Use Bookbyte, Lose your books.

Do not use Bookbyte! They use the cheapest, slowest possible shipping with no insurance. My package was lost by usps because of this and im now out 180$ and my books. And because it was media mail there is absolutely 0 recovery. thanks bookbyte!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I do understand your frustration not receiving a payment for the package lost by USPS. We do encourage customers to take the proper precautions with their shipping company and to purchase optional insurance through USPS, as we cannot pay for books that are lost or damaged before they reach us.

If you have not already, I would recommend that you contact USPS directly to file a trace or claim on the lost package. If you need a copy of the original prepaid shipping label or tracking number of the package for your trace or claim, please contact our Customer Service team directly and we would be happy to provide that information. Please also feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns.

Thank you,

beforehand, the website said i would recieve $90 for my textbooks which were in good condition. but, instead they only sent me a $50 check. I am still offended and mad that they would rip me off like this.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I certainly understand your frustration not receiving the kind of payment you were expecting.

When you placed the buyback order, you were given a quote based on the ISBN that was entered. This is not a guarantee you will receive this amount as all books are inspected upon arrival. Our records indicate the ISBN entered was for the Student Edition of "Chemistry: Principles and Reactions"; which is what the quote reflected. Unfortunately, the item we received was an Instructor Edition. We no longer purchase Instructor Editions, therefore the book was rejected. Your Bookbyte account was updated to show this status on 7.2.2018. The other two items on your order were correct and paid at the full quoted amount. Please reach out to our Customer Service department directly if you have any further questions.

Thank you,

Good...Good.

Have used this company to sell textbooks...They were very good in keeping me in the loop when my books arrived and when processing and payments was completed...I was not able to find a phone number for them so that was a bit of a concern, however I have used them on several occasions and they have paid what was quoted and always notified me when payment had been processed and sent...would recommend.

Very, very much recommend

I like Bookbyte because it gave me a really good price on a textbook that I had previously found difficult to sell, they paid for shipping, and their customer support is actually really nice and quick to get back to you. It takes a while to get your book to their warehouse and processed, but they are always willing to help you when you have a question. I will definitely use them again.

Scammers

Scammers! Don't sell to them. They paid me the quote books for one of the books that I mailed them but claimed that there was cover damage to the other book.. however the book didn't have a cover because it's loose leaf. Then once I brought that up they said that the cover wasn't damaged it was because I didn't include the cover page... it amazes me how quickly they can change their story. There was no damage to the book whatsoever, every single page was included with the book.

After going back and forth through email they finally offered half of the quote price, $45 instead of the $90.

Wonderful Customer Service Experience

I had a wonderful experience with a customer representative for Bookbyte! I had a textbook I wanted to sell that unfortunately didn't come with the CD. According to the Bookbyte website, they could only take it with the CD. The representative, Jazmyn, helped me figure out a different barcode I needed to use to be able to sell my copy, helping me all the way to the end. She even processed my order as it wasn't working right on my computer. She was very helpful and I am grateful for that.

Easy to use site

Easy to use site. Good prices for books. Fast at sending out payment. Quickest of the other four that I sold my books back to.

I would recommend this company to…

I would recommend this company to everyone. I like that I sent the books off and the next two weeks I was paid in one check, not three or four checks. Plus I have sold to ValoreBooks and they take their time sending their money to you, I will never sell my books to them again. Bookbyte is the only one I will use from now on.

Thanks so much

SCAM

SCAM

I have had the same experience as others. I sent in a book that had barely been opened with perfect condition (I even got complemented on its great condition at a bookstore that was offering less money for it), but after not receiving payment or any notification from them on payment I decided to email them. They responded that the binding was in bad condition and could not be sold. I have sold my books to many other companies and have never had an issue, even when selling books in far worse condition. They said they couldn't even send me a picture of what they were talking about since they sent it to some other facility to be checked a second time for damage. Trust me there are far less shady businesses that conduct their operations with merit and won't scam you!

Misleading Info and Bad Customer Service

I tried to sell back two of my textbooks (both of which were in near perfect condition) and they were rejected due to "damage." I contacted customer service and was told that both of them were rejected because they were "instructor editions." As if this wasn't misleading enough, neither book was an instructor edition and they refuse to send my books back. I eventually requested pictures of proof and they ended up admitting that one book was a student edition and paid me accordingly, but did not ever fix the last book (which was ironically worth the most amount of money.) They also have an option to get paid through PayPal, but there are error messages which force you to get paid through a check instead.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I certainly understand your frustration not receiving the kind of payment you were expecting.

We have not received any reports on issues selecting PayPal as a payment option and it is currently working, however we also appreciate you bringing the matter to our attention. You may also contact us directly after your order is placed and we would be happy to update that payment method to PayPal.

When you placed the buyback order, you were given a quote based on the ISBN that was entered. This is not a guarantee you will receive this amount as all books are inspected upon arrival. Our records indicate the ISBN entered was for the Student Edition of "Chemistry: A Molecular Approach (4th Edition)"; which is what the quote reflected. Unfortunately, the item we received was an Instructor Edition. We no longer purchase Instructor Editions, therefore the book was rejected. Your Bookbyte account was updated to show this status on 5.10.2018. We also provided the requested pictures which included the top cover of the book that read "INSTRUCTOR REVIEW COPY".

The two other textbooks that you sold were paid at their full qouted amounts. If you did not receive a copy of the requested photos we sent back in May, please reach out to us directly at help@bookbyte.com so that we can provide an additional copy. Please also email our Customer Service department directly if you have any further questions.

SCAM

I set up a shipment with bookbyte (ODER # 7716946) in which I printed my label and the very next day (03/16/18) I mailed 4 textbooks. A couple weeks goes by and I decided I should check up on my books since I hadn’t heard anything yet. I signed into their website and it said on April 2, 2018 they had made a Return to Sender label to send something back to me. I could not find a phone number for this business, (which in my opinion is sketchy and had I done my research would have thought twice about sending my books there) so I could not call them and instead emailed the customer service department. They responded that same day saying that the package was being sent back to me but he couldn’t say why, just that it could have been the label (which was premade on their website) or the package could have been damaged and that I should file a claim with USPS to find out what happened. I said, ok well I’ll wait until my package comes back to me.
Today (04/16/18)I got an envelope in the mail with my preprinted label from bookbyte. The exact label I had sent which I had taped to the box. The return to sender sticker has the zip code of 41018 dated 04/02/2018, so Bookbye obviously received this label at least. But wait, hadn’t I taped the label to the box? The label I noticed, has been meticulously cut off of the box and put in an envelope. So is bookbyte trying to tell me that someone stole my package of 4 old textbooks and they ONLY received my label in the mail? The label itself isn’t damaged and I would assume that a flimsy piece of paper would have at least some wear and tear, some dog eared corners or maybe some dirt. Nope. Like I said someone meticulously cut the label off of the box and sent me back the label with nothing saying something along the lines of “hey we were expecting 4 books and all we received was a paper label- send us the books!” Even the customer service person couldn’t tell me “hey this is strange. Looking at your account I can see we only received a label?” The customer service person couldn’t tell me why my shipment was refused. I emailed customer service again with a picture of my returned shipping label and let them know I filed a claim with USPS and I sent them screenshots of the entire tracking of my package since I mailed it. I then a general auto email stating that my shipping label had expired because my books did not get to their facility on time. This email was not from customer service. It was an auto email sent by a bot. My shipping label was received on 4/2 so that’s a bit odd, no? Anyway, I have yet to hear back from customer service and I emailed them 7 hours ago. I FIRMLY believe these people are a scam and that they stole my books. I would absolutely not recommend them in any capacity and will actually be looking into this further.

Hello and thank you for your review.

Our Customer Service team is available via email, social media, and our website's help desk. Unfortunately, we no longer provide telephone support. The Customer Service team works around the clock, responding to emails in the order received. Our goal is to respond within 24 hours, however during peak seasons there may be slight delays.

After reviewing the tracking information, it shows that the Post Office (USPS) initiated a "Return to Sender" shipment because they were unable to deliver the package as addressed. The post office will initiate a "Return to Sender" if the label is damaged in transit or if the package itself is compromised. We have access to what the post office updates the tracking information to, just as you do and sometimes the reason for the package being returned is not always prevalent through the tracking link itself. It is generally easiest to find out by contacting the post office directly. You can view the tracking details here:

https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction?tLabels=9449015969006681156179

Unfortunately, we are not able to pay for books we do not receive. We do encourage customers to take the proper precautions with their shipping company and to purchase optional insurance through USPS, as we cannot pay for books that are lost or damaged before they reach us.

I do see that you have already filed a claim with the post office as you stated to one of our Representatives. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact our customer service team directly via email.
