The selling process at Ashford Orbital was brilliant, it's just the Kia Sportage was under spec which surprised us.

The selling process at Ashford Orbital Kia we could not be happier about, the whole sale process and hand over was brilliant.
I will say that though that we were quite disappointed that the GT Line, being mid range, had so many things missing that we had on our "mid range" Hyundai Tucsan Premium. No height adjustable seat on the passenger side, no proximity sensors, no "follow me home" front lights, and no ambient interior lighting, no premium sound system, and that's what we have found so far.

My 2 and a half year old Kia Sportage…

My 2 and a half year old Kia Sportage broke down on the 24th November. I picked it up from Ashford Orbital yesterday. They had it for neatly two weeks. During that time I had to phone them in order to discover what progress has been made. I have no complaints with the technicians at AO but I wonder if the whole operation would benefit from better management?
Criticisms:
1 Phoning the service department is a.hit and miss affair. Someone should always answer the phone promptly.
2) The service department kindly fitted in a 30 000 mile service while the had the car but it was returned to me unvaleted and rather dirty and untidy. This is basic customer service!

Shockingly Poor Aftercare and Customer Service

Very disappointing service from Kia Main Dealer… Having purchased our Kia Proceed on Motability through a dealer in Sussex we moved to the Kent area and therefore needed to use a local dealer.
Having taken the car for 2 services now we can only say what terrible experiences we have had.
Firstly it takes a months notice to book the car in and then trying to get a courtesy car is pretty much impossible so we have to use the waiting service. Both times we have arrived at the stated 8:00am and told to wait in the customer waiting area. On both occasions the tea/coffee machines were not working for customers and only for staff!!!
At 11:00 am after serious chasing and being told the car is being worked on we see the car parked in the yard and not a single member of the team has bothered to inform us that the car was ready!!!
They don’t even bother giving the car a service wash!!
The aftercare service from this garage and intact this brand means I will never buy another Kia!!
Absolutely shocking!! I would avoid this dealer at all costs

Issues always dealt with, and staff have always taken time to explain everything respectfully, and are always polite.

This is the second time I've needed to return my Picanto due to the windscreen wiper jets not working. The rear jet was repaired when they inspected, but they had to order replacement parts under warranty for my front wiper jets. They've also inspected my DAB radio settings, as when I tune in to FM or AM frequencies, I'm not able to listen to DAB when I switch back, although this isn't as worrying as my jet sprays not working. Staff have always been polite, and my car has been back to me within 90-120 minutes wait. I'd score this Kia dealership a 9/10.

Dreadful

Refused to do work on the car under warranty because I am not a ‘loyal’ customer. Complaint not taken seriously. Avoid if you expect to be spoken to politely.

Lack of trust/resolution

Didn't want to have write this but I feel people need to know as a heads up in case anyone buys from them. Bought my van from this outfit and dealt with Jake through the purchase of my van who was helpful. I didn't go to see the van and so wasn't expecting a perfect van. I certainly wasn't expecting a large dent on the high tail brake light....The damage left the light not seated with a gap in the seal meaning water ingress possible. After reporting to Jake he offered £50 to get it sorted (no questions on it and so I would say that this damage was likely known about on delivery but can't guarantee this). Now this wouldn't have been a problem if I was made aware of it, but I was not and it surely could not have been missed on the inspections so I feel this was purposely masked. I arranged repair and sent receipt for £80. I had to buy a new tail light at my expense as the dent had crushed the original one. After a delayed response (a week later) I was told that the accountant hs been off. Another week one and still not refunded the bill. I have also noticed that the front bumper looks to have been re sprayed as the metallics are miles off on the bumper compared to the body so this now leads to more questions and if it has been respeayed, I was not informed of it which I beleive such pre sale works should be for clarity to the customer.

This issue is outstanding as I have not received the refund yet. All helpful until they have you cash so it seems unfortunately, disappointing and takes away from the pleasure of buying the van.

Offered to buy, but not able to test drive...

Enquired about a vehicle, nine months old £60,000+, was told I could buy it but not view or test drive it as it was 'being used as an active demo currently so we would not be able to bring it in for test drive before purchase'.
Questioned why if this was being used as a demonstrator why this could not be demonstrated on us, as the potential buyers, to which we received no reply.

Really poor service trying to obtain my…

Really poor service trying to obtain my car from Kia, wasnt told upfront about the wait time for it, and when I pointedly asked I was told they would get to that later. When we did get to it they made a joke out of it saying “next year” and wouldn’t give a genuine answer. Was only given vague guesses, which kept changing, and I didn’t receive updates or callbacks when promised by the manager despite chasing for many months. I had to go direct to Kia to get them to chase the dealer up to get any kind of response. In the end we waited about 6 months, and had we known it would take so long we would have gone with a Nissan which we could have had within days.

I needed it delivered and I got the impression it was a huge inconvenience to deliver the car to my home, complaining they didn’t have the staffing for it and arguing that I would still need to come in for the paperwork anyway, which was fine. But they made a fuss about having to do so and left me feeling like I was an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. When choosing a car the least you expect is for it to at least be delivered as required without argument. The whole experience made me feel like I was not a valued customer and they couldn’t care less about my satisfaction.

When I turned up for appointments I was regularly ignored and left standing there waiting for 45 minutes ultimately having to phone the office behind the wall to get someone to come out, despite having booked in advance they didn’t seemed to expect me. When the car arrived I was made to pay before seeing it and the salesman didn’t even show me it or give me the key to check it over, instead he gestured outside vaguely and said it’s around there somewhere and left me to go locate myself just look at the outside and did not assist beyond just giving me the license plate info. What kind of car sales company is this?!

They also sold my personal data onto their JCB group and used it without my consent to try and sell me second hand cars, bothering me with emails on christmas day. I have never shown the remotest bit of interest in used cars and they are aware I already have one. I expected my data to be used only to process my order, not abused and sold on to target me for unsolicited marketing.

Kia and JCB did not respond to the formal complaints I filed and their group ignored my subject access request. I made a formal complaint to kia about the dealer. JCB refused to comply with the relavent laws and instead told me to take the matter to the regulators instead, which I have done.

Really poor show all around especially when compared to competitor Nissan in the same location who couldn’t do enough for me. Next time I will go with a different brand. I can now see why Kia Ashford has such an apalling reputation and JCB should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

Great service when I brought my car but…

Great service when I brought my car but aftercare absolutely terrible.
Told if I had my first service here I would get another years warranty hasn't happened. Whilst it was in for a service and mot they found an oil leak which was there fault as they didn't do it when they sorted the clutch out. Now on my 3rd visit to get it done after I've had to chase it everything. Everyone you speak to its someone else's fault. Never bringing my car back here and I won't buy another car from here either.

Awful

I bought a CX-30 from an online dealer and had a 3 week return window. There were several issues with the car and I asked to return it, however they asked if I would be happy if the issues were dealt with by a main dealer and paid for by them, I agreed to this. The dealer made me an appointment to bring my car into Mazda Ashford Orbital. 1/ I arrived on the given day only to find that the Main Dealer had never heard of me (when I phoned the original dealer they had a recording of them arranging the appointment). 2/ Ashford Mazda agreed to sort the issues out and also sort out a recall that had not been done by the previous owner. The car was duly returned and while I can only assume that the recall work was done, the other issues were not (FYI the issues are a known fault with the wing mirrors not deploying and the stop/start not working). 3/ took the car back into Ashford Mazda a few days later and they promised to have another look but now needed to get a wiring loom in which would take about a week. Over 2 weeks later I phoned Ashford Mazda to ask what was happening only to be told I'll ring you back. 4/ Two days later I rang again only to be told the guy you need to speak to will ring you back. That was now nearly 4 hours ago! This is the most appalling customer service I've had in a very long time. Clearly Mazda cars are not fit for purpose and their dealers are worse! I am now well outside the 3 week return window, with a car I have come to hate and a main dealer whose competence is in serious question.

Whatever you do don't get a motability…

Whatever you do don't get a motability car through these clowns! Any problems arise they're less than useless! If your car needs to go in they don't even provide a courtesy car unless you put money down! Don't fix the issues they're supposed to fix despite having the car longer than necessary! Avoid like the plague

Tyre replacement- fabulous service

I recently purchased 4 new tyres for my MX5 Skyactiv and was looked after by Justin. He was thoroughly professional, came out to my home to collect the car and dropped it back once the tyres has been replaced.
All-round 5 star treatment by Ashford Orbital Mazda.
I was also very pleasantly surprised and impressed that the workshop gave the interior as well as the exterior a valeting the day before when they were giving the tyres a ‘health-check’ whilst I waited.
Excellent service 👍🏻👍🏻

Awful experience would not recommend

Awful experience would not recommend. Thought I had sold my car to Ashford Orbital Kia through Motorways.co.uk. Uploaded every scratch and mark all truthfully and was offered a great deal for my vehicle. I personally delivered my vehicle to this dealership only for them to refuse my car due to it not being sell able in this male salesperson’s opinion. He was rude, unhelpful, obnoxious. Didn’t thank me for driving 1.5 hours to deliver the vehicle. Wasted my time and my fuel. I would not recommend ever buying a vehicle from this dealership. Stay well clear.

Excellent and friendly Dealer

Last year whilst on holiday in France, our KIA Sorento developed serious gearbox issues and we went to Ashford KIA for help. Although we had an extended parts availability problem which was no fault of this dealer, it proved a wise and excellent choice. The staff were friendly and most helpful from the start and, as we were 300 miles from home, were sympathetic to our situation. Nothing was too much trouble, from the reception to the Management, we were treated exceptionally. We would without reservation recommend KIA Orbital at Ashford, Kent, without reservation - A job well done!!
