Downgrade without excuse and refund!

Our ordered car was not available, so we got a downgrade (other lower category)! They didn't even excuse and they declined a refund by stating that the rented car was also suitable for 4 passengers! My impression is that they do this on a frequent basis and it seems that it is part of their business model. Never again!

Better than expected

I was a little worried about booking through these based on the reviews, but they were the cheapest by far. However, on the whole, I was actually pretty impressed. When I landed (SJO), I wasn't sure where to go so sent them a WhatsApp. They replied quickly and came to pick me up. The rental process was quick and smooth, with friendly staff. There wasn't too much of a push for a higher insurance level either. The car itself wasn't the best (worked fine, but no A/C or windscreen blowers which made it pretty uncomfortable). However, I was happy for the price I paid!

Rented at San Jose in Costa Rica

Rented at San Jose in Costa Rica. I travel often and rent cars 4-5 times a year. This was by far the best rental experience I have ever had.
They were there at the airport to receive me. Drove me immediately to the rental site which was just 2 mins away. The service person was very professional and expedicious. For the first time ever, no one ever tried to upsell me a different car or service or insurance.
The return was super quick and professional.
It was a pleasure dealing with this company which I cannot say about most other rental companies including some of the major ones.

We rented a car at Amigo Cars Costa…

We rented a car at Amigo Cars Costa Rica

We had to wait more than 1,5 hours for the car we orderd, then they gave us a different car.

We payed an advance of ± € 130 when we booked our car online and in the confirmation mail was written that they should deduct it from the total price, but when we went to get our car they told us it was for the booking site and they wont deduct it from the price, that was higher than agreed on in advance.

Normaly we had everything coverd, but they told us it wasn't true, so we had to get more expensive insurance.

We also had to pay a deposit of $ 300, when we handed in the car at the end of our vacation, we agreed that the car was in the same condition as we got it, but we didn't get our deposit back. They told us we would get it back within 10 days, today we are 15 days later and I still haven't received it!

They are real gangsters, don't rent a car there!!!

Appalling rip off company and useless staff.

Terrible company. Do not use. I booked a car in June 2020 for 28 days and as it was just as they were allowed to open after the pandemic they told me my contract and damage report would be sent by email. Nothing arrived. However I photographed and videoed all of the damage on the car prior to getting into it. There were scratches all over the bonnet and down the sides, the front right hub cap was missing and there was damage under the front right bumper. When I took the car back the girl couldn't find a damage report ( turned out none had ever been completed) so went by the damage she could visually see and then crossed off what was on my photos. However, the damage under the front bumper was not clear as this was a grey car on a sunny day on grey tarmac. ( Took another photo on return and still couldn't see it). She noted can't see on photo and charged me 260€. I assumed when I explained to customer service that they would be sensible but no. I had to go back to Malaga airport and ask for the complaints book to even get them to answer me and then I had a succession of different people saying ' its new damage'. (Sometimes waiting upto 4 months for an answer.) Since they had no record of the damage on the car this is a ridiculous statement. I had insurance that I could have claimed on but as I knew I had not caused this damage and I'm honest, I continued to try to get their so called customer disservice department to see sense. Now more than a year later I've been ripped off for 260€. Do not employ anybody who has worked for this so called company they are thieves. Their parents must be so proud of them.

Dont use these guys

Dont use these guys. The shuttle bus never turned up at Ibiza airport to collect me. No one answers the phone and the number they gave me in Ibiza didnt work. I had to get another emergency car at the airport at double the price and am awaiting a refund. Total Con Artists

Avoid!!

We rented a car in June 2019 in Ibiza and we paid a deposit of 750 euros. Although the car was returned in an excellent condition and we were informed that the deposit would be returned, we did not receive it for the following ten months. It was really hard to contact the company and we had sent numerous emails to the company's emails and also the partners'. After 10 months and having the bank involved, we received the deposit. It was very stressful and frustrating. We wish we had read the reviews first.

What a scam!

What a scam!
Needed to cancel my booking because they could not accept my credit card for the HUGE deposit of almost 1300 € because I did not want to use their insurance.
I was told by the staff that I need to cancel the booking myself, which I tried.
Tried to call the hotline (I successfully called just 10 minutes prior) and sent 3 emails.
Never got an answer. Also emailed them at least 5 more emails asking for a refund.
Still no answer.
Was told by my bank that I need to use their contact form in order to get in contact with them for a refund.
I wrote a mail via the contact form and - as the web developer I am - investigated what the form was actually doing.
Fun fact: the contact form on the website is NOT sending any emails!
If you click on "Send" it just hides the form (plus an error message and even preserving all the details) and shows a success message that the email was successfully sent.
But the only network request that was sent out was a Facebook tracking pixel. It is just ridiculous. This whole company is just a huge scam leeching money off tourists.
Never again!

Thanks for your reply... I know that your terms and conditions state that. But you have any information for that visible during the booking process. This site here (trustpilot.com) is the first time I see the email address customerservice-at-amigoautos.es
Please show me where I can see this email anywhere on your website and during the booking process.
Also, where did I see this information about the debit card? This was nowhere visible during the booking process.
This is just a lot of BS and you are working with all scam patterns that are in the books to suck money out of people.
Don't even try to justify it.
I ended up renting with Europcar and I had no problem whatsoever with the same credit card...
It's just lies and weak-a** justifications.
Also why did no-one ever replied to any of my emails I wrote over the course of weeks to three different email addresses (info, booking, and rgpd -at - amigoautos.com)?
Your reply makes me even more mad as you are trying to tell me that I am stupid and it was all my fault.

In line with our terms and conditions, the deposit can only be taken via credit card. If you only have a debit card you must choose to contract our Super Cover since it is only possible to block the deposit on a credit card.

Note that cancellations must be made in writing to customerservice@amigoautos.es. No amount of the booking shall be reimbursed except for causes of force majeure (natural catastrophe, wars, terrorist attacks, death or sudden serious illness of the renter, his/her parents, siblings or children) that is reliably proven, to the aforementioned address.

i booked a car with amigos paid up front for car and full insurance had a death in the family phoned them to change travel date they said that was ok to use the same booking ref when re booking to day i was re booking they told me they wanted a death cert or there was nothing they could do i think they do any thing to get out of it bad company should not be in business be careful folks eamon

Still no refund

A few weeks ago I made a review. They did replay on truspilot, asking me to contact them. i did, but they did not solve the problem. They only repeat there standard answer.

I booked a car for next summer 2020 In Valencia. Booked with a promotional code and with full cover. The discount of €75 was confirmed as valid during the booking. Amigo autos credit my creditcard for €498 (without the discount) instead of €423 (after discount). I directly called twice on Sunday. I had to call back Monday so they could fix it. so it did. Monday I called 4 times. Waited for half an hour every time. The employee said she would look at it. But she emailed me that she couldn’t fix it. I made another call. During that call I emailed a printscreen of the discount. I always make printscreens during the booking, because of this kind of situations. She confirmed that the promotional code was valid. But still was not willing to give me the discount. Because the discount was not registered in my booking. yeah right! That’s the reason why I was calling!!!! They offered me a free road assistance. But I just want my €75 discount. With proven printscreen of the booking and a valid code (they confirmed it). Why would I call 6 times for €75? Because I don’t want to be stolen. just treat me right.
The day after I asked for a supervisor. But was not possible. End of story, robbed €75. Still have to go to Amigo autos next summer 2020. Wat a joy! if they just fix the €75 discount they will receive a happy customer next year. But no....until now no solution

Awful experience

Awful experience. Arrived at there car hire depot at 9.30pm ( closes at 11pm ) . 1 person serving customers very slowly. You had to take a number and wait. After over an hour and 3 customers seen ( 14 in front of us ) we decided to take amigo autos up on there offer of paying 18 euros to skip the queue. We completed the paperwork ( we had paid upfront and taken premium insurance so we didn't have to leave the 1,500 euro deposit) . After completing the paperwork we were informed we still had to pay 150 euro deposit via credit card. This had been nowhere in our booking confirmation or paperwork emailed to us. We had already changed our money and come with cash. This left us standing outside there office in an industrial estate at 11pm. We had to get a taxi to our apartment (70 euros). We had planned to explore the local area and had it all mapped out. Instead we are now stuck in our apartment having paid for a car we don't have , blown another 70 euros on a taxi and still have to budget for getting back to the airport. Thank you amigo autos for ruining our holiday

I still waiting for refund of my…

I still waiting for refund of my deposit when I get a car in Barcelona on 1/10/2019 as follows
1- £132.97
2- £78.39
They still showing on my internet banking as pending
And I've paid for instance when I booked the car and get this trip to Barcelona which was ignored by the man who robbed me twice with£78.39 and make me paid £132.97 for their insurance which they said that will be paid back after I bring the car in the next few days.

Robbed by them!!!!

I rented a car and was charged for a full tank of fuel, since I returned I have received a refund of £45 not the full amount even though the tank was full and signed in by a guy who said no damage full tank, I have contacted the AmigoAutos who has not responded, I then emailed DoYouSpain whom I hired the car through and received a reply that they had my message and I would look into it, I have written to DoYouSpain in August, twice, September and Today but I’m still waiting for the problem to be resolved - one thing for sure I wont be using AmigoAutos again any time soon - AVOID THEM OR IT WILL COST YOU!!!!

I rent 3/08/2019 and I payed 97.5€ for fuel when i picked up the car and i left car on 16/09 with full gasoil as per request (and contract) and i expected refound of 68.5€ (because 29€ was for service)...i didn't see money...i wrote lot of time to customer service and nobody answered...i filled form from the website...nobody answered. Finally...they stole my money!!!!!!
