Uber is a better alternative to 001 taxis in Oxfordshire

I love supporting local businesses, but being local is not an excuse for complacency. I prebooked a 001 taxi to take me to the station, only for the allocated car to arrive around 30 minutes late. When I called to check, I was told it was “rush hour with lots of school traffic” — an explanation that did nothing to address my prebooking or my need to catch a train.

There was no apology and no concern for letting me down. Uber arrived in under ten minutes. Sadly, in Oxfordshire it seems you’re better off using Uber than relying on the local unreliable 001 Taxis. Supporting local businesses should not mean accepting poor service.

Unreliable.

Unreliable.
We had booked a taxi for a hospital appointment and the taxi failed to arrive, despite us receiving a text to say it had arrived! When we texted back to ask where it was we received no answer. The company was good at sending a replacement when we phoned but it meant a late arrival at the hospital.

Professionalism all the way.

The driver was on time, very polite and helpful. When possible, the conversation was very pleasant, sharing different experiences and perspectives on life.
