made achieving my MBA while working full time not just possible, but meaningful.

It was great before but the military support is the worst one there now a days. Do not want to listen to the concern of the students.

WGU will let you move through the program as fast as you want, but their finaid department is full of liars and frauds who will purposely block you from receiving the full cost of attendance, leaving you unable to pay your housing expenses for several months of your full-time enrollment. Do not recommend- go elsewhere.

For a place that teaches cyber security and computer things their website is trash it constantly crashes and half the stuff doesn't work as intended and the people who are supposed to help you either never get back to you or are clueless on how to help you with basic things. took me over 6 months to start due to their incompetence and them just not returning my calls or calling me for our scheduled meetings. also their IT help desk sucks they must have also went to school here.

I completed my undergraduate through WGU and it was a seamless experience. I enrolled in the MSDA program (the new one) and it’s evident this program was rushed. Performance assessments lack clarity and “course instructors” have no idea how to interpret the required tasks or assist with questions. Scheduling a meeting with a “course instructor” is a waste of time. Course materials provided often have nothing to do with the course. Evaluators and “course instructors” are rarely on the same page. Expect your performance assessments to be returned frequently due to that. The quality of this program is less than that of a local community college. Please don’t make the same mistake I did.

As a graduate student of Western Governors University (WGU), I can confidently say that this institution has exceeded my expectations in both flexibility and academic rigor. The competency-based learning model allowed me to progress at my own pace, accelerating through subjects I was already familiar with while spending more time on new or challenging material. This was especially helpful as a full-time federal employee and military veteran balancing work, life, and education.
WGU’s coursework is practical, industry-aligned, and relevant—particularly in the IT and cybersecurity fields. The integration of recognized certifications within the degree path added immediate value to my career. Faculty and course mentors were responsive and supportive, and the online platform was user-friendly and intuitive.
I highly recommend WGU to working professionals looking for a flexible, accredited, and respected pathway to advance their careers.

WGU gave me the opportunity to complete my degree, which I first started 15 years ago. Life happens, and sometimes our goals take longer to achieve than we plan. I am truly grateful to have found WGU, as they helped me turn my long-held dream into a reality. The instructors, program mentors, and support staff are professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to student success. The courses are thoughtfully designed for today’s workforce, with material that is both relevant and immediately applicable. Don’t let the “online university” label mislead you, WGU structures its curriculum and assessments in a way that allows you to directly apply your learning to real-world situations. While some courses may be challenging, you are allowed to complete coursework at an accelerated pace with the support of your mentor and instructors. Their investment in your success is clear every step of the way. I thoroughly enjoyed my time studying at WGU and would gladly pursue another degree with them.

Having done my BSN with WGU made going through the MBA program easier. What really made a difference with the MBA program was my mentor. She pushed me in a good way, and I owe her big time! I do believe this is the difference with other programs, which is that WGU has great mentors who are former students who can relate.

Great School, Great Experience, and dont think that every class is easy because there will be one, two or three that will have you stuck longer than you thought.

The ceremony was very organized. I was wondering how they were going to get more than 500 students across the stage on top of speeches in less than 2 hours, they did it. If you have someone who needs a wheelchair remember to get it from the garage because you were not allowed to bring it outside and it was a little far if you needed to have someone walk to the door. Also have cameras ready because by the ceremony not being in alpha order it was hard to get a nice pic because you did not know when the graduate was coming out. Also remember to smile there were a lot of pics being taken by the WGU team. My family and I enjoyed Kentucky, the alumni celebration and the welcoming committee the staff was very hyped and accommodating.
