About Dyson

Dyson was founded on the idea of solving problems that others ignore; vacuum cleaners that clog and lose suction, hand dryers that are energy hungry and don't work, and hair technology that relies on extreme temperatures and cause heat damage.

Since it was established in the UK in 1993, Dyson has grown from one man and one idea to a global technology company with an ever-growing team of engineers and scientists at its core.

Today, Dyson machines are sold in over 65 countries. From cordless vacuum cleaners to air purifiers to hair dryers ; a whole new generation of technology has made its way into the hands of Dyson owners around the world.

Poor customer service

Parcel never arrived. I was told on chat that I would be issued a refund but this did not happen and there has been no response to attempts to contact them since.

No post-warranty support for broken Gen5detect

Having paid £750.00 for a Dyson Gen5detect cordless vacuum cleaner, plus £100.00 for a charging stand for it; I expected a product that lasts well past its warranty end date, not four months after it.

Also, I expected a degree of support from its Executive Team after I contacted them (I had experienced issues with Dyson's Customer Services in the past; hence Dyson's Executive Team) and James Dyson three times after one of the wheels of my Gen5detect broke off suddenly when used on one occasion. Consequently, the Digital Motorbar cleaner head was damaged. On all three occasions, I received no response from Dyson.

I had hoped that purchasing a new wheel would provide a short-term solution, pending a response from Dyson. The recommended wheel advertised on Dyson’s website was rubbish and was not the correct wheel for the Gen5detect. I then looked to see if I could purchase a motorised head. There were none in stock. They are now currently in stock at a whopping £99.90!

I have purchased Dyson products for over thirty years and have to say that, following this particular experience and lack of support, I have no confidence in Dyson products that are no longer for purpose, and I would consider purchasing competitor products in future. Very disappointing.

Reliability

Now, how can you pay so much money for something and last for 2 Years on a very light use. I am talking about a Dyson V12 Slim. How come the reviews on Dyson Website are so high, but there are so many people complaining about it.

We have seen a deterioration in Dyson…

We have seen a deterioration in Dyson after care over the years. We have sent products back to their engineers but they have never managed to fix the problem. The last excuse we received was that they didn’t have the spare part in stock and sent the faulty machine back to us. Used to be a great business but if you can’t fix your own products that tend to break easily then customers (including us) will go elsewhere

Customer service lacked knowledge

Customer service lacked knowledge - on every one of 17 calls I was given different information, mostly inaccurate. They only offered a 12 hour window for collection of a device for repair and also delivery back. Staff did not know when and what type of repairs were possible in Dyson specialist shops and did not know the booking process.
Escalation on countless occasions only produced a standard response addressing none of my issues.
The item eventually was collected for repair costing £99 and delivered back with the same fault. When I raised this, I was told that Dyson as a 'goodwill gesture' would schedule a repair at no cost!!!!
For a premium product which is not cheap, Dyson do not care in any way about subsequent customer service. It would stop me from ever buying one of their products again. Keep well away.

Appalling service even after a screw-up

Four of the casters on my Big and Quiet air purifier became detached from the unit. I contacted Support, who deemed it was worth wasting my time on such a straightforward issue by requesting that I provide photo evidence. Despite my having registered the unit online, they asked me to repeat the serial number, which I did not have on me at the time. They shipped just one caster, not four, so I ask Dyson to consider why they require the customer to supply detailed documentation of an issue, but they themselves can't get the basics right.
Guess what? Despite the photographs, the casters were not at fault, but the base itself needed to be replaced. Again, why is Dyson asking for photos and then not diagnosing such a straightforward issue properly?
I contact Support and they determine that the entire unit must be sent to Dyson for repair. The wait time for a collection was on the order of ten days. When the day did come to collect the item, the courier brought an undersized box (it was marked "Dyson", so I'm imagining it was intended for a different model) and rescheduled the collection. Here we are with another interruption and wasted time. I contact Dyson again regarding the box issue. How hard can it be to bring the correctly sized box? The courier knocked on my door half an hour ago and once again presented the same undersized box. More wasted time. I contact Dyson and ask how the issue can be resolved and the representative explains that my issue has been escalated, which means that the support request goes through another queue. All Dyson had to do was contact DPD to get the right box sent out, but here we are with an uncertain timetable and a courier who keeps stating that they will return the following day. I resent the extend to which Dyson has opted to treat my time as completely expendable. They've offloaded their responsibilities to me. Do I ring DPD to try to correct a defective process that has likely affected multiple customers and that has resulted in higher costs (for Dyson) and consequently higher prices? Dyson, why not take 5 minutes to ring DPD and tell them to bring the right box? Instead, you've designed an infinite loop of despair.

***Update 3 Aug 2026
Dyson, despite an escalation of my issue, decided to cancel the entire process and go back to Square 1, which now means a 19 Aug 2026 pickup date. Whether DPD brings the right box or not is the big question. The rep kept asking "if there was anything else?". Any suggestions I made about sending me another unit (minus the filters) was met with "Can't do that." So why do you ask?

Vacuum broken after two months

Vacuum broken after two months, battery won't charge, CS insist on sending me a completely different part to what is needed - (all trouble shooters online say if battery wont charge and flashes red, it is a new battery required) for some reason Dyson will only send me a part completely unrelated to the battery and it takes 10 working days to get to me. So two weeks with no Vacuum and a £350 heap of junk in the understairs cupboard

Pitiful customer service. The vacuum is fine, but customer service is non-existent. The MyDyson app/website is broken won't let me log in, they don't answer the phone and just don't want to know. I won't be buying from them again.

Dyson Animal - A disappointing and expensive downgrade

I have used Dyson vacuum cleaners for many years and currently own three older models, which I use on different floors and surfaces. I regularly maintain them and replace the filters, but decided to spend around £750 on the V16 Piston Animal because I expected it to be a significant upgrade.

Unfortunately, it has been the opposite. The machine feels unnecessarily heavy and, more importantly, its pick-up performance is noticeably worse than my older Dysons. It struggles to collect Labrador hair from tiled floors, even with the recommended full-size cleaner head, and I have to go over the same areas repeatedly. My older Dyson models pick up the same hair far more effectively.

I also own an expensive Dyson hair appliance, so this review comes from a long-standing and previously loyal customer who is familiar with the quality Dyson normally provides. Although I have x4 air towers and actually not that impressed with them - not quiet sure they do anything!

For a £750 vacuum specifically promoted for homes with animals, the performance is extremely disappointing. The anti-tangle design may stop hair wrapping around the rollers, but that is of little benefit if the cleaner head fails to pick the hair up properly in the first place. Sadly, this does not feel like an upgrade and I cannot recommend it.

DISGRACEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE.2317

Having purchased a Dyson V8 in December 2025 direct from dyson, it arrived the following day. First time of use the handle and battery became extremely hot after contacting dyson it was exchanged the next day.
After a couple of months, when on maximum the motor would pulsate. After contacting dyson I was told it would need a new filter and one would be sent to resolve the problem. When it eventually arrived it did solve the problem so After contacting them again I was told that it needed a new chamber with the trigger. When this arrived I proceeded to follow the diagram of instructions but two screws would not move tried several times and then contacted dyson. The customer service was disgraceful. I was informed to get another person to help me use the screwdriver. When I said this wasn't the issue as I know how to use a screwdriver I was told it would need to come in for repair but it could not be pucked up for over 2 weeks which was unacceptable to me so I raised a complaint and asked to speak to a floor manager or supervisor. This was denied but was told one would contact me within 48hrs. After this period of time and now using my old corded dyson I phoned again to speak to a manager. AGAIN DENIED. Was offered a new motor head but was informed a manager would contact me.
Still Watford motor head still waiting to discuss appalling customer service and still using my old corded dyson.
DYSON I AM A RETURNING LOYAL CUSTOMER. YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A DISGRACE.

Truly disgusting customer service

Truly disgusting customer service. The worst I have ever experienced. Firstly promised next day delivery and finally arrived two weeks later after multiple chat calls with blatant lies to resolve the issue and annoying platitudes. Then had issues with a VAT refund, again involving me having to contact them multiple times only to be given pathetic apologies and told each time it was being referred to another team, please be patient but still no action. I will NEVER buy another Dyson product again even though the products themselves are good as I have had to waste so much time and stress over this. Appalling.

Awful experience I ordered an airwrap with next day delivery, 10 days later DPD tell me they never received the order and Dyson are saying DPD never delivered it. Fast forward another 9 days… still no refund on my now CANCELLED order, would have gotten better service through eBay! Do Not Buy!

Do not buy through Dyson, worst customer service

I would give a zero but can’t! I ordered a Dyson vacuum cleaner on the 8th of July, it still hasn’t been dispatched, today is 23rd of July. Dyson’s customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. I have spoken to them a total of four times and each time they just say we have escalated your complaint and you will receive an update in 24 to 48 hours, this never happens. I have also been promised on all occasions that the item will be dispatched within 24 hours and it still hasn’t. The last time I spoke to them I asked for my money back, which they refused, until I refused delivery and then sent the item back to the warehouse, which I can’t even do as the item has still yet to be dispatched! I have had to escalate my complaint through PayPal, as I am getting nowhere with Dyson. Do not buy through Dyson, is my advice

No Canadian site so putting the review…

No Canadian site so putting the review here. Purchased the Gen5outsize. There is 4 months left of the warranty. Both of the motor head screws broke off under normal use. They said they cannot do anything because of wear and tear. I was angry since I have a lot of Dyson products and never had issues. So when I tried to buy a new motor head it is out of stock and they have no idea when it will be in stock. They had no solution. Scary that an under 2 year old item they cannot get parts. Plus should have been covered under warranty. Dyson as a company is going downhill fast.

Good Repair Service

Good Repair Service
I have just used the Dyson Repair service for a repair to my cooling Fan. A short wait on the phone quick video of the machine. Then a wait of about 10 days for DPD to pick up all went smoothly and fan is back after 6 days all working for a reasonable price.
Will use again.

I was really excited to purchase the…

I was really excited to purchase the Dyson Airstrait, especially as I already own the Dyson Supersonic hairdryer and the Airwrap. I’ve always loved Dyson products and have been impressed by the premium quality, right down to the presentation and storage boxes that come with them.

However, I was disappointed to discover that the Airstrait doesn’t include a presentation or storage box. After spending £329 on a premium styling tool, I expected the same level of attention to detail and a safe way to store it when not in use.

The storage boxes supplied with my other Dyson products not only look beautiful but also protect the products and make them feel like a true luxury purchase. Without one, the Airstrait doesn’t offer the same premium experience, which is a real shame.

The product itself is excellent, but I can’t help feeling let down by the packaging and presentation. As a loyal Dyson customer, it feels like the brand’s usual high standards have slipped in this area. I hope Dyson considers including a storage box with future Airstrait purchases, as it would make the overall experience feel much more in keeping with the premium price tag.
