Customer service very poor with no resolutions

I tried to take off seats we bought on return trip from Madrid to JFK. The first person hung up on me.
The 2nd person, Laura, said she was not authorized to take off an expense ( 5 weeks in advance; we wanted to take seats they assigned rather than spend $70 for 2 passengers) Laura furthermore, did not know who could help me. In other words, no one in the company can take off expenses. Extremely disappointed with customer service.
The management responded on another site I left a review. Only said sorry and still no resolution. The management didn’t even respond to the person who hung up on me. It must be difficult working for this airline with such poor communication and resources.

terrible experience with Air Europa.

terrible experience with Air Europa.
I flew from Medellin to Paris in August 2025 with checked baggage. When I arrived home and unpacked, I discovered that some of my belongings had been stolen (about €500 worth of lost belongings). I then sent an email within 24 hours. No response. I called customer service, who told me to fill out a form. No response. Online, they told me to go to the airport: I went to the airport counter. No response on the intercom. Since then, I've been sending emails to different departments, which reply automatically with different procedures each time. I've even sent a message on Messenger: each message is handled by a new person, to whom I have to repeat my situation. Finally, one of the employees told me that Air Europa is not responsible for the contents stolen from my suitcase BECAUSE I SHOULD HAVE CHECKED all the contents of my suitcase before leaving the airport. - in other words, emptied my suitcase at the luggage carousel levels, which no one does. It's an absolute disgrace, the process is unclear and there is no customer service - we are talking about more than 500 euros of theft. I had taken out private travel insurance, but I can't even use it because for that to happen, Air Europa has to acknowledge its liability. I hope to receive compensation quickly. Overbooking complaint handling/settlement

10 months after flight date still a hassle to get a legally obliged compensation. Due to overbooking of a flight in December 2024 a family of 5 could not board the plane. In first matter ruining a complete day with 3 children, waiting 9hours on the next flight in the airport. Legal compensation form was submitted in the airport and was going to take 3 weeks according to the helpdesk at the airport.

10months further and numerous calls and emails. While they say on the phone we are correct and entitled to. They do not settle at all in reality and are not willing to confirm anything on mail. Calls take more than 1 to 2hours to get transferred to a person which supposed to help out. Something which could've been settled in a correct matter is now escalating in further steps to be taken, as nothing is being done. This company is a disaster in complaint handling and is giving us a terrible experience.

Horrible Experience Overall

This is my second time flying air Europa and the experience both times has been an absolute nightmare. The attendants are extremely rude, (I was told mid flight I needed to pay for water), the airplane did not have air conditioning and the seats are abnormally small for economy international flights. The planes are old and the seats are so uncomfortable and narrow. Impossible to be comfortable. Overall experience has always been a negative one. I will no longer be flying them after giving them a second chance.

Lost luggage no reimbursement

Air Europa lost my luggage and they ended up shipping my luggage back to my home in the United States. I was without any luggage for the entirety of my stay and they refuse to reimburse me for a single thing I had to purchase while in Europe (was there for 9 days). The worst customer service for an airline I have ever experienced. They claim in their bylaws that they reimburse for lost luggage and necessities for your stay. It’s a lie. They won’t pay a dime. Will never fly this airline again.

The costumer service is not helpful

The costumer service is inadeqate, the administrators are often rude, they often do not understand English, it is difficult to understand them too.
I tried to explain my request and they were not helpful.
I booked a return flight, the passenger missed the boarding for the outbound flight, so I could not get a refund for the 2nd flight, they laughed at me when they told me, I can get back the taxes (31,50EUR) but they will charge me so eventually it will be only 13 EUR. This costed me 6 phone calls, each 30 minutes at least.

Anytime again, great value for price!!!

So, there are a lot of negative reviews around and i fully support that people need to raise these points, however, most people who comment are motivated by a negative experience and do not bother to comment when they had positive experiences. I had read the horrific reviews of air europe and was seriously concerned, but i cannot comment anything really negative on a madrid to asuncion flight. Below i address some comments i had read.

1. Extra charge for luggage: i carried a backpack with two laptops and a load of electronics. They did not weigh the handluggage nor did anyone have to pay any extra for overweight baggage as far as i could tell.

2. I read they do not serve food or charge for food and even water: NOT true! Food was actually very good, free of charge ans you can ask anytime for water or just get it bybyourselv in the mid sections.

3. Staff is unfriendly: NOT true. Staff was incredibly helpful and caring! MUCH better then e.g. Iberia.

4..planes: they had dreamliners of the latest generation, super clean and apparently i am still alive haha

5. Someone said they dont have entertainment or ypu have to pay: all entertainment was free and plenty, including latest HBO and hollywood releases as well as a nice selection of more modern content like diary.of a ceo.

6. Internet on board! Extra cost but well worth on a long haul if you are a non-sleeper like me

Terrible is being nice

Terrible is being nice. I was not able to pay for my luggage online so I called and waited 1 hr and I was told I could pay at the airport since the app was not working and the would honor the online price. The price is 70 online. When I got to the airport I was told that it was too late and now the price was $138.00 . Keep in mind I have 5 people $138 x 5!!!. They would not honor what I was told. I called back customer service and they said they could bot help me and to go back to the counter . Keep in mind I am already at my destination by the time they answered.

0 Service Orientation

Where do I start?
First incident: First flight was late, second flight did not wait. I was rebooked and landed 22 hours later than expected. Against EU law they did not compensate, I am suing them now.
Second incident: They destroyed my suitcase, months later I am still waiting for response.
Third incidence: I booked a business class ticket and they were hiding the information that business class in that booking class does not give the XP airline points - an information that is absolutely intransparent at time of booking. Because of that I lost my mile status and the customer service does not help.

Awesome Customer Service!

Moving from Canada to Spain with 2 kids and a cat, I booked a flight with Air Europa, but made a mistake and booked it for 7am instead of 7pm. Called (a month later after booking!) 3 days before my flight when I discovered my mistake and I received the top of the line customer service! Can't praise them enough. Andres was super helpful and cheerful and understanding. My flight got changed to the right time and with no additional fees. Exceptional customer service, especially for airline. Thank you guys so much!!

Just flew 787 Dreamliner from Madrid to Miami 2nd April 25 and returned 30th April. I was fearful given the reviews I had read before travelling but I have to say , flights on time , food good, service excellent and I would have no hesitation flying transatlantic with them again.

STAY AWAY

The worst airline I travelled with, along with Egyptair. We were literallly held hostages for two hours inside the plane at Madrid Airport, without information of any kind and the airplane staff threathened to call the Police to get the protesting passengers out of the plane. On top of that, during the flight, no one offered us even a snack, as we were supposed to pay for them. My advice is: STAY AWAY!!!!

WORST AIRLINE... EVER

There were a number of issues on this flight, to sum it to be the worse flight I have ever been in. I will list them below:

I pre-ordered a meal, because I knew I wouldn't have enough time to eat, because your flights are "Always" late.
Well, once on the plane the Wrong food brought out me, I paid an additional 19 euros extra to have that special meal, and i did not receive it, not until 30 minutes before the plane was landing in Miami, which honestly was even more upsetting, that they had my meal the whole time and never brought it, 8:30 hours later.

During the flight I requested one of the stewardess for wine, she said, she was going to bring it in a few minutes, which never happened, over an hour later I reminded her about the wine, and again, she acknowledged but never brought it.

Nearly two hrs later, I pushed the button "crew call", and after 15minutes going unattended, the light was simply turned off and no one came, I clicked the crew call again and another 20 min went by and no one came, i finally signaled the guy attendant that was on the other lane, he came over, and I explained to him what was going on and he brought the wine (nearly 2 hrs later).

I have never been in plane where the service was so poor. The lack of attention, awareness, and etiquette of these two stewardesses in charge of our lane was baffling.

On top of it all, Wi-fi was completely inoperable, not even for purchase.

Overall a great experience

I was worried by poor reviews. We recently travelled London-Madrid-Havana and back. The planes were new and clean. All flights left on time. The inflight service was excellent - friendly and responsive. The food in Economy was not great, but hot and tasty, with a decent glass of red wine. As good as any other budget airline. Check in was fast efficient and courteous. It was all around a good experience, and our experience bears no resemblance to the poor reviews on line. I have no idea how they might respond when things go wrong.

Left a small bag with important…

Left a small bag with important personal items on a flight, they couldn't give a crap....

I understand the theory behind using AI to match a customer's lost things with the items found on a plane. I accidentally dropped a nylon bag with keys, a national ID, some Asian Foreign currency, an address book and a wallet with credit cards under the seat and moments after leaving the plane on the tranist bus, realized what I did.

I immediately notified the annoyed Air Europa employee in Lost & Found and I told her exactly where it was. She informed my that the plane was already locked (I don't believe this as I figurd that planes need to be cleaned and i had just gotten off). I asked her what time the plane was leaving tomorrow and I requested her to notify the cleaning staff so that I could get my items back. I do not have confidence that this was done

I have heard nothing for 10 days. Nothing at all. I have no idea if the item was found or not and if it was if it was when it will be logged in the system. If it wasn't found, then it is still undr the seat. If it was found and the employee did not properly handle it, it willl be lost forever at great personal inconvenience. Since there was some Hong Kong dollars in it, I suspect that an employee may have taken the bag.

Given the exact nature of the location, timing and incentives, it appears to me as airlines utilizing FoundSpot actually are not incentivized to be dilligent in finding items and are hiding behind this system. We have no ability to push employees to locate the times and identify those empoyees that may have been in touch with the item. It actually encourages empoyees to take property of the customers with no consequences since the airlines have eliminated the ability of customers to follow up. Somebody put $1500 (Eur 175) Hong Kong dollars in their pocket. Someone had to go to a money exchange to change this. Someone had to give their ID to do so as in Spain they require ID for everything. This system just has no chance of working since the customer has no leverage BY DESIGN.

I will Make sure that Air Europa management is made aware of this and that IATA is copied on all my correspondence so that they are aware of this ineffective system

Worst experience ever - AVOID

PLEASE HEED THESE REVIEWS AND DO NOT FLY WITH THESE TOTAL COWBOYS

We were due to fly to Cuba, via Madrid on 21st February for a very special occasion we’d had planned for a long time. Our first flight was delayed, and delayed, and delayed due to several technical issues.

We were kept waiting with no information & no one to help, only one representative in the airport who had to work for the first 20 hours of the delay. We were kept on an overheated plane while engineers attempted to fix these issues.

The flight was ‘rescheduled’ to 25 hours later, only after a second attempted flight meant we were on the plane until 4am. Due to this, the airline decided to assign a new onward itinerary, which would have meant us flying / travelling for over 3 days without sleep.

The customer service centre were UNABLE to help us move our booking, provide any updates or any support whatsoever - they just kept telling us that the airport should have, which is not correct!! There are no airline desks anymore.

After a laborious 24 hours of misinformation & ZERO support, we decided to cancel our flight for a refund, as we were not confident we would either get to our destination, or be able to return. This should legally be immediate due to the circumstances … it took 3 phone calls & speaking to 5 different people to be told the ‘refund request’ would take a minimum of 2 weeks.

I’ve never experienced such awful service, PLEASE don’t travel with them
