My father has been in Northampton…
My father has been in Northampton General hospital for a period of over 3 weeks. Between myself and other members of family we have spent over £100.00 on rental of just terrestrial TV. 50 percent of that time the picture has pixilated to the extent of not being able to see a viewable picture. On speaking to Hospedia's so called customer services representative we were informed that they are unable to refund any of the rental costs and were also informed that if we were not happy with the service we had the opportunity to not use it!
I am not sure how this company has escaped having their contact with the NHS cancelled. It appears it is renewed year after year. even though they have a 1 star rating on Trust Pilot!! Look at the reviews and ask your self the same question???
By the way the engineer that came out to look at the problem explained it was all to do with everything going through ITV??
The NHS need to rid themselves of this company who are taking advantage of patients that are being ripped off for poor quality service.
been in and out of hospital for many…
been in and out of hospital for many months the picture pixilated.
A complete money making scheme
If it could be given 0 stars this would be more appropriate as you can only pay for 1 day or 3 day packages so this so fleecing the vulnerable and many who may not get visitors. It tells you you can have longer stay packages but have to call to enquire as not a available to purchase on screen so again another money making scheme. The patients are in hospital for a reason and should not be made to pay for tv especially if this is the only source to keep them occupied. Get this sorted to be free not from 2024 as I’ve read. Also just have one package price and not 2 as if you can charge £10 for a child’s package then you can charge £10 for all and you may find more people will but as it’s a more reasonable price.
I too wish I could leave no stars
I too wish I could leave no stars. I agree with all these negative comments. Someone is sitting happy on a bundle of cash clawed from hospitalised people who need something to help them through their ordeal.
Other than the expense I am dismayed at the system. My mother has dementia, like many others on the ward. In no way can she operate these controls. Its arduous getting to the movie section. The TV list is absymally minimal. They have taken off Film4!
My mum rarely sleeps so she's sat 24h watching watching the same channel. Some nurses tell her the equipment is not theirs so they can't help.
Hospeadia should be disgusted with themselves. Putting on the 'poor' like this. It can't be diffiult to show Freeviw channels at least. Roll on Karma !!
Don't waste your money
Currently in the RSCH Brighton. Paid for a 1 day service. Picture is pixilated or non-existent. Completely unwatchable. Massive rip off, DO NOT BUY! 1 star because I can't give zero.
Hospedia System
Currently a patient in Southport Hospital, I thought I would look into the charges for viewing tv. In the current financial climate, I think the charges for afternoon and evening viewing are extortionate which explains why most people don't use it.
While the World Cup is on, it might have been a nice idea for screening of the matches to be free of charge. A nice gesture of good will maybe?
In addition, given this is the main menu ordering service, a lot of patients are elderly and either unable or too unwell to operate this. If the idea is for the staff to do this on the patient's behalf, they are very short staffed right across the hospital and simply don't always have the time to do this. Hence when food arrives, it is something of a lottery as to what patients actually get if they haven't been able to order in advance. Even when ordering, on more than one occasion in the last 8 days, the meals I ordered were not available and a substitute sent. Even jacket potatoes weren't available so pasta was sent which unfortunately wasn't acceptable. It's then left to staff to scurry round trying to find a meal suitable for the patient.
It's a shame as the system could be really useful with a few amendments.
SAVE YOUR MONEY
At this moment I am attempting to watch the snooker semi final of the UK championship. I am in St George’s Hospital, Tooting. The picture is awful. It is almost black at the top of the screen, the brightness switch makes no difference. Package includes “ all your favourite channels” - not so - check before you buy. Films ? There are indeed about 50 on several channels. I couldn’t find a single one I wanted to watch. Of course others may enjoy them - but unfortunately not me. My actual award is -1 star.
ABSOLUTE GARBAGE
Absolutely garbage bought a 3day pass its off more than on it advertises skysports as standard then directs you to a phone number that doesnt answer and the main operator is deadline
Disgraceful Company
One of those companies that you need you be able to leave no stars for. You are a captive audience in hospital - most likely ill and bored. The costs for TV are really shocking - £34.90 for 7 days, £49.90 for 14 days, £59.90 for a month. Customer service unfriendly and disinterested if you have the bad luck of contacting them
Customer service lady lyndsey very rude…
Customer service lady lyndsey very rude tried to speak down to me wouldn't let me speak with a manager misleading says 50 plus movies channels on a day package there is 8 channels and you cannot watch 50 movies in 24 hours very misleading also emailed ceo James about this lady
Absolute day light robbery
Absolute day light robbery, currently in Darlington hospital and have purchased the TV package with films, none of the channels are working and the screens are just freezing. I called the customer care contact line to be told there's nothing they can do until and engineer has been even if that's when I've left hospital. No offer of reimbursement even know I can't use the product they've sold me through no fault of my own. Terrible service.
Disgracefull charges
I have given one star because I couldnt actually write a review without doing so, if I could I would give no stars, people who are in hospital are not there because they want to be and to charge for watching tv is utterly wrong. I'm not a particularly avid tv watcher but when you're stuck in a side room with very little else to do particularly when you have a window that you need to be 6ft to see out of is honestly sole destroying. I'm in here for the next 5 weeks at the moment I refuse to pay the exorbitant prices to watch TV this is wrong wrong wrong, I'm going to have a good cry and get it out of my system, come on stop money grabbing and have a little compassion hospedia, at least have free view you can access all day.
A useful review make free view available all day I'm done
I have emailed rip off Britain with my concerns, after all the many bad reviews with one exception, there still seems to be no change. I would suggest other people do the same and contact ripoffbritain, watchdog or any other media outlets, this problem needs to be rectified and the many bad reviews not
to be ignored by hospedia.
Daylight Robbery
Like all the reviews hospedia is a complete rip off
I have been in DPW Hospital in Grimsby for 3 weeks and spent £80 to watch a cracked screen. Some of the picture is even lost on the left hand side
They do not supply the full list of free view channels and there is no access to decent wi-fi
So you’re basically stuffed
Someone should read these reviews and take some action
Totally out of order
My mother relies on the TV to keep her company, she has been affected by a stroke and so when the TV plays up she can end up going without, as she is non verbal she can't tell me when. It's a lot of money to pay when it keeps playing up/logging her out etc this last one I couldn't get the TV back on before visiting hours were over so had to kindly ask the nurse to check for me but obviously they are busy too. Disappointing service, especially for the money you pay! Totally out of order.
Couldn’t believe it would get worse but……
Was bad enough when I was in UCLH eleven years ago, but now, despite the competition from people bringing in their own entertainment on their phones tablets, etc. it’s actually got worse! £19.90 for 72 hrs of “your favourite tv channels” except it’s only a fraction of the channels available on freeview. The quality of the picture and sound is like something out of the last century and my particular screen was a mosaic of cracks. Even bigger rip off than before.
Hospedia thieving off the sick
My dad has been in hospital for 14 weeks and spent over £500 on tv. Surely if you are in for that long you should get it for free. It’s absolutely shocking how much they charge and even worse that the nhs allows this.
DISGUSTING
No offensive words your absolutely greedy people taking money from sick and vulnerable people you should be ashamed of yourselfs your services and charges!!!! THIS IS A TYPICAL BUSINESS NOT FOR THE PEOPLE DAMN RIGHT DISGUSTING!!!! NHS HOW ARE YOU ALLOWING THIS!!!!
Crooks
Of all the private companies that are dipping for profit into our tax money this has got to be one of the worst. Utter rip off merchants peddling a terrible version of freeview for twenty quid a day to a captive audience. In addition they have awful customer service and an opaque bent pricing model.
No Stars !!!!
As with others if I could give no stars I would. My mum has literally moved from one bed to another in the same ward. Apparently GDPR doesn't allow them to move the credit from one unit to another without my mum ringing from her bedside phone. My mum is deaf, so the only way is for ward staff who are already run off their feet to ring for her. Absolutely ridiculous. Sadly no choice but to continue using them.
Poor quality tv service for the money I…
Poor quality tv service for the money I paid nearly £25 for 3 days. The movie choices were poor and repetitive. The picture quality is poor and kept going off. One night I reloaded the television for 5 hours I requested the lost time was added to my account but they refused saying I should have called them in the night to report the issue. I was unaware they were available 24 hours a day. The service is not the easiest to navigate and I feel a true rip off when patients have little choice but to pay.
