All good - except I purchased a new vehicle - donated the old one , and cancelled the Policy on the old vehicle. (within one month - and I have paid the annual fee ). Then within 30 days, cancelled the policy on old vehicle, and got offered back a refund of $562 !!
Phone call reviews - after waiting over 1 hour on the phone - did not result in any resolution. Be careful.

Blocking VPN Users
Screw this company! I wanted to sign up with them cause I heard their cheap but I cant even access on their website because they block people using VPN's!
IP based blocking policies are ineffective & don't prevent anything, this became unpopular in like 2010, what idiot did they hire for security who thought that taking such an anti-consumer & anti-privacy stance was smart in 2024.
If you want to know just how easy it is for anyone to bypass this garbage network security policy all you need to do is get the FoxyProxy browser add-on on Firefox or Chome, then just add a cheap proxy, SOCKS5 is ideal. Now you're even more private as you're protected by a VPN & a proxy further obfuscating your tracks.
Their "security" acomplished nothing expect pissing off & denying access to everyone who uses a VPN while also being an unnessessary hit to their companies reputation by shouting "we're anti-consumer". Not even banks block VPN's anymore cause of how widely their used & how ineffective blocking them is, an insurance company certainly shouldn't be doing something this dumb.

My experience with belairdirect 's adjuster, Martalle McCatty was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. From the start, she displayed a complete lack of empathy and competence in handling my claim. Her communication was sparse and unclear, often leaving me in the dark about the status of my claim. When she did communicate, it was evident she hadn't thoroughly reviewed my case, as she repeatedly asked for information I had already provided.
Moreover, her dismissive attitude towards my concerns was appalling. She seemed more interested in rushing through the process than ensuring I received fair treatment. Her unresponsiveness further exacerbated an already stressful situation, leaving me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a customer.
In conclusion, adjuster demonstrated a lack of professionalism and care in handling my claim. I would strongly caution others against relying on her for any insurance matters, as her approach is detrimental to customer trust and satisfaction.
I cancelled my coverage with them.

I never have a single call with Belair Direct that ends with me being happy.
They increased my insurance this year by 40$ a month. With no accidents, no claims, no tickets on my record in the past 6 years and no incidents on my wife's as a secondary driver in the past 3 years. Their excuse is "rates go up." Rates aren't supposed to increase 40% with good history. They are supposed to decline with good history.
When we had a claim 3 years ago where my wife was involved in an accident where she rear-ended another driver who cut her off then fled the scene, she was deemed at fault and our vehicle, that we spent $8,000 on 3 months prior, had a $3000 repair bill, they wrote it off and gave us $4500. Deeming the vehicle that still had a black book value of 7k, only worth 4500. Con artists.
There app to track your driving sucks. You as a passenger sometimes get the choice to say you were a passenger, but it would often track driving I didn't do, and not even let me report passenger. And as a driver, your phone falling off the mount, or being used by the passenger, would screw up your tracking too.
If your automatic payment bounces because you don't have the money at that exact moment. The bank charged you a 30$ NSF fee, and Belair Charges you a 45$ NSF fee for no reason whatsoever. They admit the charges are automatic, so there is literally 0 time and effort they put into charging you, so their argument of having to pay for peoples time to charge it again is redundant. Its just a scam charge. I knew I wasn't going to have enough money for this months payment. My payment date is the 14th of every month. So I called today so I could pay with credit card. They said they already sent the payment to the bank, even though I am not supposed to pay until the 14th, and they can't do anything about it. But since I knew it was going to bounce, I could pay it now, and pay the 45$ fee on top of it. Even though I am offering to pay early. Biggest scam artists out there.

The company has my address, email, and phone number, and yet I did not receive any communication of an issue with the payment at any point. I only found out when I was required to renew my license plate the following year - and Belair expected me to pay an extra $2000 each year because of their screw-up. Brand New Belair Direct Customer
Brand New Belair Direct Customer. Needed to speak with a person since there are errors in the transfer of our policy (3 vehicles and our home) from Johnson Insurance. Website did not address our issues. On hold yesterday 1hour and 45 minutes and then was cut off despite keying in numbers as requested. Now on hold for a second time. There is NO SERVICE available from this company at this point. Why would I assume a claim would be handled any better.

Belair took over Johnson, and in reviewing the new insurance documents the list of things they do not cover exceeds, by far, the things they do cover. There was much better coverage under Johnson and communication was far better as well. Unfortunately I just renewed and if Belair is true to form I doubt there would be any refunds, but I am off today to see about using someone else. I wish I had done some research on what kind of company Belair actually is.

Since Belair took over Johnson, my experience has been nothing but negative. Would not recommend this company to anyone. I've already taken my car insurance elsewhere, my house will be next. If they decline insurance, they recommend Broker Link.. they were rude, and not helpful at all. I reached out to someone at Crosbie, SO much better! I was told today that they do not recognize Merix as a mortgage lender. Meanwhile, my mortgage broker is also with Merix, and he has home insurance with Belair... Not sure what criteria they go by when making these decisions. I feel like i was being tossed away...

Was on a call with a lady from the claims department whose name starts with J and all I could give her was a car policy didn't have my house policy and Belairdirect doesn't differentiate in their numbering system (how friggin psychotic is that) so anyway I was on the phone with her for "half an hour" and she just kept on saying sorry I can't find your home policy ... can't find your home policy ... and then I said well do I just phone back the main number she says ya you can do that (#%*%#) me swearing under my breath !!! after a "half an hour" of bantering back-and-forth she didn't have the courtesy to just tell me to call the main number and get my home policy number !!! ... she would've left me hanging had I not suggested it !!

I am a newly insured driver, so I called around to find the cheapest insurance and most are quite expensive when you’re a new driver. I chose belair direct because they were the cheapest option. After committing and going ahead with their “quote” I brought my. Why or home. Almost a week later they called me and told me my premium changed because they had the date of my license wrong even though I spoke with 3 different people and gave the correct date. Since the date was wrong they had a totally different month and year they charged me 500 more a year after I chose to go with them and turned down other companies because belair was supposedly cheaper. I thought quotes meant something but apparently not - BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!! Super shady business practices if you ask me!

If I could I would give 0 stars. This insurance company did something irresponsible. They had placed me as the driver for an accident I never committed. They stated since I was the policy holder I am responsible for this accident even if I was not driving. It was my husband who was driving and now I have been paying for this accident on my insurance when it is not fair to me. A few years later I accidentally hit a car in a parking lots with minor damages and going under 5km an hour. I just took off paint and light popped out. The person who reported this accident stated I did more damages then I did. This insurance company cancelled me because they stated I was in too many accidents in the matter of 3 years but one of them is NOT one I committed. I spoke to other insurance companies they said they placed the person driving at fault not policy holder. So I will also mentioned that now that this insurance company has cancelled a policy on me. I am considered a high risk driver and it is difficult to get insurance anywhere without paying high costs. This company is irresponsible for placing me at fault for an accident I never committed.

My husband convinced me to go with Belleairedirect after being with my insurance company for 31 years. Huge mistake on my part. We moved from Ontario to New Brunswick. I finally brought my car here in April as I was not going to drive my Lexus from Ontario to New Brunswick in the winter, I kept it insured in Ontario and brought it to New Brunswick in April when the weather was better. They insured my car here no problem and then we got a registered letter saying our insurance was cancelled. The reason being a missed payment in Ontario which we immediately paid with our credit card. All was good! Then this happened and they said here they won't give you insurance if you miss a payment even though we explained that it was the banks fault and has proof that the payment should never had been returned NSF. I was on the phone with them for 4 days straight to figure all this out. I even offered to pay for a whole year in good faith that I had never missed a payment in the 31 years I was with my other insurance company. That was not an option. They were very rude and condescending. They also took 2 payment out within the whole 12 days my car was insured here. NEVER EVER would I recommend them to anyone. Very long review but I had to tell the whole story. Absolutely ridiculous!!!
