Let down by another supplier
Having been let down by a previous supplier after 8 months of waiting I obtained quotes from a number of other companies. Although not the cheapest for a 14-panel system with battery, World of Solar were the most professional and offered the best technical specification. Lee was very knowledgeable in recommending the latest ‘high voltage’ type of battery and inverter to meet the high load spike electrical needs of our house. The Zoom calls we had were very useful in enabling the real-time sharing of information. Within a week of signing the contract I had been given an installation date by Jade (3 weeks later) and Ian had visited to undertake a very detailed survey of my property and agree the battery and inverter location and wiring routes. The scaffolding arrived as scheduled on the day before installation and I received confirmation that the team would arrive the next day. Alex and the team were very friendly and courteous and immediately set to work on one of the hottest days of the year. The work both on the roof and inside was carried out in a very professional and tidy manner with all waste packaging being removed. A day and a half later the system was generating and the battery charging. Within a week I had received the DNO confirmation and MCS certification from Milly and Harriet to enable me to export surplus power. Only 7 weeks from my first contact with World of Solar to being set-up on an export tariff with my supplier, Octopus Energy. Fantastic service – thank you.

From the initial contact with Dave it has been a great experience. I obtained several quotes from other companies to compare and went on a journey of discovery about various systems. Panels were similar across companies, but battery systems were the differentiator. The system suggested by Dave was proposed to be capable of handling higher loads, like having dishwasher, washing machine and kettle on at the same time. Dave was very patient, answering all my questions. From deciding to proceed to install was a day under 3 weeks (This was much quicker than I was expecting). It was all well organised and I was kept fully informed by Jade throughout.
On installation day Hafiz and his team did a fantastic job and explained the system before they left. Since the system has been live I have imported very little electricity from the grid and the system has met my expectations.
Would highly recommend World of Solar.

To be more eco friendly and save some money, I decided last year to have solar panels fitted. So, I checked out 3 companies, and decided on World of Solar, after their good reviews here.

Its a lot of money to outlay for a long term reward. From the outset, their salesman (senior), a guy named Steve was considerate, friendly and efficient, even after I changed battery size 3 times (from a 6KW to a 3KW, and back to a 6KW). he didn't quibble, or tell me that it wasn't possible, he just changed the contract and sent it over for signing.
Lily in finance, was efficient and polite at all times.
Others that contacted me from the company were also polite and efficient.
The fitter(s) and the electrician were on time, super polite and efficient.

My experience with World of Solar has only been positive. From working through the technical specs of my requirements (+my endless questions!), Ordering, installation and final installation pack, they were always quick, informative and responsive.

The installation team were excellent. They drove 2 hours to get to my house, worked an 11 hour day then drove home. the three guys were polite, tidy, and helpful. I caught them a couple of times through the day and asked the 'hows it going?' question and each time they explained their status and what they were currently working on. Their supervisor was clear in stating they made decisions from the viewpoint that this was their house and how they have pride in their work.
All kit has worked perfectly from day one (also, even though my install is only small, I have been feeding the grid not drawing anything since installation :) )

The office staff throughout were quick to respond, and informative of the process from begining to end.

World of Solar were great from first contact to after care. They answered al our questions and were always easy to contact. They got the job done quickly and efficiently. There were no problems and it was all explained to us thoroughly. We are very happy with the project and have changed supplier as they suggested for a better export rate. World of Solar fitted our system on the 18th April 2023, the installers were very professional and friendly, we have 4.7Kw of panels and 2 x 5.2 Kw batteries. They arrived at 10.00am and the system was all up and running by 5pm. Our electricity usage in March was £121, this dropped to £83 in April and £17 in May which was our first full month with solar. On a sunny day now we are exporting around 15Kwh back to the grid and are looking for ways to use this excess ourselves to reduce our gas bill as well. We can highly recommend world of solar and the whole team.

World of Solar understand that good communication is key to a successful customer experience. From the original quote phase through to installation and completion they have been excellent, happy to explain options and alternatives and to provide suggestions to achieve best possible outcome.
Initial contact was with Mike Ward who patiently described pros and cons of different configurations , sizes, storage etc . Then a site visit to check for any potential snags and to verify measurements etc. Once complete over to Jade to organise a mutually agreeable installation date, followed swiftly by contact from Laura to organise erection of scaffolding ahead of install. All carried out in a friendly and proactive manner. Scaffolding arrived om day scheduled but would have appreciated a heads up on potential time of arrival to avoid potential problems over shared drive. All up in a few hours , efficient , tidy and respectful of property.
Then install team led by Mikhael plus Gabriel and Bodi. Can't praise these guys enough, spent extra time making sure all cable runs were as hidden as possible when they could easily have gone for a quicker but more visually intrusive alternative, Mikhael using his years of experience suggested slight changes to layout which has I am sure reduced further any shading effect and maximised our potential output.
It was a pleasure to see someone who took such pride and care in doing his best. Delighted with the result.

I would unreservedly recommend WOS , when first embarking on this project I was concerned about how to choose not only the correct product but the right company. WOS employ people who do care , who communicate , and who prioritise in doing the best job possible over expediency. Something I am afraid increasingly rare these days. Good customer service from the start to finish.Alan was great explaining the setup and kept well informed of progress pre installation. All dates kept to with no delays. First class job by the installation boys especially as I'm an electrician.

From the 1st phone call with Lee through to several chats with Milly and Jade to the team who installed my system, all within 6 weeks the service was superb. Up and running, neat job and no issues at all. Would and have already recommended World of Solar

A fantastic experience from the first phone call to the end of installation. All at a fair and reasonable price. The installation crew were superb. Worked until 8-30pm on a Friday to get the job finished and deal with a few problems on the way.

[Edit] Following my initial three-star review, I am very happy to say that World of Solar have gone the extra mile to ensure my satisfaction, and I now feel able to give a five-star review.
The problem with the positioning of the panels on the flat roof has been rectified, and I now look forward to the system operating at peak efficiency.
I am confident that their customer support has improved greatly since our initial installation, and that World Of Solar really do care about customer satisfaction.
Alex and Taz, the installers arrived promptly and fixed the shading problem quickly and efficiently.
Also, WoS now appears to have a knowledgeable and responsive technical support team, who are happy to deal with technical questions as they arise.
While the problems I outlined in my original review were indeed real, I am impressed with the way WoS has responded to my need for support, and resolved all the issues in a friendly and business-like fashion.
I certainly would recommend World of Solar to anyone considering a domestic Solar PV installation.

[Original review] The survey seemed fine, and pre-installation communication was very good.
Installation didn't really go very well, a lot of time was wasted with materials not being delivered on time, and the installers having to waste a lot of time running around sourcing things that should been delivered but weren't. Also, the wrong inverter was supplied. This meant that what should have been a one day installation turned into two days, and then a further day, ten days later, to install optimisers that were left off the original installation, and to install the correct inverter, resulting in the system not working properly until they were installed. Following this, we asked for a further two panels, and a second battery to be installed, as the survey indicated that there was still space for more panels.
In the event, it turned out that the survey was incorrect, and the extra panels could not be installed on the pitched roof as planned. This resulted in them being installed on the flat roof, with the result that some of these panels are now partly shaded by the extra ones that were installed there, so the system is not operating to its nominal capacity.
Communication following installation was not great, and it seemed that Lizzy Pegg was the only person who would take my calls, and I must say, she she was great, and handled it all very well.
The installers left a lot of debris in the gutter, which blocked the gutter, resulting in it overflowing when it rained.
After some complaining, I got to speak to Daniel, the MD, and he resolved the issues that I had fairly promptly, and, In fairness, deducted the cost of gutter clearing from the final invoice, but that was extra hassle that I could have done without.
My biggest issue has been that it appears impossible to get any kind of post-sales technical support from WoS. Although given a name and number for technical issues, but when calling that number, or using WhatsApp, I have always encountered an answering service with no message, and never once have I received a reply from that name and number. I have had to rely on information from internet sources to answer my technical queries.
So, in summary, WoS do what they say they will do, and the product they supply is good, but in my experience, things did not go as smoothly as they could have done. I'd like to have been able to leave a five star review, but there really were too many hiccups, some of which remain unresolved, for me to do that.

It's a big decision. Choose carefully. WoS have a good reputation for a reason. They want to get things right for you and it shows in their service and follow up. I'm absolutely delighted with the outcome of the installation of my system and the professional support that was provided at every stage. I'd certainly go to them again, and would recommend them to anyone.

Great communication throughout the whole process (which took about 6 weeks from initial contact to completion of the installation). Everything was fully explained, even my dumb questions!

Once I had decided to go ahead with the installation of the panels and battery, I was kept informed as to when the scaffolding would be put up and when the team would be round to do the actual installation.

Come the day of the installation, the team (3 of them) arrived on time, polite and respectful (even offered to remove their shoes when coming into the house).

The installation was completed within 6 hours and the system operational by 2pm. The work areas were left tidy and I was also given a run through of the installation and how the monitoring app worked on my phone.

I also had follow up calls from the office team to check on the progress and next steps in getting the necessary documentation in place for the Smart Energy Guarantee. The office team also coordinated in getting the scaffolding removed.

Overall, the service was excellent and I am very happy with the whole experience

The team of fitters and electricians arrived promptly and set about the installation of 23 solar panels, 3 batteries and 2 inverters. All the work took a day and a half
They were very neat and tidy and left the site spotless. Although these guys were a fairly local contractor World of Solar were on hand throughout the whole process to guide me through it.
