You ring WOS and it's one excuse after another. No one cares, please do not buy from them, you'll have the same issues.
Poor after sales service
Pre sales service very good. Date of installation put back several days, to 27th February. Scaffolding due to be erected on a Sunday, 2 days prior to installation. No one arrived, even though I was here all day. I had to chase up the next day and it was finally done.
I am still waiting for the completion certificates, three months later. This means I am not being paid for electricity that is exported to the grid.
Having got nowhere with World of Solar office staff, I have emailed Mike Ward, who dealt with the sale, but had no reply.
Let down
At the beginning, WOS were very professional and kept us informed of the process. Scaffolding was put up 1 week before the installation.
The date was put back for the install due to illness (which I don’t believe) finally we got them installed and the sub-contractors were great. System works well and we are pretty much self efficient on electric. However 7weeks in and the scaffolding is still up!! We’ve had no sky due to the scaffolding blocking the transmitter, we can’t use the drive and yesterday our car was in a hit and run (fumming) it’s ruined the grass and we’ve had to reschedule the drive contractors who will possibly not be able to fit us in till Oct and we may loose our £600 deposit!!! WOS don’t seem interested at all.
The after sales, what joke! NO return calls, NO senior staff ever available to talk too, NO-one excepting responsibility! Everyone is either ill or in a meeting (it’s a long meeting and must be a serious illness)
After some investigation I have managed to get hold of the scaffolding company myself who inform me that bills have not been paid to them and they can never get hold of them and don’t receive call backs either!!
On further investigation (thanks to solicitors) this is an ongoing issue!
I’m looking for some form of compensation for all the inconvenience this has caused plus damages.

My advice, go direct to Octopus, British gas etc where customer service means customer service!!!

Have emailed and sent formal letter below and no response to address.
Had the Director Greg say he would get back to me but seems like another weasel avoiding the crap they have sold me.
As noted in the letter below they quoted an “under estimate” annual 3019kWh production and two years later I still have not got near that. I have a sibling 10 houses from me who got and install from another company with less panels and they typically double what my daily yield is.
I am writing to formally address an issue that has been of significant concern regarding the solar panel system installed at my property, which was sold to me by your representative, Sean Malcolm. The purchase decision was heavily influenced by the assurance provided by Mr. Malcolm that the system would produce a minimum annual solar output of 3,019 kWh. Furthermore, he verbally assured me that this figure was a conservative estimate, and that the actual production would likely exceed this minimum. Most importantly, Mr. Malcolm guaranteed that any shortfall from the estimated production would be compensated back to me.
It has been over 12 months since the system was installed, and I regret to inform you that the actual solar production has been substantially below the promised threshold, with only 2,074 kWh generated. This underperformance not only undermines the financial viability of my investment but also contradicts the explicit assurances provided by your representative at the point of sale.
I previously raised my concerns about this issue through letters and emails sent to your technical support person, Connor Doyle, around Monday, 12 June 2023. Despite my attempts to seek clarification and resolution, my concerns were dismissed, and communication was eventually discontinued without any resolution.
Given the circumstances, I request the following actions to be taken as a matter of urgency:
1. A formal investigation into the discrepancy between the promised and actual solar production of my system.
2. Compensation for the shortfall in production as was assured by Mr. Malcolm at the time of purchase.
3. A detailed explanation of the reasons behind the system's underperformance and proposed solutions to rectify the issue.
I had entered into this agreement with World of Solar based on trust and the professional assurances provided by your representatives. The lack of follow-up and disregard for my concerns has been both disappointing and distressing.
Please consider this letter as a formal complaint. I am eager to find a satisfactory resolution to this matter and hope to do so amicably. However, should we fail to resolve this issue, I am prepared to take further legal action to seek compensation for the financial losses incurred due to the underperformance of the solar panel system.
I expect a written response to my letter within 14 days of its receipt, outlining the steps World of Solar intends to take to address this issue.
15 Solar Panels with Equipment Fitted
Very pleased with the process from start to finish. First we were given via a zoom call the sales process which included pictures with an explanation. On the day they were fitted, two guys to fit the solar panels and one electrical guy who were all very professional and very tidy and helpful. All done within the day, even though the weather was not great. Good after sale/fitting correspondence received. Panels and system now working very well. We would definitely recommend this service and company.
Great company and 1 year on we have 80% better return than expected
We've had our panels and batteries installed for one year now and the savings are nearly double what we expected.
I dealt with Leah and found her far more knowledgeable than any of the others companies. She coped well with my changes and while World of Solar were not the cheapest but I felt more confident that they understood what I wanted and could deliver and they have. Many of the others companies seemed keener to sell finance packages rather than panels.
Now one year on from installation we saved 80% more than we expected and this is based on real energy bill data.
Our improvement is due to a combination of
A) switching to Octopus Go with cheaper rate at night
B) tuning the use of the batteries to be charged at cheap rate if needed (with help from W of S)
C) tuning the times of our consumption
The figure should have been a bit higher but it took 3 months for the DNO / Octopus get the export sorted so missed a few months of export

All nice a and good Was a bit of a pain in getting the dates but thats down to my circumstances but they were great in sorting it. The install was Brilliant 3 guys on the job took about 4 hours Brilliant

My solar panel experience
As an amateur in the electricity supply field i spent several weeks analysing the suppliers of solar power, heck there are plenty of them! After estimates from several companies of various setups I settled on “World of Solar”, not the cheapest nor the most expensive but the estimate and information provided made me feel good thanks to a gentleman named Mike Jones (estimator). After this decision was made things started to roll out quickly people were contacting me reference scaffolding start dates paper work etc. all handled in a very friendly efficient manner by ladies namely Mel, Milly and Maidie. Scaffolding and fitters arrived as planned, dates for electrician and panel fitters also. The whole procedure was handled superbly best of all no pressure on me. To finish I would say I would have complete confidence in recommending W of S to any body, a company obviously competent in there business and a pleasure to do business with. At the end of the day I have a working system and contactable people on call if required.

I was most impressed with the process…
I was most impressed with the process from quoting to installation . Slightly disappointed in the time taken to get DNO after installation, so that the exported energy could be earning, but the Christmas break was a factor.
As there seemed to be a few of their installations locally, W of S could have used logistics to reduce their travelling time for the installation teams, as they did for the scaffolding erection and dismantling.
The installation team were particularly efficient and pleasant considering their early start and long travelling time.
Alternative quotes were worse value, poorly explained and long lead times before installation.
A neighbour using a different company had considerable issues which took a long time to get resolved.

This review is for World of Solar maintenance support rather than the installation which was good.
I have a solar array and battery system fitted which all works well but recently the ability to read the app online is not working due to the dongle not communicating to the app.
I have contacted W of S on numerous occasions and eventually I was able to talk to an engineer who talked me through the procedure to bring the app and dongle back on line which was quite complicated. This however failed to work and my system is still off line. (They know this as they can see on their system)
I contacted W of S and asked for a better response as it cannot always be left to the homeowner to sort out these types of issues. I received no response.
I had also signed up to their maintenance contract !!!! Not sure how much ongoing support you would receive without even that.
The measure of a company is not the installation but how it is supported afterwards.
Absolutely fantastic company
Absolutely fantastic company. I honestly can’t recommend them highly enough. They were so efficient and everything went so smoothly. We had lots of quotes as it was a big investment and really did our homework but World of Solar stood out for us. If only all companies were so good!

A good expirence
I spent quite some time looking for solar panel companies.In the end I chose 4 and recieved quotes that varied by as much as £2000. World of Solar were not the cheapest however they were straight forward and honest in there quote. Unlike some of the companies that would tell you what you want to hear. I have to say every element of doing business with WOS was excellent from Andy doing the quote to the office staff who kept me informed at every turn.A special mention foe Mel who went above a beyond so solve an issue with the scaffold. The installation all happened in one day except for a small part that was missing, the guys returned the next day and fitted the part.

Solar panels and inverter fitted
From start to finish the experience has been great the install date was given and never changed .
When the installation team turned up they never stopped from start to finish very professional and a pleasure to talk to , unfortunately once finished there was a fault with one of the parts and they tried their utmost to resolve it unfortunately they had to come back the next day but with us both working they help us by fitting it around both our work commitments once the faulty part was changed the technician explained things in stages so we could understand and work it .
A big thanks goes to Andrew SOuthan who was instrumental in getting this sorted for me and Mel for all her correspondence through email and calls .
I would recommend this professional company in the future if anyone is having solar panels

Good reliable company and product but let down by software
My solar panel and battery is one year old today. The installation went well and the product has proved very reliable apart from one occasion having to go into the loft to reboot the system.
My problem is the operating software provided by GroWatt, Although it responds to changing the operational regime of the battery/panels well and World of Solar have been very responsive in actioning any changes requested the data displayed is confusing. The display interface is brilliant but what it measure does not allow comparison with data on my smart meter. For instance the readings for imported power do not include power imported which goes into the battery. The records for power exported do not agree with my smart meter readings (15% difference) but no explanation can be given. I am unsure if the data is accurate or is giving an over optimistic picture.
In summary I would say good company but if accurate data is important to you I would look for a different supplier operating different software

I was sold battery storage promised…
I was sold solar battery storage promised instal within a couple of weeks & could fit in my loft . Unfortunately had to chase up took 5weeks to install due to no engineer in the area & didn't know when they could install but still sat on a huge deposit of my money. It couldnt go in my loft had to go in my conservatory taking up the middle of a wall in my living space . The engineer was perplexed why I was sold the battery when other options could go in the loft. Said half day install even with 2 guy coming from another job cancelled because they were also sold a loft system that wasn't able to be fit in the loft . I now have 2 big chunks of white boxes plus power boxes conduit intrusive in daily living space. I'm beginning to think i should have cancelled too & gone with 'Solar Battery Group' who were £400 cheaper for exactly same equipment & promise to install in the loft even though battery was heavy. The fitter was a great guy & was perplexed why the sales people are selling under false pretences not the fitters fault.
Note ...there was no proper survey done or offered just 'yes we can do it in your loft' don't trust an over the phone sales pitch like World of Solar offer.
World of solar also offered a price match which I requested when I got a cheaper quote , I stayed with them as they talked me into it & trusted them but should have gone with others as they ignored the request for price match havnt heard anything since.
Would check out other companies as must have tried selling a system for best profit rather than looking after the customer requests to have a non daily usable item hidden away to not take up daily living space.
Obviously World of Solar have to protect their image after sitting on a large deposit only contact was to demand payment with no after sales service not even a receipt for payment. I had 3 cheaper quotes with only a small deposit required however feared for my large deposit returned
Only correspondence was to question my review. I have a right to review my hard earned money without being questioned .
Consider options when purchasing choose a company not expecting a large percentage of the total quote.

World of Solar Energy Storage Install
World of Solar came recomended to me by a friend. The initial contact was by email then by phone. I found World of Solar very responsive and helpful. Once the installation date had been booked, I had regular calls to keep me up to date. The installers arrived as arranged, and completed on time and left a very tidy installation. The system looks great and is working very well.
