shabby workmanship, in all areas, roof still leaking and windows double glazed misting up.....
The worst and most useless company
The worst and most useless company! Don't waste your time and money!!!
No change useless company
No change useless company. The government should stop people like these from setting up business. They start a company then go into liquidation, leaving people with no come back. They then start up a new company, so wrong.
Appalling company!!
As others have said, an appalling company. We had a new front door from them in October 2018 and it was so badly installed by the original fitters that we have had constant problems with it. At our request Window Factory sent other fitters in November who did little to remedy the problems. The biggest issue is that the door frame has been so badly installed that it is very difficult to lock and unlock the door. During the recent warm weather the door has presumably expanded in the direct sunlight and has been unusable. We have instead had to use the patio door at the rear of the house.
In trying to get the problems dealt with by Window Factory we found they had been wound up in December so now we have to pay someone to reinstall the door frame. Grrrr!
Their 'guarantee' is not worth the paper it's written on.
We count ourselves lucky that we did not take up their salesman's quote to replace a number of windows.
In response to Tony Smyth's question below the joint liquidators dealing with Window Factory are Wayne Macpherson and Lloyd Biscoe of Begbies Traynor in Southend-on-Sea.
As has been said in other reviews here, disgraceful that the directors of the company have such a poor track record and will no doubt reappear under some other trading name. The directors of Window Factory are listed in Steve's review below. Watch out for them!!
Terrible company
Shoddy job
We went with this company to replace 4 windows after a cold call. The work was completed fairly quickly but the old windows were ripped out so violently that the walls needed replastering and painting. Less than a year later and the bedroom window has sprung a leak as there is a gap between the frame and the wall. Company website still online but cannot be contacted. Luckily we have 10 year insurance certificate.
This company conned us!
This company conned us. Next time a double glazing salesperson knocks on my door I'll tell them to take a run and jump!
Be warned, these people will be coming back knocking on your door in a couple of months with a different name. Don't be fooled like us by their professionalism they are con men and women.
All seemed well but...
All seemed well, but we have definitely been duped by a the stereotypical double glazing sales man! We were promised FENSA certification but have not received anything and I'm not sure they were ever registered!
Now they are in liquidation so it seems we are stuck paying for windows that are not building regulations compliant!
fraudsters
Had windows fitted to the front of my property never received the 10yr guarantee or FENSA certificate
Does anyone know the name of the liquidator company dealing with their closure
Steve.
Steve..
We like yourselves have done our homework and something isn't quite right . Went to both offices and yep like yourselves an office above a rotary club the London road one ( using it like a p.o. box sort of thing ) and the maltings a warehouse with loads of double glazing materials and 2 fellas annoyed as to where I had got the address from .
We paid a deposit of £5000. In September and then was fobbed off week after week and then signs went down from the front of their Rochester office and then had the gut feeling they went bust and was told a load of lies saying that the signs were being replaced cos they were grubby . Well after a few more lies and then 5th Nov was the start date and no one came I rang and was told a few more lies ie problem with the roof ok so took there word for it and then a few more days went by and still nothing then rang them and found the lines were dead and so I went down there and was told by a professional ( lol who am I kidding professional) sitting with arms behind his back with legs on the desk only to be told the window factory had gone into liqiuidisaton. And was told don't worry about ya 5k Barclays will give it to u back .. haha haha yeh right cos they r so clever about the way you pay a deposit and was told by the sales man they can accept bank transfer only and Barclays said you are not getting it back . Well long story short I have spoken to the administrators today and there is no money left and I'm not getting a single penny .. So the story carries to what next level I don't know ..
Don't go near them
This company treats its customers with absolute contempt. Agreed with all Steve points below.
Our windows were so poorly fitted that the fitter managed to cut the sill shorter than the window, then cut and glued some ends on when he realised his mistake. He left saying "they'll look ok when you put some net curtains over them". We said we weren't at all happy, but he said there was nothing he could do because he didn't have a spare sill with him.
Thinking this was an isolated incident/staff problem, we gave the Window Factory Online the benefit of the doubt and sent photos of the issues. As things stand, the windows don't sit correctly within the frames, one of the catches is missing and our brickwork has also been left damaged.
The office staff apologised and booked a new date for someone else to come out and rectify the issues. Three separate dates came and went - all cancelled by them last minute despite us booking time off work/re-arranging childcare etc. On the last date - 2 months after the windows had been fitted - a guy turned up who said he was totally unprepared for the job and said he couldn't help us. He drove off after 10 mins.
Since then, we've written to the company, tried to call the company but no one has picked up (the line isn't staffed any longer) or had the common decency to get back in touch via email and let us know what our options are.
Companies House says they are still trading. Choosing Windows Factory Online is one of the worst decisions we've ever made. Don't go near them.
A big regret and my worst decision ever made
THIS COMPANY are/were without question the worst company I have ever had to deal with.
Window Factory Online, traded on false promises. Their reliability was shocking and it’s no wonder they have ceased trading under this name and gone into administration.
The owner and associates are renowned for going into administration, ceasing trading and setting up as a new company.
The only person that can hold their head up is a lady called Sophie, who seemed to have a molecule of integrity and a willingness to act. 2 of the fitters we had (of 7 over the months) were also good and had to undo and rectify the shocking craftmanship of their colleagues.
I have a 15-page chronology of events/occurrences and complaints concerning this company.
They had an office/showroom in Rochester, but they were (are) an Essex company with a registered trading/correspondence address (Companies House listed) as:
1386 London Road, Leigh-On-Sea, Essex, United Kingdom, SS9 2UJ. This is just a company front.
The main address where all their companies have operated from is:
Unit 5 The Maltings, Maltings Road, Battlesbridge, Wickford, Essex. SS11 7RH
The following are some names you need to be aware of that are or have been associated with Window Factory Online and/or any other companies linked to it (Source: Companies House).
I recommend you avoid any company they are associated with:
Jamie Mocock – Director/owner
John Grady - Director
Jenny Marie Mocock
Katie Chambers
In addition:
John Stupples – salesman
The above-named individuals are or have been associated with some or all the companies listed below. I have no doubts Window Factory Online will morph into another company, if they haven’t done so already, probably under one of the ‘Think Green’ companies listed below. I believe this/theses are still active at the Battlesbridge address:
• Window factory Online – ceased trading/administration.
Operated from Unit 5 The Maltings, Maltings Road, Battlesbridge, Wickford, Essex. SS11 7RH
(see the ‘Think Green’ companies at same address)
• THE TRADE WINDOW WAREHOUSE LIMITED (06793986) – dissolved
• SALTCOATE TRADE WINDOWS LIMITED (06505145) - liquidation
• TTW WAREHOUSE LTD (07558514) - liquidation
• TRADE ALUMINIUM WINDOWS LIMITED (08288602) – dissolved
• Think Green Investment Services Ltd
• THINK GREEN CONSTRUCTIONS LTD (08975642) – understand company is still active
(Unit 5 The Maltings, Maltings Road, Battlesbridge, Wickford, Essex. SS11 7RH)
• THINK GREEN ENERGY LIMITED (07607281) – understand company is still active
(Unit 5 The Maltings, Maltings Road, Battlesbridge, Wickford, Essex. SS11 7RH)
Window Factory promised that they made all their own windows, but the reality was they were reliant on a partner provider and bought in the glazing units. They also bought in the door panels. They were frauds. I can evidence this by copies of job sheets obtained during installations and the number of replacement units we had to endure.
They were not affiliated to the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF), yet assures you on their website that they adhere to the GGF code.
We were promised a 2-day installation; one fitter turned up. Nearly 6 months later they had just about finished the job, with some snags still pending!
At our request, we even had their very own surveyor turn up TWICE during and after the installation/s and he condemned some of their own work.
No one has every responded to my official complaint in writing, despite it being delivered recorded.
They have traded under several names with both the companies and various directors ‘playing’ the PLC game; liquidation, ceased trading etc
Shocking behaviour and not fit to trade. The owners & managers and sales staff should hang their heads in shame, but no doubt they will crawl out of the plastic work and commit further acts of dishonesty under different guises.
NOTE: if you have had windows/doors fitted by this company I would urge you to check the locking mechanisms. This is where the ‘mushroom heads’ engage with the locking block.
We had several units that did not engage, and we had to have retrospective remedial work. The fitters did not even notice this. I had to raise it with the surveyor on each occasion he visited.
Think that’s enough for now, but have plenty more if needed.
This company has closed down and so…
This company has closed down and so despite all the assurances, industry certifications etc., the 10 year guarantee they promised is now completely worthless.
I would warn anyone who is thinking of window/door replacements to check the location of any prospective fitter's offices and ensure it isn't anywhere in the vicinity of the address of Window Factory Online (Rochester) as they will likely spring-up again as another uPVC fitter, just under another name.
As others have commented, suspicions of this firms 'shadiness' were aroused when fitters failed to turn-up on several occasions when they were scheduled to visit to make corrections to their initial installation.
The 'no-shows' soon became 'no-responses' to any form of communication. It was later discovered that this firm has called it quits.
I've no doubt this firm has left numerous customers awaiting an installation, in need of maintenance for a completed installation or perhaps even out of pocket due to Windows Factory Online having 'taken their money and run'
It's 2018 for goodness sake. How can firms still get away with this sort of thing?!?!?!
Had windows installed had problems but…
Had windows installed had problems but tried to contact them they said they would send someone out to do repairs but no one turned up tried to phone but phone is disconnected - I have read that other people have had this experience - windows were paid for but not by cash hoping I can get some compensation for substandard work
Had conservatory fitted and paid cash
Had conservatory fitted and paid cash. All seemed ok first few months then saw leaking in one of panels in the roof and a section outside not fitted correctly and had started making banging noises. My husband contacted them and they sent someone out to check who decided yes, panel needed replacing and outside section had not been fitted correctly and needed redoing. At this point they made one appointment after another, 3 times in all and did not turn up. My husband was very annoyed to discover they have closed there Rochester base and cleared off. As you can imagine, if they still selling online my advise is avoid!!!
Enquire ASAP
We decided to use this company after a cold call, it was going well, salesman really good and surveyor was good but was struggling to get a fitting date. After getting very frustrated with the company I called the finance company to be told that the company has gone into liquidation, have now cancelled the finance as was within the time period. Please make enquiries if you are in the same position.
My 87 year old mother received a cold…
My 87 year old mother received a cold call at the front door and decided to have a new front door fitted. The surveyer came round 19/6/18 quoated a price she was happy with and paid her deposit of £200 which was deposited in this comapanys bank 27/06. She was told at the time that it would be a month. We are now in November and despite frequent phone calls by her and myself she still has no front door. Six times we have been told someone will call back. No one ever has. On the 5th call last month the youngster who answered the phone said “ oh perhaps we could call the manufacturer “ mmm yes wouldn’t that have been a good idea sooner? The mythacal “someone” was supposed to get back they didn’t.
I phoned a few days later and was told by a different female that it was on the manufacturer job list and it would be done when they get to it and that they wanted my mums money as much as she wanted the door. Unbelievable. I did ask for the manufacturer number but was told this wasn’t allowed. My question is everybody waiting nearly 5 months for their windows and doors?
Such poor customer service.
So they’ve gone bust. So I guess my mum won’t get her door after all and lost her deposit, along with other unfortunates. Wondering if they ever put the order in at all. Disgusting way to treat people.
Window factory have just replaced our…
Window factory have just replaced our fascias and gutters. We paid a bit extra for a professional job rather then getting them covered over. We're really pleased with the result. I would recommend.
not great
Although there were a few delays I have no problem with the installation or the quality of the product, both are fine.
When we were quoted for the job I very specifically asked "Is the amount you are quoting me all I'm going to be paying for this job?"
Was told, "yes, we are not one of THOSE companies"
Sadly I had to pay extra :-(
The guy I talked to about it at windows factory online didn't consider it to be a problem.
Shame, this should have been a 5 star review.
