This pub is in such a pretty location just overlooking Crantock beach. We last went in June when we went to see the poppy fields in West Pentire and had lunch there. The food and service was great and I only knocked a star off as you have to order online which isn’t the easiest to navigate. Also when you walk in, if you haven’t booked a table you don’t always get the best greeting from the reception staff who behave like bouncers rather than front of house greeters but it might be that their facilities are abused by non customers and they’ve been forced to make those changes. Despite the weird ordering system we will continue to go back as the location alone is worth it.

We went to the Bowgie for a drink last Friday evening and I can honestly say it was the most disappointing experience. The whole place is brightly lit like a hospital. Then when you go to the bar the three ( friendly and polite) bar staff informed me that I could only order by app or by screen. After finding the screen I couldn't believe my eyes. It is basically a Macdonald's order screen.
Then at 8.15pm the bar lad comes and asks us if we want another drink as they are closing! ( Valentine's night and a Friday) This place used to be the place to go, it has turned into a tourist machine and has all the charm of a dentist waiting room.
Not for me sorry.

Have to strongly disagree with other reviews, we have just had lunch there and you couldn’t get a better and friendlier service, super fast, food was excellent and extremely fresh. Worth every penny and with stunning views, also dogs are very welcome.

Terrible. Have to order by website or console like mcdonalds, though the website kept erring so could not just relax at my table.
£8.50 for child meal which has only 1 sausage, or 3 chicken nuggets.
Gratuity requested when paying, which is unfair for staff as I can not predict how the service will be. Though no one cared if everything was OK with my meal.
All tasted like it has come out of the freezer. Can get the same ribs from a supermarket and the chicken burger was chewy like it was frozen badly.
Visited once and will not go again.
