Had to renew our House Building and Content Insurance. On Go Compare Hastings were very competitive so called them. Staff were friendly, courteous and professional. Questions were answered quickly so decided to switch.

One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. Cancelled my policy on the 3rd of August through self service portal and was advised I would receive any outstanding premium balance. 10 days later I see they are still trying to collect direct debit so I write again and was told they had contacted me twice with cancellation offers which I did not reply to. Never ever heard of a cancellation offers which. I cancelled outright. I was told my policy was still active even though I had cancelled it. Then today I find almost £100 taken from my personal account, the account I used to pay the deposit from with no notification or authorisation. This is not the account the direct debit was taken from which was cancelled. This is fraud and unacceptable behaviour by any insurance company. It has been reported by bank as fraud and will be going to the ombudsman. People beware this company are capable of this sort of thing. Shocking

I’ve been with Hastings for almost a year for my car insurance and every interaction with them has been fantastic. Very helpful and quick to answer any questions / concerns I had. I would recommend for young drivers.

Worst insurance company i’ve ever dealt with. Refuses to pay out on an issue even though it should be covered and then punishes me by raising my policy renewal by £200 citing claim history even though I never made a claim because they refused to pay out. So great, you don’t payout then raise the price for a claim you never paid.
