Outdoor furniture is not really for outdoor

I bought some outdoor chairs and kept them in a shaded area during the summer. Despite not being in direct sunlight, they were completely ruined by the high temperatures outside. Even though they are still under the warranty period, ACE decided not to respond, claiming I should have bought a cover for each chair. No one informed me of this at the store, nor was it included in the instructions when I purchased them. They were sold for outdoor use! This makes no sense.

You can no longer trust Ace Hardware

What a disappointment. Ace Hardware used to be a name you could trust. I took a chance on them for old time's sake and they failed me. Never again. The item I wanted wasn't in my local store but it was in stock at other locations 10 plus miles away. They said they could deliver it for free to the store near me. I paid for it online on a Tuesday morning. I needed the item that following Saturday. I figured that would be no issue. I also joined their website so I could be notified easily. On Friday I logged in to my account and it said I had made no orders. I called the customer service number and kept getting transferred to line that would disconnect me, so I called my local store. The manager said he found my order and they were suppose to receive it that Tuesday. I ask him to cancel the order but he said he couldn't. So I started calling the customer service line again. After several tries I eventually reached an overseas agent. He said it was in transit and couldn't be canceled until it reached the store. A refund couldn't be processed until it was cancelled by the store. He added it would take 7 to 10 days after that to get my funds back on my card. I wasn't very happy about that but what really made me mad was when I got a notification from my card that the payment wasn't processed until after I spoke to their customer service agent. Ace Hardware, a once great company is dead and gone. All that remains is a hungry ghost of it's former self, too desperate to trust.

My lawnmower self propel mechanism…

My lawnmower self propel mechanism hadn't worked for a long time. I had replaced the belt but it still wouldn't work. I called the Soni Ace Hardware, Woodstock, GA and spoke to the lawnmower repairman, Mark Arnold. I told him I desperately needed it but didn't know if I could get the mower loaded in the car by myself, as everyone around me in the neighborhood is working. He even offered to come by my house after he got off to take a look at it!
I did manage to get it loaded, took it to him and he immediately turned it over and surveyed the situation. He made an adjustment to the cable on the handle and got it working in 15 minutes.
Mark is a great asset to this store and I can't speak highly enough of him. 😊

Not sure why Ace has such low reviews

Not sure why Ace has such low reviews. They are actually a wonderful hardware store. They have a little bit of everything and you don't have to walk a football field length to get it. Also, their customer service compared to other hardware stores is much better. Ace is the helpful place!

Never under any circumstances purchase…

Never under any circumstances purchase anything from this corporation's website. I bought a Toro Mower a week ago (order #497679929) and, according to the information on their website, it was supposed to arrive at the local store on Friday. When I called the local store, they said they had no information and the truck with equipment sent from the warehouse was expected on Saturday. On Saturday, my order was not in the truck, and the local store said they knew nothing and couldn't help me. I called website customer service and was surprised to learn that they hadn't even attempted to ship my order and didn't know why this was happening. After my request to connect me with a supervisor, I waited 15 minutes only to find out that there are no supervisors on Saturdays. I have never in my life encountered a more inadequate and unreliable interface than this company's. The site doesn't load, there are endless errors, and it took 30-40 minutes just to place any order. Customer support has no idea about orders and can't even provide current information, let alone address more serious issues. The existing model of relationships with independent stores is obviously unsustainable, and I wouldn't be surprised if they go bankrupt. At the very least, the huge number of people complaining about their work even here will be spared from problems with a corporation that doesn't value its customers.

Ordered an item I really really needed…

Ordered an item I really really needed for delivery to a store as I figure this would be the most reliable and they gave me a delivery date to the store and when that date came I found out that they had never even shipped it. Customer service was clunky about answering questions. Their logistics on ordering online is poor and unreliable.

At the end of the call I told the agent I was very frustrated that I placed an order for delivery and you all didn't ship it and she had the neve to gas light me and tell me "that isn't true". This is the end of every shopping at any ACE. Your customer service hurts your local stores.

The location in Freeland WA on Whidbey…

The location in Freeland WA on Whidbey Island marks up their prices over 150% from what the item should actually cost. When confronting a customer service person about a cheap firepit that normally sells for about $40, I asked why they were selling it for over $120? She said hmm, ohh... that's the "in-store price". Uhhh... what?? So I went to the Ace website and sure enough, there it was for about $40. I've bought a few of these in the past. She said if I ordered it online and choose "pick up at location" then I could walk out with it for the ACTUAL PRICE of $40. What in the hell is this business? Why would you put your customers through this hassel?? Then there was the simple aluminum casted bistro table set that sells from most companies for around $140 to $160.. This Ace location had a price tag of $360 on it. There are a lot of senior citizens in this community and I immediately just got a bad feeling like this place is actually trying to take advantage of that hoping someone would actually pay that without checking the real prices from other places. It's disgusting what this location is doing and I now know that if I need something from there because no other place has it.... I need to order online first and "pick up from location". I will say that the customer service and sales people there are very nice, so this must be a decision by that particular location owner. They should be ashamed.

Canceled without a reason

Trying to order a window air conditioner online is futile. I finally received a confirmation e-mail after a second attempt to purchase, only to be notified that the order was again canceled. There are other resources for A/C units; Ace will not be on the list.

I went to the store

I went to the store, stated my name to the cashier and informed her that I needed to collect my on-line purchase. The cashier informed someone that I had a pick-up order. The cashier asked me what I’d ordered and again I provided my name stating that the order was in my name. The cashier again requested to know what the items were, so again, I provided my name and informed her that my order should have my name attached to the bag. After a third attempt to get me to name the items, I stated that there should be a bag in the store in the name of Schuyler Williams as I received a confirmation email. The cashier did not relent so, I tried to recall the items that I’d purchased, which was a little difficult, as I was confused as to why I needed to prove my purchase via naming the contents of the bag. After the four or fifth attempt, I relented and named the items in the bag. Once I did this, a second staff member immediately went into the back area and returned with my package which had a receipt in my name stapled to the order. I find it extremely upsetting that I was questioned in front of other staff and customers and forced to prove that I’d purchased the items via playing a game of “What’s in the bag”. My name, which was also the name attached to the order, should have been sufficient to collect my purchase. A verbally presented name that matches the name on the receipt attached to the purchase was not enough. To collect my on-line order, the staff of Ace Hardware (18844) in DeLand, FL, forced me to tell them what was in the bag thereby proving that I’d purchased those items and was not stealing items belonging to another customer. This type of attitude and behavior towards a customer is not only reprehensive, it and devalues the basic definition of good customer service.

My family has shopped here for years

My parents and grand parents have shopped here for years. Typically the one in Bellevue due to distance, but plenty here as well. I helped them get a dehumidifier and messed up by getting a humidifier, the box was next to each other. My fault. I used the Ace Rewards and accidentally threw away the receipt. I sent the screen shots showing the purchase to my parents so they could return it and this Ace, by personal decision making of the owners per corporate customer service, say no paper no return. So basically, the rewards account means zero to them. I will personally make sure every website I can review on will get this review and that no other friend or relative go to this Ace. Small town feel hardware with corporate stick it to you business policy.

Where is the place with the helpful hardware folk?

I have loved Ace hardware over the years. Yesterday was a shock. I needed one good pulsating sprinkler to attach to a hose for a small garden bed. I asked if someone could show me how to adjust it. No one was interested, not even the store manager. He said he didn't have time to Google it even thought there were no other customers waiting.
I went home and finally figured it out myself. I hope this is an anomaly. This Ace store is in Skyland in South Asheville, NC.

Married Landon Bowls delivers himself

Married Landon Bowls frequently flirted with & had inappropriate relations with the women he delivered to from Lenexa KS. Many stops were made when there were no deliveries or pickups. Many women rode in the ACE delivery truck. Many times Landon wasn’t off work until 6pm when everyone else was off at 5pm.

Ace Hardware, "The Helpful Hardware Place" Keene, Kennewick, WA - Helpful No More!

My son purchased his first weed whacker this weekend, and I went with him to help him get the right tool. We settled on the Stihl Weed whacker and, with extra cord and supplies, we spent over $240 at Ace that day. The salesperson assured us that they "always check their equipment to make sure it works before it leaves the store." They took the weed whacker to the back of the store for approximately 10 minutes and returned, claiming they had started it and topped it off. However, when we got home and tried to use it, it wouldn't start; it was flooded. It never started while in our possession. I've owned yard equipment for years and knew something was wrong.

We attempted to return it to the store, but were told there was no manager present, so a return couldn't be processed. The salesperson instructed us to return on Tuesday to speak to the manager. When we returned on Tuesday, we were initially told the manager, Joe, wasn't in the store as he was out doing deliveries. After waiting, we left to run errands, and upon returning, we were informed that Joe was back. However, it seemed chaotic, with a propane delivery person also expressing concern about the delay. Despite repeated calls to the back, Joe didn't appear until 2:30 pm, and when he finally emerged, he seemed dismissive and didn't introduce himself as the manager. He denied our return, accusing us of flooding the weed whacker, despite it never working. It was a disappointing experience, and it felt like the "Helpful Hardware Place" was anything but helpful. Joe at Ace Hardware of Keene in Kennewick, WA, did not prioritize our issue, even though my son had spent a week's worth of wages on a product that never functioned. How disappointing, Ace Hardware. At this point, I'd rather give my money to big box stores; at least they are polite when refusing service.
