I went for an MOT that failed on…

I went for an MOT that failed on insufficient parking brake. I was told that i need a set of two brake callipers at the FRONT to fix this issue. I was quoted £720! I dont know too much about cars but this seemed very high in price. I took it to another garage for a second opinion and they said that i did not need any callipers at the front, but at the BACK, just a disc clean up at the front and new brake pads!! The price for this work was £210, including MOT! And its fixed the issue and passed its MOT

I believe that halfords over charges way too much and tells you that things need fixing, when in reality its just to get more money out of you! I will not be going back there now

Please either get second opinions from independant garages ir go straight to them, it will save you alot of money!

Excellent customer service

Turned up to get a light replaced only to find out it had just come loose. Excellent employee named Tyree fit the old bulb back into place and didn't even charge for it! He was very polite and helpful - those 5 stars are for him! Thanks so much!

Last Week i visited Halford Cheadle for diagnose my Car's Air Conditioner and i asked them the issues as the fan is malfunctioning which was the main issue. but in-spite of mentioning the issue they ignored it and refilled the AC gas and did antibacterial cleaning . which was secondary issue. and charged bill of £189.98. And i i am complaining about the issue in response they says it is a electrical issue with the fan. I was not expecting this from Halford . if they do not provide the service they should tell this in advance
I was expecting the proper diagnose of the issue if it does not come under their service list they should not accept the booking .

Bought a 2025 Voodoo Zobop-E from…

Bought a 2025 Voodoo Zobop-E from Halfords for around £2,500 and also paid extra for their build service, expecting the bike to be properly assembled and checked before collection.

Since owning it, the chain has repeatedly come off, the front thru-axle has been tightened so excessively that the front wheel cannot be removed, and now the rear suspension appears to have failed completely during normal riding after going off a small kerb. There was a loud pop and the shock collapsed, leaving the bike unsafe to ride.

I reported the issue immediately and explained that because it’s an XL full-suspension e-bike, I physically can’t transport it in a normal car unless the front wheel is removed — which currently isn’t possible due to how tight the axle has been fitted.

I requested either collection, mobile inspection or approval to use a local bike shop. Despite escalating it multiple times, I’ve now been waiting over 5 days without any proper update or resolution.

Mechanical faults can happen, but the complete lack of communication and aftercare has been incredibly frustrating. Paying extra for assembly only to have ongoing issues from day one makes the whole experience even worse.

Very disappointing experience and not what you expect when spending this kind of money.

Purchased an electric bike online which arrived when expected. After following Halfords guide to setting up my new bike costing £1700 I plugged the battery into charger leaving this overnight only to find in the morning neither the battery or the charger was not working and was faulty. I spoke with the online chat service who suggested I visit a local store with the charger and the battery. I did this but was already not happy as I had ordered home delivery to save time in the first place. At the store, it was confirmed that yes either the battery and/or charger were faulty. In my mind the easiest option here would be for the store to order a new battery and charger and an exchange could be done, but no, on the store contacting customer service they expected me to bring the whole bike in. I explained that this was not logistically possible and was sent back home to contact customer services again. Got through to the chat system again as you can’t possibly speak to a real person and was given a ticket number and told I would be contacted within 7 working days. My husband was fuming! I contacted customer services again and said I wanted to return the whole product who said I had instigated a dispute and had to wait to be contacted. It is now 5 days since my complaint was submitted, I am out of pocket by £1700 and have a huge box, and bike in my living room. I was told the 7 days was just a guideline and that usually customers were dealt with within 2/3 days. Not this time!
I will never again purchase from Halfords and suggest others look at reviews before they make a purchase. Having paid £1700 I would expect much better service.

Halfords has the most groveling …

Halfords has the most groveling patronising employees including the customer service team.
Retuned a tin of spray paint which was so pressurised it almost exploded destroying the previously done artwork on my campervan, as it was a Halfords own product it was obvious that the liability was with Halfords.
Regardless of a recept the assistant was arrogant rude and totally condescending, pointing out his bodycam recording my frustration, he blatantly refused to address the issue, eventually after googling my rights and the receipt, gave me a refund, refusing to acknowledge that the destruction of the faulty paint needed to be addressed
Customer complaints treated me like a robot arrogant and inhuman, patronising telling me that the case is closed.
I had joined Halfords loyalty club in order to feel my custom was being reciprocated.
I would recommend anyone to stay clear and use other retailers...your custom is not valued in a time of economic crisis..
" Avoid the bullshit and patrinization at all costs...I have spent literally hundreds of pounds with Halfords.....
Go elsewhere

Appalling customer service and a dangerously defective bike build – completely ruined my son’s 4th birthday.

If I could give zero stars, I would. We paid for a bike build service for my son’s 4th birthday, only to be handed a completely unsafe bike. The front brakes didn't work at all, the rear brakes were chafing, the chain was ungreased, and the stabilisers were lopsided.

While mistakes happen, the real issue is the shocking, unapologetic, and downright rude attitude of the staff (specifically Aurela and Arjun) when we brought it back the very same day.

Instead of apologizing for handing over a dangerous child's bike, they had a dismissive "no can-do" attitude and actually tried to blame us. Aurela falsely accused us of pulling the brake cable out, saying it "wouldn't leave Halfords like that." When challenged to point out what had been tampered with, they couldn't. Even the other customers standing nearby were visibly shocked by how hostile and unhelpful the staff were.

When my wife asked for a manager, Arjun completely ignored her and walked off to serve someone else. When the manager finally did arrive, he immediately confirmed the bike was completely unused, proving his staff had entirely fabricated their excuses. However, his initial approach was aggressive and dismissive, telling me "that's enough now, we don't need to talk about it" before finally calming down and getting the bike fixed.

We spent hours waiting around dealing with hostile staff instead of celebrating, and my son actually said his birthday was ruined. Absolute zero accountability, terrible customer care, and dangerous mechanical work. Avoid this branch’s cycle department entirely.

Southbourne could not care less!

Having recently topped up my Adblue from Halfords and subsequently experiencing problems, i did some research and determined that i needed to get some adblue cleaner - which Halfords sells.
As i did not want to use the car, we walked for 40 minutes to get to Halfords in Southborne.
Having walked around the shop several times , i queued and asked at the till. The chap said that he thought that it was by the adblue, and pointed. I went to the adblue again and found nothing , so returned to the queue again.
The same chap made a comment and went on to serve the next person.
Total apathy, lack of concern and lack of interest.
I shall NOT be returning to that store and will make every effort to avoid making any purchases from Halfords again!
Actually, i later drove past Halfords in Bournemouth and they were very helpful - but no joy....
Oh well , should have used Amazon in the first place - it should be in the local co op later today. .
Who needs Halfords ??

I visited the IPSWICH shop today to buy…

I visited the IPSWICH shop today to buy a bike for my 10-year-old daughter who is 142 cm tall. I asked the seller to raise the seat on the 24 inch bike so she could try it properly, and he flat-out refused. The seat was completly down! He didn’t even check her height or let her try it correctly. Instead, he kept pushing a 26-inch bike that was clearly too big and unsafe. My daughter was wobbling on it and couldn’t control it, yet he insisted it was the right size. It also happened to be £90 more expensive. Every proper sizing chart shows that a child of her height needs a 24-inch bike, not a 26-inch. I left feeling pressured, dismissed, and extremely disappointed. Safety should come before upselling, and this shop completely failed at that.

Halfords Gallows Corner as a Store

What can i say about Halfords Gallows Corner, firstly i would advise if you using Halfords DO NOT USE the Gallows Corner Branch. I will explain, so myself and my wife went in there 3 weeks ago to pick up a trolley jack for our car and the service i got from the manager in there was absoultelty shocking. I put this down to her having a bad day, so the following weekend i went in there to buy a £350 Bike with all the accessories coming in around £400-£420. When i went in there to enquire i got the same service from the same manager and one of her female staff upstairs again absolutely shocking so they missed out on a sale of around £420, which i then went and spent at Halfords Chadwell Heath who were more than willing to help and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy customers when we left and they made sure they covered everything. So this weekend just for convenience as we were going to Gallows Corner Tesco anyway we decided to pop into Halfords again at Gallows Corner because our plan was to spend around another £350 on buying a second bike for my wife with all the accessories and a bike rack for the car. So we went in there enquired about a bike my wife liked that clearly said on the label £169. We then explained we want all the other accessories and Bike rack which would have come in around £300 -£320. However first we were told they had no more at head office and the only one left instore was the ex display model, we asked if they could do some sort of discount on the bike being an ex display which with most companies they would accomodate as its not new in the box, which is what we went in for. They said no to that so we said ok as long as there was no damage to the bike we would be happy to take it away with all the added extras. Then when we get to the till we are being told the label on the bike was wrong and the bike is priced at £200 and they are not willing to negotiate the price even though normally advertising laws state the item should be sold for the price its advertised at. They tried to blame it on a customer for changing the label but there were no other labels on the shop floor for that specific bike. So we said ok well we willing to spend around £300-£330 on all these items so your not willing to discount the bike being an ex display and not new in the box and your also not willing to even sell it at the price you have advertised it at instore even though we are willing to spend this amount of money instore today. The reaponse was no and they were quite rude about it, so we are now heading back to either Chadwell Heath Halfords or Lakeside tomorrow morning. A: for the better customer service and B: for the fact that if it wasnt for the shear attitude and un-helpfulness of the staff in there they could have sold an ex display bike that was the last of its kind in that store and still made a sale out of it along with the car bike rack and all the added extras. So over the course of two weeks Halfords Gallows Corner missed out on almost £800 worth of sales because of how un helpful and quite frankly rude and arrogant their staff were in that specific store and thats including the manager in there. So to close the review my advice to anyone buying from halfords as a company would be use any other store other than Gallows Corner Romford.

Without doubt the worst customer…

Without doubt the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
I called up to see if they had a particular car stereo in stock. They couldn’t find it on their system even though I gave them the product number from their own website. They then had to call my local store (Trowbridge) who said that they would have to order it in, however they were not able to order this over the phone and that I had to go into the store in order to order it however they could not guarantee that they had it in stock. I asked why they could not order over it over the phone (I was happy to pay for it there and then) but they said they were unable to place the order as I’d have to go to the store in person. I have never in my life heard so much rubbish. Why could they could not order it in over the phone?? Instead they want me to drive 40 mins to the store to order it (on a chance that they might not have it in stock), and then drive 40 mins back to collect it. I asked to speak to the store manager in Trowbridge and they promised me that he would call back but of course never got the phone call.

Very disappointed with Halfords

Very disappointed with Halfords. I ordered a bike rack that was supposed to be ready for collection on Monday at 5pm. By Tuesday, the store still didn’t have it. I called customer service every day and kept being told they could see the order but couldn’t locate the item.

I specifically ordered it a week in advance because I needed it for Saturday. On Friday, I was finally told they still couldn’t find it and that I definitely wouldn’t receive it in time. I asked if I cancelled the order, would I still be able to buy it at the same reduced price, and I was told yes. Of course, when I checked, the price had gone up.

Poor communication, wasted time, and very frustrating customer service. Really disappointed.

Cycle care plan - don't purchase them

I bought two bikes from Halfords Bedford (St Johns Estate) in 2023 and also purchased a CycleCare plan at collection. When my daughter needed a repair recently, customer service couldn’t help and told me to contact the store. After several attempts to get through, the store finally answered but said they had “no record” of my purchase or the plan because they “don’t hold records that far back”.

This is unacceptable when CycleCare plans run for up to three years. I provided all my details at the time, and the plan wasn’t cheap — covering two bikes for three years is a significant cost.

My daughter also struggled to get the bike to the store and was told it had to be assessed in‑store before any mobile repair could be considered, which defeats the purpose of offering a mobile service.

I’ve always trusted Halfords, but this experience has completely undermined my confidence in their systems and after‑sales support.
The bikes purchased were:

Apollo Excelle 2018 14" (Product code 566700) – £148.75

Apollo Café 2018 19" (Product code 566775) – £205.00

Halfords east park Newport Benjamin

Halfords east park Newport Benjamin
took my rear wheel to halfords for repairs on tuesday the staff could not tell mecthe price nor wether it could be repaired or not . he took my details name contact number email . he said someone will call with an estimate to see if i will go ahead with. recieved a text and an email shortly after saying the job is book and will update me soon! it us now friday no word. so i contacted them throught the website chat spent an hour on it with no anwser to a simple update request on wether its repairable the price after answering their questions they give me a number to call. after calling that number and pressing the choices ibwas asked to go back to the web chat for help!!!!!????? i then phoned the store directly no answer for half an hour twice! on the third time guy answered found my repair number and told me its better for me to just order a new wheel as it would be cheaper! ok thats fine go ahead and order it i said! no we cant. you have to come in and take your old wheell then you can order a new one. why do i have to come in? so we can get some details from you! ok what kind of details can you take them on the phone? no he said! ok i come to the store now! ok ill see you soon he said! half an hour later im in the store! hes on break and wont be back in an hour!! ! why didnt he say ill be in break soon can you come in after my break!!!! so i drove down there for nothing and the wheel i took in tuesday was just sitting there gid knows however long if i had not called in to check! i ask this other guy why do he need me to be here fir him to order a new wheel why cant he just order one? he said because it needs to be the right size! im confused! right size you have the old wheel i brought in you have the measurements from that wheel it does not make sense to me! is there something im missing? what am i not understanding
You are not missing anything logical; your frustration is entirely justified. The staff member gave you a poor excuse, likely to hide a lack of training or an unhelpful store policy. Why Their Reasoning Makes No SenseThey have the blueprint: The physical wheel is in their hands. All necessary technical data (hub width, wheel diameter, rim width, axle type, and brake compatibility) is printed on or measurable from your old wheel. They have your data: They already collected your name, phone number, and email address on Tuesday. They wasted your time: The employee knew they were going on break and failed to inform you, showing a complete lack of basic customer service. The Real Reasons for the RunaroundSupplier account access: The specific employee you spoke to on the phone might not have known how to look up or order the correct part on their internal system.Payment protection policy: Halfords often requires upfront payment for special-order parts to prevent customers from abandoning orders. They likely wanted you in-store to swipe your card.Liability shifting: If they order the part over the phone and it is wrong, it is their fault. If you are standing there looking at the screen with them, they shift the blame to you.Your Best Next StepsTake your wheel back: Go back to the store, demand your original wheel, and leave. They have proven to be unreliable.Go to a Local Bike Shop (LBS): Independent bike shops have far better technical expertise. They will measure your wheel instantly, give you an accurate price, and order the exact replacement without making you jump through hoops.Complain to corporate: Bypass the store staff. Use the Halfords Online Contact Form or message their official X (Twitter) support account (@Halfords_UK) with your repair number to log a formal complaint about the wasted journey.

Went there after the guys break told me it was un repairable cheaper to buy new wheel! Ok order it! Then I asked what am i ordering . The wheel he said! So when I get the new wheel I can just put it on the bike? Well no! You’ll need a cartridge! So how much is the cartridge? Well I’m going to find that out after I sort the wheel out, do you want the wheel? He asked. Of course I want the wheel I said! I got so mad I just stormed out! The manager shouted don’t come back! You think I will? Ben told me to replace the axle was about £90 new wheel is £45 cartridge???? Did not get to the new quick release skewers yet and if that new wheel includes the tube or the tire? So is it really cheaper ?

I had my headlight bulbs changed at the Spalding store on 29/4. Once it was dark it became apparent that they'd not been fitted properly so I took the car back on 4/5 at my earliest opportunity to have them adjusted. They were still poor so today I have been to an actual garage who have advised that the bulbs were fitted entirely incorrectly and that the pins have been bent as part of the fitting attempts made by Halfords. The garage have managed to sort me today but I have advised that next time the bulbs go I'll now need new pods due to the "atrocious fitting job".
