I sold a book on the Bookbyte website on August 21, 2018 for $86.00. I printed the shipping label and sent the book to them the next day. After not hearing anything from the company for almost 3 weeks, I logged in to check my order status and saw is was rejected. I emailed to determine the cause of the rejection and was told that it had a damaged cover, and if they will not send me the money I want my book back. I explained that my book did not have a cover, and it was a looseleaf copy, so there was not a cover to damage. They told me that the book now belonged to them anyway, and they are "recycling" it, and sent me a copy of that policy. After numerous exchanges, I got no where. I asked to speak to a manager (request ignored) or for someone to call me (they do not call anyone). The representative sent me a screenshot from Amazon and the publisher showing that it does not come as looseleaf, but my school bookstore is the one who sold me the book. I even provided a screenshot of their own policy that they do purchase looseleaf copies. I was again accused of having a "reprint" and not original. They also said that the ISBN I provided was from a hardcover book, however I pulled the ISBN directly from the book itself. I also saw on the BBB website that I am not the first person to experience the exact same issue with the exact same book. It is unfortunate that since they already "recycled" the book I have no evidence of what I am saying.
EDIT
After BookByte reached out the second time, we came to a mutual agreement for a resolution. Otherwise, the selling process was extremely easy and much preferred to the 1+ hour drive to school to sell (and possibly turned down). It took a while- but I appreciate how flexible BookByte has been. I increased my rating to 4 stars.
Thanks!

The process can be a bit timely, but Bookbyte makes it easy and simple to sell a book.
I had a similar experience to others I see on here. I sent my books almost a month ago in perfect condition and just saw they were rejected for being damaged. I contacted them to see if they'll give me my books back. So bummed! I would be cautious with selling your books to them.
UPDATE: So, first my books were deemed "damaged" now they're "illegal." This place is a scam. I got my books from my university's bookstore and I have never heard someone call a book illegal in my life. I have heard of the government banning books, but this is just laughable. They stole my books and I won't sell to them again.

I had to make an account on here just to write this review. Use a different site please! I sent a book that I just bought brand new two months or so ago to get money for it and I NEVER received payment for it from bookbyte. When I logged onto my account it says the status of the book was DAMAGED! Ridiculous.. now I see from all these reviews that it’s not the first time they’ve done this. I want the money I was quoted for, for my book that you’re keeping!!

The prices are great and shipping is made easy I have bought, rented and sold my books at this site and am extremely pleased. Any questions that you may have are always responded to quickly and courteously.
Bookbyte is a great company to work with. They communication throughout the whole process and give you the best deal from your textbook.
Excellent experience. Sold some of my son's used textbooks back which I originally purchased used from other sources. Got back essentially what I originally paid for them and the full quoted price ($195). From shipping to payment in my paypal account took 1 week. Very impressed.
Best experience ever with textbook buyback.
I had read some negative reviews but Bookbyte offered the best price, by far, so I took a chance. I sent back the book, they paid for shipping and quickly paid out the amount they quoted. It was an excellent experience. The book was in good shape. I found the company trustworthy and would do business with them again.
Still haven’t received my check fOr the textbooks I sold back. Said 3-5 business days. It’s been 2 weeks.

sold my books in a pinch to help come up with some money for current semesters books. Received check for quoted price pretty quick.
Was a little hesitant because some reviews, but i had absolutely no problems.
They weren't the highest paying for some books, and I had to use 2 sites to sell some books. So my only "con" to this review would be to research other sites for best Quoted Price.
My books arrived Thursday and they accepted 3 out of the 4 of my books and I don't understand why they are taking so long. Also, there are notifications as to what the process is like. This isn't horrible but I don't know how I feel about recommending such a slow system that only does 75 percent then just slows down
Quick, simple, friendly service. Kept me posted on their progress and alerted me on when my payment was sent. Payment also went smoothly.
Very easy and convenient. Check came right away.
No problems. They accepted my book even though it wasn't in the best condition.
I was informed every step of the way. Transactions were fast and as expected. I will definitely use in the future.
I sent in 3 perfectly acceptable books. I received a check for 1. The customer service rep said the other 2 were still in process. That was over 2 weeks ago. Every time I send an email I get the same answer that they are still in process. I've said that I either want a check or return the 2 books back to me. No response. I will never use Bookbyte again and I am going through Amazon's customer service to register a complaint.

Take your business elsewhere . I sent 3 books and received payment for 2. After an email inquiry I was told that the book quoted for $90 was damaged. I personally inspected the book and packaged it. I am sorry that I didn’t photograph the book from every angle.
What a glorious scam. My son starts school in a month, and I am so glad I didn’t also buy books from this company.
Update: Bookbyte did pay me $45.75 for the book after a few emails to the company. I still feel like a bait and switch occurred. I am a 43 year old woman who would never send back a damaged book. Not my first time at the rodeo but I feel like a fool, I went with this company because they had the highest online offer for this particular book. Oh well, live and learn.

Could not have asked for a smoother transaction. Thank you.
The processes was a little slow but i received my money and thanks for the customer service because they help me a lot ☺i will sell books to y'all again thanks 😉
I sent in a book to Bookbyte that was in perfect condition. After about 3 weeks of not hearing anything about it and not receiving my check, I logged into the website to find the phone number. On the website, I found a page that told me my book had been rejected. The book I had sent in was in perfect condition. I had also sent books in the exact same condition into other websites such as Buyback101 and Mybookcart. The checks I received from the other websites were for the exact amount I was quoted. I see on Bookbyte’s website that they do not send back books that they reject and I feel as if I have been scammed. I am going to contact costumer service tomorrow as now it is after hours. This company is absolutely despicable, please save yourself the trouble and do not use Bookbyte. They scammed me out of money and I am very, very unhappy.
