They sent me the wrong book

They sent me the wrong book and couldn't replace it with the correct book and couldn't even refund me the difference for sending me an earlier edition. So after my master's level class has started I have to return this book for a refund (up to 7 days after they receive the book) while having to wait for a different company to send me the correct book. The agent was friendly and fast to respond but that has been the only positive in this experience.

Everything went wrong...

Received a wrong book labeled as the book I wanted? Terrible customer service that can’t seem to answer simple questions. This is only the second time I’ve used this website, but it’s one of the worst experiences I’ve had with buying a book.

I am very impressed with this site

I am very impressed with this site. I ordered an access card for one of my classes and my package arrived in a timely manner! Other sites I have used in the past havent arrived nearly as fast as this one. Definitely will use again in the future!

Bookbyte told me that the textbook that …

Bookbyte told me that the textbook that I sent them was inauthentic. I know for a fact that it was not. However, I asked them to provide me the reason that they felt it was inauthentic, I asked them to provide a phone number, I asked them to send the book back if they would not pay me, and I asked them to check into the matter again. They clearly told me that they would not do any of those things. I researched the company afterwards and found that they tell many customers that their textbook is inauthentic or damaged to avoid paying them and then won't send the textbook back. Fraud.

1. I asked the buisness specifically what the reason was that my particular book was rejected and they would not tell me why or look into it. They said that there are general reasons it might be deemed inauthentic but not why my particular book was deemed inauthentic. If they know for sure that my book is inauthentic, there should be a reason.

2. The buisness would not give me a phone number, manager's contacts, the warehouse contact information. The buisness would only allow me to email one person who would not help me or give me any details.

3. There are many complaints online that this buisness has done the exact same thing to them... told them that their book was inauthentic and would not give them money or return the book. How is it possible that in one year the buisness has received so many inauthentic books?

4. I asked the buisness if they notified the police, since the book is inauthentic... which would be illegal. I told them that if it was truly inauthentic, to notify the police and please send me a copy of the police report/complaint and evidence that it is inauthentic and they did not email me back. They had told me that it is sitting in a warehouse somewhere.

5. The business did not contact me to tell me that the book was inauthentic and they would not be giving me the money.... after a long time went by without being paid, I contacted them, only to be told that the book was inauthentic without giving any proof. It seems as though they were hoping that I would not notice that they did not give me my money and were not honest and forthright.

Upon receiving books, our Buyback team first checks the ISBN on the book to ensure that it's the same as the ISBN on the order. Then they check the condition of the book. When checking the condition of the book, they also check for book authenticity. Because of the rising costs of textbooks, there are currently many scams/companies that print and sell illegal copies of textbooks. Some indicators that books are inauthentic are:

-Poor binding
-Different/lower page quality
-Printing quality
-Printing dimensions
-Front and back cover art distorted/mis-aligned

If we find these indicators, we then compare it to an authentic copy of the book and if it doesn't match then that is when it's flagged as an inauthentic copy. Per our Buyback policy, "Bookbyte reserves the right to inquire how items were originally acquired and request proof of ownership. While under investigation, payment may be delayed or withheld. Any items submitted to Bookbyte that are determined to be illegally obtained or printed will be surrendered to the proper authorities (i.e., law enforcement, publishers, or retailers)."

Again, I would advise that you contact the company you ordered this from and advise them of the issue as they will need to reimburse you for the book. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact our customer service team directly via email.

It came right in time!

I ordered my book on the 27th of December and it came on the 3rd of January, which was very good. In good condition and everything!

Beware!

I sent four books to Bookbyte. I only got paid for 3 of them. I messaged Bookbyte to find out why I didn't get paid for the fourth one, and was told that they only received three books. I packaged the books perfectly, and Bookbyte even told me that nothing had arrived damaged. They told me that they didn't receive the fourth book. I sent all four books in the same box. Be careful and don't send anything valuable to them. If you use their preprinted label, the post office doesn't let you buy insurance, so you won't be covered. I had no way to prove to them that I sent four books, so they got one of my textbooks for free :(

Our record indicate your order was received and processed on 01/03/2018. Unfortunately we only have record of receiving 3 of the 4 expected items. Today one of our customer service representatives requested a receipt of your shipment however you stated your package was picked up from your home which not have given you the chance to purchase additional insurance from a retail location. When your item is picked up, you are unable to add insurance as this can only be done at a physical location.

The label provided is a Media Mail label which is uninsured and we do encourage customers to take the proper precautions with their shipping company and to purchase optional insurance through USPS, as we cannot pay for books that are lost or damaged before they reach us. Our returns team takes great care in processing each shipment received. Upon inspecting your shipment, they found the package to be in tact and only containing three items. USPS offers optional insurance to be purchased by visiting one of their retail counters. Insurance purchased at a Post Office retail counter is Available for Priority Mail Express, USPS Retail Ground, Media Mail, and Library Mail items, and for Priority Mail or First-Class Mail items that contain matter that qualifies to be mailed at USPS Retail Ground or Package Services prices.

They cancelled my book order and didn't …

They cancelled my book order and didn't notify me that they decided to cancel the order. Had to email them to find out why the book hadn't arrived.

My experience was horrible

My experience was horrible. They didnt send my book on time, i still havent got it. I received a peice of carboard instead. Seriously displeased.

Bookbyte is my go to for most of my rentals

Bookbyte is my text book go to when I need rentals or cheap text books. The delivery is on time as promised and in the two years of attending college I have used them quite often. I recommend using Bookbyte.

I ordered a book for a Christmas gift on 12/16/17. I paid for 2nd day air delivery. I emailed them asking if the book had been shipped. No response. 3 days after the order they cancelled it. No reason given. I will never buy from there again.

Should not have taken almost a week to tell me the book I ordered was out of stock!

Took my order and my money and almost a week later I find out the book is out of stock.... You would think they would know the book was out of stock before almost a week!

Not happy

I ordered a textbook, paid for, got a confirmation email saying the order was processing and I’d get another email when the book shipped. I never got another email. Nothing, no contact from them. Never got the book. I finally contacted them. I wanted to call but no phone number is listed. So I emailed them asking when I’d get the book. They emailed back saying the book wasn’t available and I’d get a refund. Ok- so why didn’t they email and/or refund before then? If I hadn’t contacted them, would they have just kept the money? Seems so.
