DO NOT USE HALFORDS! FAILED MECHANICS ARE WORKING THERE! I went to ask for an oil fault to be checked after letting them know that my oil filter had been changed by another garage. After 2 diagnostic £100 spent, they told me it was the oil filter, so booked it to change it £250. The fault which was intermittent before was even worse afterwards!! Took it back, they said that they needed further check and that it would cost me £80... I refused and took it to a specialist garage who told me the issue was because the filter installed was cheap and 3mm short....
As well as ripping you off with cheap parts, people who work there do not have clue!!
I will fight to get my money back, this is ridiculous

Why didn't I read the reviews before ordering? My mistake, I ordered a dash cam mobile fitting, order went through everything was looking good then one week later the day of fitting, they send me a message to say ring urgently, no further information, no order number, no instructions on what extension was needed these were all important details as I was supporting my disabled son in town at the time of the call( my wife was home waiting for the dash cam to be fitted) passed from rude obnoxious staff and managers , finally my account was found only to be told item out of stock, it was apparently in stock when I ordered it!!! Why wait until day of installation to inform me, one very unprofessional manager was even laughing when I explained i had no information and was supporting my disabled son, I was promised a call back from senior management but that never happened, this was all easily avoided, poor customer service reading the reviews here its clear this wasn't a isolated incident, they just dont care, shop elsewhere.

I went into Halfords Inverurie this afternoon, to get my cycle tyres checked. I just want to say that Lewis, who assisted me was excellent. He checked the air pressure in my tyres and noticed that the inner tyre valves needed replacing. He also showed me how to apply oil to the chain, and gave other advice on cycle maintenence. I just want to say how impressed I was with the service I received. Nothing was too much trouble for him, and I just want to say a very big thank you to him. I left the shop feeling that someone really cared.
Car Service
I called to book a service for mobile to service my car at home, now after the service the management told me that the cv boot is split so I took the car to a local garage to do it which is harf the price than halfords as halfords was charging £300. As I got there and they put the car on the ramp the mechanic called me and showed me that oil is leaking from the washer next to the sump where they bleed the oil from I than called halfords to complain and they said they will book it for someone to come and sort it out. Beware as I will never use halfords again as they are very useless mechanic workshop so please to save the hassle and the stress and ur wallet dont use halfords

Doesn't help a distressed and in need child
I recently submitted the following to Halfords Customer service AI Chatbot.
I wanted to raise a concern regarding an experience I had recently at your Nuthall Road Nottingham store, which I do not feel reflected the standards I would associate with Halfords.
I visited the store to purchase several items for an endurance bike race that weekend and ended up spending over £70. While browsing, I overheard a young boy, around 11 or 12 years old, asking a member of staff for a replacement bike chain because his had broken.
The staff member told him they did not think the chain was stocked, despite the correct chain being directly in front of me. After speaking with the boy, it turned out he only had £6, while the correct chain for his bike cost around £9. The member of staff showed very little interest in helping and told him the bike would need booking in for repair.
I then asked the boy where he needed to get to, and he explained he still had around 4–5 miles to travel home at this point it was already 5:30pm.
I took a quick look at the bike and realised it only required a split link costing £2.99. All that was needed was access to a chain breaker and link pliers. However, when I asked to borrow the tools briefly to help the child, an older lady from behind the desk refused.
In the end, I purchased a multitool with a chain breaker for nearly £15 purely so I could help the boy get home safely, as none of the staff appeared willing to assist. The same woman approached me again and told me I needed to leave because they were “not insured” for repairs being carried out in the store and i should take the bike outside.
Thankfully, I was able to repair the bike and ensure the young lad could get home safely.
I was genuinely shocked by the attitude shown by the staff and the complete lack of empathy toward a vulnerable child who simply needed a small amount of help. Many years ago, I worked for Cycle Republic as an Assistant Manager under Halfords, and I can honestly say I would never have allowed a child to be left stranded in that situation, nor would I have accepted such an unhelpful attitude from staff members.
While I appreciate there may be policies around liability and repairs, there was a complete absence of basic customer care and common sense. The entire experience left a very bitter taste in my mouth despite the amount I spent in store.

Pathetic response to a concern.
I tried to order some service parts…
I tried to order some service parts from Halfords and did this online on Sunday to pickup in store in Leamington Spa. When ordering I was notified that two of the items would be in store on Monday and the other item by 4.00pm on Tuesday. I spent nearly an hour on the bus and walking to get to the store today (Wednesday) to find that the item expected Tuesday had not arrived. Halfords do not notify you when things are at the store and definitely do not notify you when they cannot meet the promised delivery date and time. I rang the helpdesk ,which turned out to be a waste of time as they said the item would be in store on Tuesday. No thought for the customer at all!
Very poor bike longevity
I bought an expensive electric bike seven years ago which was totally redesigned a year after I bought it so none of the parts I needed were available for my bike.
The battery died within three years and when I ordered a new battery again I wasnt told that the parts to my bike would be phased out.
My rear wheel needs replacing and of course there are no parts to fit my bike as they changed the design.
It is shocking that at seven years my bike has to go into landfill. I should have been told on purchase of the forthcoming changes.
I wrote to the CEO and was told by his assistant that these changes happen etc etc no interest at all in my disappointment or understanding that I was mislead at purchase.
Halfords you need to do better just look at your reviews.

DONT get any of their retail services
I would strongly advise others to avoid using any of Halfords services based on my experience. Unfortunately, this is now the second time I’ve received poor service from this store, and both incidents have caused serious inconvenience and financial impact.
The first issue occurred during a vehicle service appointment. The service overran the parking time limit, and staff failed to validate my parking as promised, resulting in me receiving a parking fine. It then took months of chasing to resolve.
More recently, I paid £100s for a dash cam with parking mode and and additional £100 for professional installation service. However, the parking mode was never configured correctly during the install. As a result, following a hit-and-run incident, the dash cam failed to capture the footage I needed — not even the exact time of the incident, which is crucial for insurance and police reporting purposes.
What has made the situation even more disappointing is the complete lack of customer support afterward. I made several attempts to contact the store and head office by phone and email, was repeatedly promised callbacks from management that never happened, and have now been completely ignored.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but after two major service failures and ongoing poor customer care, I feel others should be warned. Save yourself the stress, wasted money, and potential financial consequences — I recommend going elsewhere.
Cancelled My Membership but They Kept Charging Me
Paid for a membership mainly to use their MOT service and the experience has been awful from start to finish. The staff didn’t carry out the service I paid for and instead tried to push unnecessary additional work and charges onto me.
The worst part- I’ve been trying to cancel the membership. I cancelled and have email proof confirming the cancellation, yet I have still been charged twice afterwards. Instead of stopping the payments, they keep trying to offer discounts to keep me subscribed.
Every time this happens, I end up spending at least 45 minutes on the phone with customer service just to get reimbursed for unauthorised charges.
It should not be this difficult to cancel a membership and stop payments being taken from a customer’s account. Extremely frustrating and disappointing experience.

Do not buy from Halfords online unless you are certain you can collect the item yourself.
They would not allow a courier, or even another person I had authorised, to pick up my order. They also refused to refund it. When I tried to escalate the issue through online customer service, the chat was ended rather than referred to a manager.
An inflexible policy is one thing. Refusing a refund and shutting down the complaint is another.

Ordered a car seat on the 11th of May, Paid for next day delivery it’s now the 19th of May and still no car seat arrived and been contacting them and no one can give me a straight answer to where my car seat is currently, will have to repurchase from a different site, as due to the nature of a car seat and paying extra for next delivery I needed it promptly, but unfortunately I can’t cancel the purchase until it has arrived to get a refund, which they are unable to give me an update on that, had been also told it may not even be in stock and that’s why it’s delayed which is unbelievable that you would be allowed to purchase a product and it’s not even in stock but also not even to be giving the update of this or an option to cancel it. Extremely disappointed with Halfords if I could zero stars I would.

Once again, here we have yet another online retailer that takes your money from you in a flash...only to then take weeks to return it to you when the product is not suitable. I've chased 3 times now, and apparently 'returns/refunds' are a specialist team that only get contacted once in a blue moon when the customer has been left in the dark for too long, and is at their wits end. What sickens me more is that the owners of the organisation see fit to put customer service folk in the firing line, instead of growing a set, investing in the right level of resource and infrastructure. Would they be happy to let their sons and daughters sit in the firing line? Appalling. Arrogant. Greedy. Self-serving.
