NEVER use HotelStorm unless you want to be double charged

So, we booked a room for $98.14, all seemed fine until after we left and then the hotel charged us $78.72. The hotel stated that hotel storm didn't pay them so they charged us and that the room rate should have only been the $78.72, not $98.14, that I needed to call Hotel Storm and work it out with them. I called hotel storm who then stated it wasn't their problem, that the hotel needed to refund the second charge. When I asked why I was charged $20 extra for the room, and if I could have a refund for the difference, they said no because I agreed to that price at the time of booking, which though true, was slimy. If I had gone directly to the hotel, I would have saved $20 and a bunch of aggravation...also, still waiting for the second charge to be refunded. When I called back I was told they were working on it............ >:-(

I can tell you right now all these…

I can tell you right now all these negative reviews are absolutely true. I used hotel storm as part of a T-Mobile Tuesday deal and reserved a resort in the Dominican republic for 4 nights. Upon arrival, not only could they not find our reservation they would not honor our room. Even with all the valid receipts and contacting hotel storm, hotel storm contacting the resort. We sat in the lobby for almost the entire first day. At one point hotel storm told it was late and they'd call me back tomorrow... Horrible business. T-Mobile needs to cut their ties with them.

Horrible SCAM!!!

Horrible! Husband is an active duty marine, and I requested to cancel within 24 hours of booking when his orders changed and he couldn't stay. They kept our money and the Sheraton and Visa couldn't do anything about it. SCAM!!!

Beware

Beware, I recently used this company to reserve a hotel room. Once I received the confirmation code, the hotel showed a total cost of $140.00, while HotelStorm charged my credit card $198.00. If Hotelstorm alleges they "negotiate the best hotel offers", they certainly don't pass them along to the customer. They charged me more than $55.00 than their "negotiated offer". Sounds like unscrupulous business practices. Won't use them again, that's for sure.

As an update to my original "one star" rating, I contacted WikiBuy who partnered with HotelStorm for these "Negotiated Rates" they advertise. WikiBuy advised that "HotelStorm does negotiate a better price than the retail rate of other travel sites, so you should always be getting a better rate than if you booked elsewhere." What they don't tell you is that the full "Negotiated Rate" is NOT fully passed on to the customer. For example, in my case, they gave me a price of $198.00 which was lower than other "Travel sites" were offering, but they didn't tell me that their "Negotiated rate" with the hotel was about $140.00 (which is what's showing up on my Hotel invoice). So the price they give you is NOT the "Negotiated Rate" (as they advertise on their site) with the hotel. It's just lower than you would find at other online travel sites. They're technically not lying when they tell you they "Negotiate a lower rate". It's just that negotiated rate is not all passed back to the customer, so I'm bringing their "one star" rating to a Two Star because it WAS actually lower, but not their Negotiated Hotel rate (which I would have expected). Seems like a shady business/advertising practice (hence a deduction of 3 stars). Hopefully the reservation will be there when I check in. (To be continued...)

I was able to save ~75$ on a one-night stay through HotelStorm, and had no issues at check-in when I got to the hotel. I always recommend shopping around to always find the best price, but HotelStorm delivered that to me here and created a seamless experience as well!

Scam

Scam. Booked a room and an error message appeared advising the booking did not go through yet a charge instantly appeared on my credit card. Disappointed American Express promoted this as a customer offer.

Thieves, unacceptable service

Absolutley awful experience. I booked two rooms on two different credit cards. Whe nbn i got to the hotel, i was told that they were already all booked and could not find my reservation. The concierge directed me to a neighboring hotel. Im now down 600 $, when it should have been 280$. I tried to cancel it that day through email, but they notified me that i never checked in. (How can i check i if the hotel is booked?) Apparently their support could not understand. I called one week later when i got home from work, and they told me that they could refund me but there would be a 75$ processing fee. I was appalled, so i decided to call the hotel myself. They found my reservation and returned my money promptly. I waited a week for my money. When it didnt show up in my account i called the hotel and i was told that the money was returned to "priceline." So i called hotelstorm once again. Even though i did all the work to get my money back i was still charged the processing fee, but since i used 2 different cards i was charged 150$. In the end my money was finally refunded out of the 280$ i got back a measly 126$ less than half of what i spent. My advice, don't use hotelstorm unless you want to lose at least 75$.

SCAM

SCAM. They booked my hotel for the wrong day, claimed they got in contact with the hotel to amend it. I called the hotel directly and was told they never had contact from the company. HotelStorm claimed they couldn't cancel it but the hotel policy allows you to cancel up to 24 hours before and we books weeks prior. DO NOT BOOK.

Do NOT use HotelStorm

Do NOT use HotelStorm. I booked a hotel for a wedding and had to cancel due to Hurricane Florence. I called to cancel as soon as I found out the hurricane was headed directly for Wilmington NC, where the hotel is located. But it was two days to late for a full refund, and they would not give me a full refund. They charged a ridiculous processing fee of $75 which is about half of what i paid for a 2-night stay.

I asked to speak with a manager, and of course there was not one available. So i asked for a call back, which the rep told me would take 24-hours. The next day, no call back, so I called them again. Now the rep tells me no manager available again, and don't know when one will be available, they been out sick. Supposedly only one manager there? Then the rep goes on to tell me that they manager has 24-48 hours to call back. So, 48 hours later, still no call back.

Horrible service and communication. I wish I would of just googled "HotelStorm Reviews" before I used them.

Bad rate, worse service.

To book a hotel for my recent trip to DC, I used a service call HotelStorm, though my union's benefits website, MTABenefits. The deal I got was only a few cents better than I would have gotten through a more mainstream site, but it was only when I got to the hotel that I found out that amenities usually included with rooms at that hotel were not included with my booking. My three-night stay ended up costing over $200 more than I had originally paid.

When I returned and got in touch with HotelStorm, I received an email essentially telling me I should have known better than to expect what the hotel, itself, advertised. Though there was nothing to this effect on their website, they suggested that I should have known I wouldn't be getting the level of amenities other guests at the same hotel would have received, or which I would have received had I paid a few cents more at a different website. They couldn't even go so far as to provide the name of the person with whom I was corresponding, signing their email with only "HotelStorm Concierge." When I responded that I was upset at this lacking level of customer service, they replied after two days that they care about my experience (not enough, clearly, to make it right in any way), and regretted to hear it wasn't as I had hoped.

Should you run across HotelStorm in your travels (pun intended), or if you, too, are an MTA member, don't bother with them. You'll get a better deal elsewhere, and you might actually get some customer service.

I wish I had read these reviews before…

I wish I had read these reviews before I dealt with this company. 🤬. I booked two nights at a hotel and at check I was handed the receipt and the charge was $101 cheaper than what Hotel storm charged me. When I talked to a customer service rep his response was “that’s just the way it is”. Are you kidding me??? I could’ve booked the room directly from the hotel! I’m definitely going to share his with my employer and all employees and on social media. We have got to stop these thieves from taking our money!!!

Hi Jannette,

Thanks for your review. Our rates are from a negotiated prepaid allotment that hotels make available to us. Hotels may sometimes have lowered the direct rate or even increased the direct rate they offer at the time of your check-in, depending on how many rooms they have occupied. HotelStorm offers great deals for bookings, but we always encourage travelers to check rates from different sources to make sure they are getting the best deal for them.

Hi Desiray,

Thanks for sharing your feedback. I can see in your reservation notes that the charge from the hotel was refunded to you. We sent you an email with explanation five days ago.

There seems to have been a mistake made at the hotel where they did not see our payment, and thus charged you. We worked both with the hotel property and our supplier to make sure you received your money back.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you will reconsider HotelStorm for future travel needs.

HotelStorm did not send my reservation to the hotel

Booked a hotel through hotelstorm.com and all seemed well. A week, or so later, I received a confirmation email from hotelstorm and saw the charge on my credit card. Arrived at the hotel on the date I booked and they had no record of my reservation. Spent a half hour at the hotel trying to get to the bottom on this and when we got to talk to someone from hotelstorm, they advised there was a technical glitch on their side which prevented the reservation from going through to the hotel. They advised the hotel we were at was sold out and offered to find me a room at another hotel for that same rate, which we did not want as we chose this hotel due to it's specific location. We did receive a refund from hotelstorm and the person I spoke to was very friendly, however I will never use them again and will not recommend them to anyone else. I guess this is why the hotel we tried to book had also never heard of hotelstorm.

Hi Jose,

Thanks for the feedback. We're happy to provide an explanation and clarification. There are times when a hotel cannot be discounted for various reasons, including but not limited to the hotel property not allowing us to sell at a discounted rate. When a discount is not available at a hotel, we do not show it as an option on our partner sites, like T-Mobile. We care about our customers' experience, so we want to show them properties where their discount can be applied directly on our site.

We hope you will take advantage of the great T-Mobile Tuesday deal and save money on your next hotel.
