A Quote Shouldn’t Cost You Your Credit Score
My experience with easyfinancial was extremely disappointing.
I contacted the company solely to obtain a loan quote so I could evaluate whether I wanted to proceed. I was repeatedly told that obtaining a quote would not affect my credit score, and at no point did I authorize them to proceed with a loan application.
Instead, I was asked to sign documents that were presented as part of the quoting process. Shortly afterward, a hard credit inquiry was performed, causing my credit score to drop by 11 points.
When I later requested a written copy of the loan offer and terms so I could review them before making a decision, the representative refused to send anything in writing, insisting that the terms could only be discussed over the phone. She quickly went through the numbers and repeatedly asked whether I wanted to proceed. When I declined, her attitude became dismissive and unprofessional. Rather than answering my questions, she lectured me about interest rates and implied that I did not understand how they worked.
After I clearly stated that I was not interested in the loan, I began receiving text messages encouraging me not to “waste” the hard credit inquiry and suggesting that future lenders could interpret my decision not to proceed negatively. To me, these messages felt like an attempt to pressure me into accepting a loan after my credit had already been impacted.
I have retained all conversations, emails, text messages, screenshots, and supporting evidence. They will be provided to the appropriate consumer protection and regulatory authorities for review.
Based on my experience, the process lacked transparency, meaningful informed consent, and the level of professionalism I expected from a financial institution. I cannot recommend easyfinancial.
