Perfect for a relaxing reset

We had a stay a couple of weeks ago and I have to say everything was perfect. There was one little hiccup which was the room we booked had some broken tiles in the bathroom which I didn’t like but as soon as I fed it back to reception the young man moved us to another room which was lovely (I don’t remember his name but he was so helpful throughout our stay). The hydrotherapy spa which is my favourite place to be was gorgeous, I had a relaxing facial too, and a special mention about their new gym equipment, first class! We had a gorgeous meal in the Thai restaurant, I had Pad Thai I think it’s called, it was delicious. Breakfast was pretty much what you would expect, cooked or buffet style.
I almost forgot to mention, we started our stay with a cream tea, they make the best scones 🙌 just how I like them.
Looking forward to our next stay 😊

Overpriced hotel(3star experience), reasonable Spa and restaurants

From the website and tariff, we expected a much better, more luxurious, hotel stay. The rooms were of 3star quality, bulbs missing, average decor, nothing special. Staff were inexperienced and a little clumsy, bursting into our room with another guest due to a room allocation error. Having a 3 night stay with restaurant discounts included, we ate at all 3 of their restaurants, which were good, if still rather pricey. We enjoyed good spa services. But the hotel experience didn't match up at all, and we feel we wasted money, even with a discount package. Should be a 3 star hotel, not worthy of 4. Overall, wouldn't recommend staying there, the New Forest has better restaurant options too.

Fabulous hotel and Spa

Just spent 2 nights at this beautiful hotel for our anniversary and had an amazing time.
The hotel itself was very well maintained, and our room was beautifully decorated, spacious and spotlessly clean.
Every member of staff we spoke with were very friendly, polite and welcoming.
Food in the Cambium restaurant was spot on and Le Blaireau very nice.
The Spa facilities were some of the best we've experienced.
Situated in a gorgeous spot, 5 mins walk into the village and 15 mins drive to Beaulieu and Bucklers Hard, both worth a visit.
Honestly could not fault our time there, it was perfect and would highly recommend.

I had an awful experience…

Unfortunately I had an awful experience with a employee named Erinn when a friend and I attended the spa. The pool and spa facilities shut at 8pm, by 8.25pm Erinn abrasively told me to leave the changing rooms as they shut 25 minutes ago. May I clarify the pool area shut at 8pm and we had to use the changing facilities to prepare for a sit down dinner included in our package. 25 minutes to shower, wash and dry hair is not an unreasonable amount of time. I truly believe Erinn spoke to me in this manner because I am a younger woman of colour as my timings clearly were not the issue. I referred this matter to her superior who then told me they spoke with Erinn and I had perceived our interaction incorrectly. This response is probably the exact reason she felt so comfortable to be so rude. I did urge them to check the cctv as this is not acceptable and then they stopped communication. In short I will not be attending again.

Exceptional Spa Facilities and Welcoming Staff

I went on my own to celebrate my birthday. The facilities are excellent, and even though I was alone, I found it easy to locate quiet rooms and areas of the pool—even during busy times (although it never felt crowded). The ice room is fantastic, especially when alternating between the steam room and saunas. The relaxation room is spacious, and the background music adds to the tranquil atmosphere. The staff were always very helpful and welcoming. The Thai restaurant was fantastic as well. I will definitely return.

Awful Birthday Experience with Cary’s…

Awful Birthday Experience with Cary’s Manor Spa Day Package
I was really looking forward to a relaxing birthday treat today, but while the spa itself was enjoyable and quite calming, the restaurant experience completely ruined the day.
We arrived for our lunch, which was booked for 2:00 PM, and were left waiting five minutes before anyone even came to seat us. The welcome was practically nonexistent, and we were told to sit wherever we liked. However, after choosing a table, we were immediately informed that we couldn’t sit there because it was set up for afternoon tea (despite the restaurant being empty).
There was no drinks menu on the table, so I politely asked for one. The staff member informed me that our package included a choice of either an alcoholic or soft drink. Since I don’t drink alcohol, I asked for the menu to see which soft drinks were available. My simple request was met with a dirty look, and the menu was handed over reluctantly.
When our drinks arrived, we were served tap water without being asked. Because I don’t drink tap water for health reasons, I inquired if it was indeed tap water. The waitress reacted as though I had committed a crime—pausing, staring at me in disbelief, and not offering bottled water until I had to ask again. Even then, the request was met with visible irritation, and I felt judged throughout the interaction. When I asked if I could purchase an additional soft drink, I was told we were only entitled to one drink with our package. Although I offered to pay for more, the service was blunt and begrudging.
Things only got worse when it came to ordering our food. The waitress came back almost immediately and told us we didn’t have time to wait because the restaurant’s last order was at 2:05 PM. This was incredibly frustrating, given that our lunch reservation was for 2:00 PM and we had been left waiting to be seated. The manager, who was equally rude, made a point of checking his watch in front of us and told the waitress to at least get our starter order. Less than a minute after being given the menu, the waitress pressured us to decide.
The whole experience was absolutely abysmal and created such an uncomfortable and tense atmosphere that it ruined what should have been a special birthday celebration. The poor service and complete lack of hospitality left me feeling so anxious and disgusted that I couldn’t even finish the meal, despite it being pre-paid as part of the package my girlfriend had thoughtfully arranged for me. It was hands down the worst meal of my life, from start to finish.
Cary’s Manor Spa Day Package failed terribly. The spa may have been above average, but the dining experience was appalling and enough to ensure I won’t be coming back. I wouldn’t recommend this package to anyone, especially if it includes the Thai meal at the restaurant.
1/5 Stars Absolutely awful. Avoid!

Dated Overpriced, Unclean Spa

extortionate rates. the rooms are not located in the beautiful red brick main building. Instead they are located towards the back in a 1960's type building that resembles a nursing home.
The spa needs alot of work, its quite dirty, tiles falling off, grout on the floor, buttons not working on jacouzzi, luke warm water, its not worth the expense or additional cost. overal the hotel rooms are dated

Amazing Hotel with Best Spa in the UK

Please ignore the fake bad reviews. We could not fault this wonderful hotel and spa. We stayed for 2 nights in a 1st floor garden room. The room was large, clean, comfortable. It had a sofa, table and chairs, 3 pillow wide very comfortable bed, fridge, tea and coffee, water, biscuits, desk and wardrobes. The room was tastefully decorated and very stylish. The hotel is so quiet at night. You could be in a cabin in the woods!! The bathroom was clean and modern and well lit stocked with toiletries.
We ate in the French Le Blaireau restaurant on our first night. What a lovely place. You feel like you are in France. The decor and food are very french. We had lobster soup to start. Then Sea Bream and Duck for mains. Followed by Creme Brulee and the french equivalent to an Eton mess!" All the food was amazing. Delicious and good sized portions. The 2nd night we ate in the Zen Garden Thai Restaurant. Again well decorated to make you feel like you are in Thailand. Food was really good and again good sized portions. We had the prawn salad, spring rolls, tom yum soup, beef masaman curry, pad thai, and rice. We used the Spa for 2 treatments while at the hotel. We has the Time for Two couple massage. Amazing. The Thai ladies are very polite. Best massages we had ever had. We also had head massages and facials. I came out looking 20 years younger!! We used the Spa facilities and the Hydrotherapy suite. I would say that the Spa is the best in the UK. Swimming pool, Jacuzzi, 2 steam rooms, 2 saunas, Hydrotherapy pool with loads of various jet stations that are activated by pushing a button, Ice room with tropical rainstorm experience, Tepidarium, etc. There is also a mud room, a relaxation room, a quiet room. Amazing experience and one which we will definitely be experiencing again.

A wonderful stay in the New Forest

We decided to spend our honeymoon at the Careys Manor Spa hotel where we had a wonderful time and were well looked after by the friendly staff. We spent a lot of time going for walks in the lovely surroundings of the New Forest. It was a pleasure to follow up a long walk with a dip in the swimming pool and the jacuzzi.
The hotel has 3 restaurants, a British, French and Thai. This was especially useful in bad weather as it meant we did not need to go outside. It is a good idea to book ahead as not all the restaurants were open each day or were booked up. We tried out all of the restaurants during our stay, each having its own ambience. All of the meals were good quality and tasty. We had three meals in the Thai as we liked the relaxed atmosphere and choice of meal options including vegan. There are also several restaurants and pubs within a short walk of the hotel.
We made use of all the spa facilities. Access to the swimming pool and jacuzzi were included in the price, with a little extra to use the hydrotherapy pool and some other facilities. I had never had a professional massage, so the staff helped me to choose one. This was a wonderful relaxing experience.
We were having such a good time that we decided to extend our stay by a day, to make the most of our memorable time in the New Forest and the hotel spa facilities.

This is one of best hotels we have ever stayed in

This is one of, if not, THE best hotel we have ever stayed at. Initially I spoke with the Operations Manager, Hannah Mason, who was extremely helpful, polite, professional and efficient. Hannah took details of our booking and was kind, patient and understanding of what we wanted regarding our stay at Careys which was a totally relaxing break in lovely surroundings to celebrate our 31st Wedding Anniversary. On arrival we were delighted with how beautiful the building itself looks and that it is so well maintained. Lots of character and exceptionally clean throughout. From the moment we made first contact until we left we could not fault it, they gave us a memorable, relaxing break. Stephen was really helpful and carried our bags to our room. On Reception we were greeted by Elizabeth and Hassine who were also so helpful and lovely. Food was exceptional we enjoyed breakfast in the Cambium restaurant serving a fabulous and freshly coked breakfast as well as full continental and so much choice. Fresh fruit salad, plenty of meats to choose as well as vegetarian & gluten free options. The staff here are, again, incredibly helpful and lovely to deal with. Emese is the Breakfast Manager and together with her team of Daisy, Rosie, Moat, Katie and Ming looked after us and, we noticed, all the other guests incredibly well. They have three different restaurants for evening meals but we opted for the Zen which is a Thai restaurant and are so glad we did. They serve absolutely gorgeous, authentic food, so much so that we actually changed our plans and went there two night's running. Thanks to Tik, the Zen Manager, Mink the Assistant Manager and all the staff as they made our evening meals with them very special with incredibly tasty food and wonderful service. We did have a dessert from the Cambium and Daniel brought that up to our room as we opted for a room service. Daniel was so polite, professional and helpful. The Hotel also has a Spa which looks and smells fabulous and Ellie is incredibly obliging. We did not have time to book any treatments but will definitely do so when we can book here again. The General Manager, Mr Steve Woodrow, clearly works very hard along with his team of amazing staff to give each guest a memorable, relaxing and special stay. Thank you all for giving us the break we had hoped for, we really appreciate it.

Amazing stay

I have just left Careys Manor with my 2 daughters having had the most amazing time. This was a pre wedding treat and I can't praise the experience enough. From the time we arrived, the staff were so lovely, Susi on reception was so friendly and just made us feel so welcome. The nice man that took us to our room and gave us our glasses of champagne on arrival, was so welcoming. We had a totally relaxing time in the Sen Spa with great treatments. Our meal at the Thai restaurant was a delight and again the staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast had everything you could want and we were able to relax drinking coffee enjoying the rest of our stay. I've been fortunate enough to travel and stay in wonderful locations and I can honestly say, I will be back again to enjoy everything Careys Manor has to offer.

Horrible

Horrible. Don’t waste your money.
Rude and clueless staff, absent management, sub-par overpriced rooms.
Careys Manor are so hit and miss on customer service and low on quality, why risk wasting hundreds of pounds on being treated like dirt?
The chances are you will also come away feeling taken advantage of and belittled. Perhaps even embarrassed if you stayed for what you thought would be an extravagant treat for a special occasion, only to be treated like your presence was an inconvenience.
Careys Manor need to learn to treat EVERY guest with top quality customer service, as if nothing is too much trouble, as if every guest is special.
Otherwise, drop your prices and your star rating because you are currently ripping people off.
You need your guests more than they need you, there are plenty of hotels in the New Forest to choose from that are much better value.
Shape up!!

Left feeling humiliated, patronised and angry.

I booked a special deal Break for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. It has been ruined by the rude and unhelpful reception staff.
I will fill you in with my astonishing experience with Careys Manor Hotel. I booked a dinner, bed and bfast deal, including a cocktail each for the 2 nights. The dinner deal was an allowance of £30 per person per night. I was also given a £26 voucher as a good will gesture for not cancelling over the Covid shut down.
To be met at reception by a very offhand receptionist. Here is your key, off you go. What about my cocktail vouchers? I asked. Where is the proof that you were offered these? I showed her the printout of the email, where it was stated clearly. Well they aren't available yet, I will look into it. Off you go. What about my £26 voucher? Again I had to show her the printout, feeling like a lying little fool. Again it would be looked into. Later, after I again went to the desk, I was given the cocktail vouchers but was told the 26 quid would be deducted from my bill. Ok then, what could go wrong?
When I checked out I asked for the bill and was told, oh, everything has been taken care of, so I had no paper copy which I thought strange.
At home, I checked my credit card, to find that I had a mysterious £26.11 deduction. So I rang up to enquire and was told they would ring me back. They didn't. They rang me the next day. It was the receptionist. Oh, she said, the £26 is for the wine you had at the restaurant, as the voucher was for food only. But we paid the bill at the restaurant for the wine each night. And where's my £26 voucher? Oh Madam, she said I think you'll find that the charge is for the drink. Well it isn't I said, I have the bill in front of me. Shall I take a photo of it and send it to you? Yes, she said, and I will get my manager to call you.
So the manager phoned me. By this time I was slightly annoyed. I explained about the rogue deduction. What is that for?Again, wine at dinner. At which point I felt absolutely furious. I said, I am well aware that I have to pay for the part of the meal that wasn't covered by the 60 quid allowance. And I paid that night. After a while she said, oh yes, there is an error. We will refund the 26.11 and the £26 voucher. I said why do have I had to go through this process? Why did I have to ask at reception for the cocktail vouchers? If you didn't want to offer the deal, then don't offer these deals I was only asking for what I was entitled to. It was embarrassing asking for the vouchers, they should have been there when I checked in. They have since offered me one night at the hotel to be taken in the next 18 months, but I will never stay here again.

Really disappointing customer service…

Really disappointing customer service from the management of Careys Manor.
Understandably, the hotel and spa closed during the coronavirus pandemic, however what is not okay is to refuse refunds.
After some abysmal communication during those few months, Careys Manor decided they were entitled to keep our £500 for our stay that we did not have, because they closed, and told us we could use it to come another time, perhaps next year.
I politely but firmly reply no thank you, I would just like to be refunded, to then be told again no I cannot have a refund, by the manager of a different hotel. How concerning that the management of Careys Manor itself couldn’t bother to reply.
In an email riddled with mistakes and poor grammar this “manager” did offer an extra free night when we did come and stay again.
Sorry no thank you, I will decide IF I come back, I will not be forced because you tried to hold my money hostage.
Knowing this goes against consumer law I sent another email to the “manager” and the area manger requesting again, my money back, and expressing my distress and disappointment. I heard nothing.
They were extremely active on Facebook, daily posts, however they were ignoring all the comments from disgruntled customers, of which there were plenty.
I eventually was granted a refund after sending a letter to the CEO. It took 5 months to receive my money back.
This horrible experience and their absolute disregard for their guests has me sworn off visiting Carys Manor ever again, I will also tell my friends and family not to bother either.
They sell themselves as a relaxing luxury experience, I can tell you it’s absolutely not worth the money.
Yes I have actually been and stayed before so I have experienced it for myself, the best thing about it is the Senspa, so do yourself a favour, skip the hotel part and just visit the spa for the day.
The actual hotel is overpriced, the receptionist told us we didn’t have a booking when we checked in because she forgot what day it was, the room looked stylish at first glance but was full of cobwebs, and our bill got mixed up with another couple.
To summarise, work on your customer service Careys Manor, it is really letting you down. You know you have to give refunds by law if you cancel bookings, so don’t fight with your guests, it’s not classy.
