My mother was a resident in care at a…

My mother was a resident in care at a Care UK specialist dementia care unit home here in my home town of East Grinstead in West Sussex UK. She was there and visited by myself regularly as her younger son, from December 2018 to December 2019, when I had discovered her whereabouts then revealed to me. As Social Services and the care home staff failed to alert me to my mother's having been committed there under Social Services order. I found out by someone whistle blowing her presence there. I had very mixed experiences of visiting my mother there. With repeated refusal at first by either Social Services staff or the care home management to acknowledge I was legitimately her son. And even making it difficult for me in my attempted visits there to attempt to see my mother, once I discovered her location there. With my brother acting in lie to all, regarding my mother both her condition to myself and to Social Services, and her whereabouts to me especially. All the time she was in the care home my elder brother was giving false misleading information to Social Services and the care home, regarding contesting her presence there. Stating he believed she was being kept there against his will and her own will. And should be returned to his care at home which was inadequate for her needs in the high degree of suffered dementia. Where she needed twenty four hour specialist care only a home could provide. However in my regular visits I encountered observed, a pattern of repeated bad practices at the care home. I tried to raise concerns of these with the staff and the management. After Social Services refused to assist me in logging an official registered complaint over their care and the falling short provided Care UK care. Some of the girls in charge of my mum were admittedly very capable carers. I appreciated all they tried to do for both my mum and myself. Even providing me photos of my mum both before and following her passing. However managers in meetings were accusatory and opposed my finding out anything to do with my mum's care. Refused to assist me where I encountered lies and deception from two male staff members there. Who attempted to stir up troubles between myself and my brother in telling tales of his visits there to see my mother. Informing me of accused bad behaviour by my brother. I raised these things being told to me with managers and was refused hearing. Even though they could see I was disturbed and upset with things these two staff members were telling me. Management refused to assist and investigate. They then began to lie about me themselves. Saying I had tried to create a scene at front desk on my way out in my having asked for a head office address to send complaint to, as they were refusing to assist me or put my mind at rest in my experienced problems encountered trying to see my mother at the care home. I now felt I could not visit my mother there safely without bringing a witness friend with me wherever I attended afterwards. My mother sadly passed away on May 22nd 2020. As it was Carona lockdown I had been unable to visit her there in recent months. As had been myself ill earlier in the first part of 2020 before the virus appeared. At the time of my illness into Jan to Feb I obviously was not going to visit the home so as not to affect my mother's or any other residents health. So then after that the home went into lockdown for the virus, and I could not visit at all up to the time of her death. They rang me the day before advising I urgently visit her as they thought she might not make it through the night. It was already nearly evening, and I was told by text by a staff member I knew myself from my church who worked there as a carer for my mother, that she was now asleep. I didn't want to disturb her and the staff member thought my mum would be ok till next morning when I had booked permission for urgent visit to possibly have to see her maybe for last time, to say goodbye if she thereafter soon was to pass on, dying. I booked an early morning visit giving time extra for their anti virus protections to be followed before I saw her. But sadly I was rung up again very early the following morning to tell me that my mum had died sometime in the twenty or so minutes before the call. I never got a chance to say goodbye and that I loved her. The Care Home failed in my requests to be put through them in contact with whoever was to take over as her Social Services care case officer during time of my visits to see her. Failed to pass on details as promised me on the phone to the company doing the funeral arrangements. I never got the chance to go to her funeral. Was deliberately excluded from subsequently doing so by my brother and the funeral services company locally. Francis Chappell and AG Rice. I'm very bitter at the way I was treated by the Social Services locally. By the Care Home management too

My mum was in care at tiltwood cobham

My mum was in care at tiltwood cobham. She was wearing a lovely ruby necklace which they acknowledge seeing when she was in respite, however denied seeing it when she became a resident you would think this was the case however they took photos of her wearing the necklace even though they say they didn't remember it. It was subsequently disappeared. Is this the way to treat someone with dementia. Shame on you

Care??? Uk.

Left care uk as bad employer.....manager doesnt have clue how too manage. Came up with all these ideas but never followed up on them. When home was severly hit with covid, manager was more concerned with who brought into home and not catching it herself than her staffs health well being. Staff leaving left right centre due too poor management and zero support. Literally no bank staff too cover shifts so ran short. Theres no confidentiality within home I worked in. Even residents knew confidential stuff. As for care of residents. When run constant short staffed or with incompetent staff, residents dont get care paying for. Food is abysmal. Paying £1200 week for sausage rolls baked beans?????

Subscription trap

I signed up for their premium service for a month for a reduced fee. I cancelled my premium subscription, but they kept on taking money from my account, without sending a single invoice to my email. I suspect this is just their business model. I have notified my bank and reported them as scammers to the citizens advice bureau. Don't fall into their subscription trap.

This company have no human regard for…

This company have no human regard for choice. They want you to have a jab that means you can still get and pass on the virus. These new jabs are experimental and still on trial until 2024 and no one is liable if you are injured. If they don't respect their staffs choices what makes you think they respect choices of the service user. Go and find yourself a job that respects your human rights and choices, that doesn't effect your mental health and pays more. coercing current staff to take this experimental jab is illegal. Take them to court. Disgarceful company.

Absolutely shocked

Absolutely shocked. You are a huge care provider yet run your staff into the ground. Several complaints to HR fall on deaf ears. Still there are multiple staff of with depression and you do nothing. Several of the staff at my home have had breakdowns or quit due to care UK’s lack of support. All area managers and office staff stayed safe at home and gave no help or regard to the residents throughout covid. You are a financially driven business not a care provider it’s disgusting you are allowed to continue with such poor practices

"Care" home........I think not!

My mother in law is in a Care UK home in Mildenhall. She has been assaulted by another resident, contracted Covid19 and was admitted to hospital (at the insistence of my husband) with a chest infection and dangerous levels of dehydration.
She is now "end of life" but the management of Care UK won't allow a visit from her only son until she is 48 hours from death at which time she will be in a coma and unresponsive.
I have nothing else to say........

Professional care

My mother went to live in a Care UK nursing home following a stroke in 2018. The home is in Worcestershire and is a lovely, clean, bright environment and most importantly my mother is quite happy there. The staff are very professional and any concerns are dealt with efficiently. If you are looking for a modern care home with young energetic staff then a Care UK home is ideal. Staff are well trained and the homes are built for purpose - lots of en-suite rooms and a variety of social rooms such as a dining room, lounge, library, coffee shop and activity room. Perfectly thought out care accommodation.

I got a job at a care uk home in Frimley, Surrey.
I lasted one day and I had to walk out as I was disgusted, ashamed, horrified at the poor management and zero training in this place.
I will never let anyone I know or love stay here.
It’s all about money and perception to it’s paying residents families...
Smoke and mirrors.
No safety training whatsoever.
Awful place..AVOID AVOID AVOID

Fast service , but not in a good way...

First contact with sales for a hip replacement for my wife (after being told an 18 month minimum wait on NHS) was efficient and caring, up until the first consultation which was paid for in advance (£98). Actual appointment was appalling, I was not allowed to accompany my wife due to Covid restrictions, which I completely understand, so I assumed my wife would have been well taken care of as she was obviously very worried. My wife was examined, quick manipulation of the joint, by a clinician and then asked to sign a form to go ahead, no discussion about what to expect during or after the operation at all, and when she said she obviously wanted to discuss things with me she was ushered out of the door. I think I was parked outside for less than 15 minutes after dropping her at the door, by contrast when we originally visited Weston General hospital via the NHS we were with the clinician for at least half an hour! The money for this operation is from our life savings and hard earned, so needless to say I will be taking our money elsewhere!!
