Their hightest paid director earns £600,000
Their hightest paid director, according to Companies House data, earned more than £600,000 last year whilst front line care staff earn the minimum wage of £10.42. I was going to apply as a care assistant, but not now. The problem with private social care is the focus on for-profit at the expense of vulnerable elderly people who end up selling their homes to pay inflated care home fees just to line the pockets of fat cat directors and investment company shareholders. It's time the government legislated to stop this financial abuse.
My review is my experience in 2015
My review is my experience in 2015. Long time ago but the it kind of stuck with me. The mistrust to be precise. I worked as a special needs nanny and after 5 years I wanted a change so I applied at Care who gave me an interview date at Hilton Bracknell reception. A couple of days before I had pain in my kidneys I believe and went to a private hospital ( used the same doctor what my previous family I worked for used) and was offered a last-minute X-ray on the same day as my interview with Care at Hilton. I rang the elder lady up who did the interviewing and she thought that I made the whole thing up. She not just NEVER gave me another interview date but totally struck me off of any possible communication. Persona non grata I became. Well, anyway, I would like to thank her because I am teaching now and do not have to deal with people's bodies day-after-day.
Parson Grange staff where very friendly…
Parson Grange staff where very friendly extremely kind and looked after me during my visit . care home very clean and tidy .
Disgusting place
I worked there for 7 months. It’s an absolute disgrace, bullied everyday by management and staff. The nurses speak to you like your nothing but dirt on the bottom of their shoe. I’m 23 planning my grandads funeral on my own. Wasn’t allowed grievance time off. The staff don’t treat the residents with any respect or dignity. They leave doors open when doing personal care. The sponsorship staff that work there, don’t have a clue what they are doing or how to make toast. They left a resident in a wet pad while the resident was Mobile and could use the toilet/ commode. The place is vile and if you’re not a nurse or management you just get pushed aside and treated like dirt. Avoid at all costs
SHAMBLES…….
Worked for care uk for 2 year what an absolute disgrace and the management were no better! All had each others backs but couldn’t give two hoots about the staff or residents only time you see them TRYING to care was when the residents families were there all smoke screen and mirrors AVOID AVOID AVOID

Bourley Grange
My Parents are both currently at Bourley Grange and from my first call to them both settling in they have been professional, diligent, patient and caring and all the staff are friendly and all do a fantastic job . They put the elderly people they care for at the centre of everything they do with patience and empathy. The management are relaxed straight forward and communicate with the families of the loved ones they are caring for in an exemplary manner at all times.
Previous employee in Birmingham….
Previous employee in Birmingham….. the management are horrendous. They do not CARE about their staff or their residents. It’s so cloak and dagger, a closed door policy; they don’t talk to you, they talk down to you.
My time there made me unwell, I have never experienced such a hostile environment to work in and I’ve worked in a variety of settings during my working life.
There is no support when reporting managers to a higher level as they are all friends outside the workplace. I feel sorry for the residents and current employees…. It needs a complete overhaul and managers that actually care

I was an employee and a dreadful place to work. Management do not care about staff or residents and the care is poor due to lack of staff. I would urge people not to use as a home for a loved one or work for them

The first thing that hits you as you…
The first thing that hits you as you walk through to the hallway of the residential quarters in a U.K. care home is the stench of urine. It’s so strong you might mistake your whereabouts for the back alleys of some sort of crack neighbourhood.
The carpets are filthy and there’s very little privacy with sharing bathrooms dorm style at the age of 80 for the grand annual fee of £85K a year.
I’m not sure what has gone on in the social care department of this country, I just know if I had a pet pig I wouldn’t commit it to such an environment.
Have always been aware that there is zero regard for old people in this country yet to spend your last days in such terrible conditions has got to be the height of cruel.
(visited two CARE uk homes for my mum in Richmond and Isleworth, the management and admin allowing this can’t blame staff, this is a top down issue) .

Worked for care Uk for 6 weeks
Worked for care Uk for 6 weeks. Never worked in care before, within my first week I was expected to give personal care to an end of life patient, I was not prepared for this nor had appropriate training given. Eventually got basic manual handling training 2 weeks in. My mum passed away 6 weeks into working there, within a week of her passing they were calling myself and my husband to find out when I was returning to work… no compassion! Management were awful, staff are just a number, and I was expected to work 4 x 12 hour shifts on the run!
Care??? You got to be kidding!!

My Mother is in the Halstead Care UK…
My Mother is in the Halstead Care UK home in Dame Mary Walk, Halstead. I am disgusted to hear that my mother asked a care nurse that she needed to go to the toilet, to be told that she has had to do it in her knickers/nappy because the staff do not have enough toilet hoists in the home!! This is DISGUSTING! You wouldn’t leave an animal in its own waste! My Mother feels SO degraded that she is being told to do this! This is the first time I have heard of this! This home is not cheap so if you are thinking of putting your loved one here think again!!! I will complain to Social Care Ombudsman about this!!

Oakland Care
I am an employee for Oakland care and my role is Head of Housekeeping at Elmbrook Court Care Home in Wantage, Oxfordshire. This is the most friendly place I have worked. We are one big family and all department's help each other to maintain the residents are happy and well cared for. I look forward to going to work and each day is different. For anyone looking for a career in a care home, I would highly recommend it. Debra Fenn
Life saver
I would like to thank Care UK main office for all their help and assistance in helping me find a new nursing home for my husband, Their support and help was invaluable. Nothing was to much trouble. I was at my wits end in trying to find a home that would not only meet his needs but be a 'home' not a docking station to die in. Thank you. He is now at Buchanan court where the staff are friendly, his room light and bright, and he actually smiled for the first time in over three three years. thank you
Care?
Our recent experience of a Care UK, Care Home resulted in us removing our loved one within 3 months. Expensive 3rd rate care in our opinion.
Should be called “LACK OF CARE U.K. “
DIABOLICAL!! My aunt was removed from a Care U.K. home, Wellmeadow Lodge in Glasgow due to complete neglect. After multiple investigations by the authorities, Wellmeadow Lodge was closed down. Care U.K. said it was because the building was unsuitable. They, of course, didn’t mention the several cases of criminal neglect and complete negligence of the entire organisation. Unfortunately neglect is systemic in many care homes.
Thank you Sherwood Grange care home
Thank you Sherwood Grange care home. You've kept my aunt safe and happy. Good quality care and friendly team with a real focus on activities make all the difference, especially during this difficult time.
