Don't use their service

Don't use their service. We were charged for the room that was not even used & the refund request was refused.

Thalessa, I don't know how your case ended but I was told by the HotelStorm personal that the cancellation will be proceeded (I was even fine with 25 service charge) and guess what? I received an email on 8/5 that they cannot cancel the room. Really? Our checking in date was 8/4........???? And HotelStorm sends an email on 8/5? We were actually there in town so we could have used that "uncancelled" room we paid for if we were told prior to 8/4. WE WOULD HAVE USED THAT ROOM!!! The HotelStrom should have notified us that the cancellation was unsuccessful.

I called the hotel ifself to see exactly what was going on. The hotel manager told me no proper cancellation was received by the hotel. Of course, the Hotel Storm points finger at the hotel but that totally is not the case. Don't get fooled by what they say. It sounds like they have a line that they always say.

They did not take the responsibility of notifying us when the room was not cancelled until after the trip. Even if they had problem with their supplier (or the mistake is made on their side), you might be responsible for the payment like us. This company definitely does not meet my very minimal expectation of service/responsibility. Once again, when problem arise, they just don't take any responbility but try to give all excuses they can give. I would pay 20-30 more dollars per night to avoid dealing with them. Just an aweful experience dealing with them!!!!!!!!!!!

Listen HotelStorm representatives, angry customers will do anything to tell the world what kind of experience they had with your company. I recommend you taking more time fixing these problems mentioned by reviewers before they occur. Also, be mindful of how you guys deal with your customers when a problem occur. One bad experience is more than enough for a customer to turn his/her back on you guys. Can’t you guys read 50+ negative reviews about your service/experiences dealing with your company?? This probably means something people! I would spend more time making thinga better than leaving replies that still accuse customers.

Charged Twice - Twice

Was charged by HotelStorm and the hotel itself for rooms on two different visits at two different hotels. Can you say SCAM!! Reservations were fine and was charged a MUCH cheaper rate by the hotel than by HotelStorm.

Hi Jennifer,

We sincerely apologize for multiple poor experiences. This issue you described does, unfortunately, occur in the industry though it is rare. It's even more rare that it has happened to you more than once. We regret that you've had this experience.

The cheaper rate that the hotel charged was a net rate. Our rates are from a negotiated prepaid allotment that hotels make available to us. Hotels may sometimes have lowered the direct rate or even increased the direct rate they offer at the time of your check-in, depending on how many rooms they have occupied.

We, again, are very apologetic for the poor experiences.

I booked with a hotel through them for…

I booked with a hotel through them for a month out. There was no small print about the cancellation policy UNTIL AFTER they had already processed my card. I was under the impression that my card would not be charged until I checked in at the hotel. I called the hotel to see what I could do. They told me that since I booked through a 3rd party that I would have to call them but usually what happens is that once they receive the money there’s no way to get it back. So I called hotelstorm directly and the lady on the phone said that it states the policy on the receipt at the bottom. I said yea on the receipt, AFTER charges have gone through and not BEFORE. Now I’m being told that it’s non refundable and IF the refund gets approved, there’s gonna be a$25 charged so im actually gonna get $25 less back than what I originally was charged for. Now I have to wait a couple of business days to get a response. This will be the first and last time that I book with this company. The only reason I did was because it was advertised through my T-Mobile Tuesday’s app. This is a ridiculous way of doing business!

**Updated 8/29: HotelStorm was successful in securing a refund for this customer for a non-refundable reservation. The refund was processed on August 5.**

Hi Thalassa,

We're happy to provide some clarification. On our checkout page, prior to confirming a reservation, every customer is required to check a box accepting the terms of the reservation, which include the cancellation policy also located on the checkout page, just below the check box of acknowledgement.

Additionally, the offer listed in the T-Mobile app has Terms and Conditions in which it states all reservations are pre-paid:

"All reservations are subject to the terms of the property, are pre-paid and may not be able to be refunded, see individual hotels for details."

When a customer wishes to cancel a non-refundable reservation, our customer service agents work with our suppliers and the hotel properties on behalf of our customer. It can take several days to reach a resolution. Because of the time and work required to secure a refund, we charge a small fee of $25 only if we are successful in securing the refund.

We hope this provides more clarification on the cancellation and refund process and policy.

I did not mean to accept the terms of this policy. I wanted to see the totslt charge and taxes and fees are not shown. I immediately tried to cancel the charge and was told I would not be able to cancel and if there was an exception made i would be charged a fee.

Hi Brittany,

We're sorry to hear about your experience. The total amount that is charged to a customer is shown on the payment page. The taxes and fees are shown as a separate line item within the total shown so as to breakout the cost for the hotel versus the T&Fs. We do ask all customers to accept the cancellation policy by reading and checking a box of acknowledgment prior to clicking on the Confirm Reservation button.

Because of the very low rates on hotels, many of the reservations are non-refundable, as indicated on the Property Details page and on the Payment page.

A company with a severe lack of customer support

Here is a company that is unbothered by accepting money from customers without any regard for making clerical issues right in their company. Their website messed up my booking date and what do they do about it? Throw the hotel the reservation is for under the bus. They won't even attempt to help me with changing the date of the reservation or refunding me so I can make a new reservation under them. Complete thievery! I aim to make this post as public as possible to let people know they should never book with such a disgraceful company that just wants to make an income regardless of how it affects the customer. Zero help to the customer and a basic message of "Sorry for your loss, get over it!". How do we allow businesses like this to exist? Take care of your customers unless you want plenty more reviews like this!

Hi Courtney,

Thanks for your feedback and apologies for the confusion. The code that you see in your Virgin Mobile app is an access code to get into the site, not a coupon code to be applied at checkout.

It is marketed in the app saying "Here is Your Code To Access The HotelStorm Booking Site: XXXXXXXXX". When you originate from the app, as you did, you need not enter the code. All of the search results on the site are already discounted, as displayed on the search results with a flag and a strike-through price.

We do offer up to 55% off rooms for Virgin Mobile customers, no coupon code necessary. We hope you'll reconsider booking with HotelStorm for your trip to New Jersey.

The website is misleading and made it seem like parking was free. It listed garage parking as an available amenitie and parking on the main page when it is 18$ per day at the hotel we chose. This should have been specified in the description and the customer service offered no compensation for the 18$ per day parking for a 5 day booking.

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for taking the time to submit feedback. We apologize for any confusion and inconvenience. We source our property descriptions and amenity list from hotel properties directly as well as from third parties and other related booking sites. Parking fees are collected by individual hotel properties, typically at time of check-in, and aren't something we handle at the time of booking.

We again apologize for the confusion and hope you will reconsider HotelStorm for your future travel.

No Integrity Whatsoever

I made a Hong Kong reservation, but was very unfamiliar with the hotels there, as this was my first time. Within hours of doing so, I realized my mistake and called to cancel and book a better place. I explained my mistake and the HotelStorm rep advised that, though it was a non-refundable reservation (not made clear at booking), she would cancel and refund it, with a $15 cancel fee, as long as the hotel did not disagree. I had contacted the hotel, as well, and they emailed me that they had no problem with cancel/refund, it only had to be approved by HotelStorm. Then I received an email from HotelStorm advising the hotel refused to agree!!! I called today to explain to the rep (Diana) that I had written acknowledgment from the hotel that they did not disagree with refunding and they only needed HotelStorm's approval. Diana then said, "oh, then if it is our approval that is needed, we deny it"!!!!!!!! Diana said their notes didn't say what I claimed about the $15 cancel fee and refund if hotel agreed. Then she said something about a recording ---- aha! yes, listen to the telephone recording of when I called -- please. I am absolutely positive of what I was told. So, at this point I have forwarded to HotelStorm the email from the hotel, and Diana is supposed to have the recording listened to. I won't hold my breath. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. THE REPS ARE TRAINED OBVIOUSLY TO PROVIDE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER.

*********************

To the response posted: The point is, you tell me the hotel will not refund and that is why you will not. The hotel, however, advises they have no problem with being refunded, and the decision is yours. So, you are lying in all respects.

Hi Brigitte,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Regarding our cancellation/refund policy, we mark all of our properties with the appropriate tag: Refundable or Non-Refundable throughout the site, starting first on the Details page. Prior to confirming your reservation, you must acknowledge the cancellation policy by reading and checking an 'accept' box.

With regard to the cancelling and getting your money back, with non-refundable bookings, our team works on our customers' behalf to secure a refund and are successful in doing so ~70% of the time. While the hotel may approve the refund, ultimately we must get approval from our supplier through which the booking went through, not simply the hotel. In working on a refund, we work with both the suppliers and hotel properties.

We hope this explanation provides clarity around your experience.

ABSOLUTE CRAP

ABSOLUTE CRAP.

I have never booked with a hotel site that treats their customer like crap.

The guy I spoke with (Steven) sounds like he hates his life.

He was rude to me and kept asking me for proof of a death in my family as that is the reason I could not make my reservation for next month. Who asks for that???? I have booked through expedia, booking, etc, and have NEVER been asked for proof of my grandmother's medical issues as it makes me have to cancel some stuff sometimes.

Steven was extremely rude and hostile towards me and even gave me attitude and talked back to me. He said I needed to 'call hotel and get names of people who said it's OK for me to cancel.' I called the hotel and they were appalled by the fact I had been sent to get 'names' to approve cancellations, and happily gave me their names and told me to tell HotelStorm to call them.

When I called HotelStorm Steven again picked up (hating life as usual) and told me that 'they would email me an update.' I asked when I should expect to hear back and he said he cannot tell me. Absolutely disgusting service, and I work customer service for a living. We have a cancellation policy as well but we NEVER press the issue like Steven did. This is not track record for me to cancel with HotelStorm either.

I refuse to stand by this company. You can find better rates and customer service elsewhere.

Hi Aiko,

Thanks for taking the time to submit feedback. We apologize for the poor experience. We work with suppliers to source available inventory and discounted rates. Because we work with suppliers, we have to go through them to confirm cancellations and refunds instead of the hotels directly. That back and forth can often cause a slight delay in resolution, but rest assured our team is working on each case on the customer's behalf.

We make every effort to help customers in times of family illness and emergency. Our suppliers do normally ask for documents before cancelling, which is why we ask our customers for such documentation.

We again apologize for any inconvenience. We hope you'll reconsider HotelStorm for your future travel.

Terrible

No confirmation page before booking, once you click done they take your money and there is no way to get it back. I figured there would be a way to view your total amount after choosing your dates, nope. I used the wrong card, tried to call them just to change my payment method. They are completely useless when it comes to customer service and probably don't even employee their own people. Typical hotline to India if you need help. Turns out they don't even book their own reservations. They just use priceline to make their reservations, mark up the rate and charge you more for terrible customer service. I found this out when disputing the claim. The bank referred me not to them but rather to another major hotel site that I should of just dealt with from the beginning.

Avoid at all cost, don't fall for the incentives. Do yourself a favor just book the normal way and save yourself the headache.

Hi Darrell,

Apologies for the confusion. All of our reservations are pre-paid and charged at the time of reservation so we don't allow for payment updates. There are a couple of ways to view your total amount: (1) on the payment page where you complete your booking; (2) on the confirmation page as the line "Total Paid;" (3) in the confirmation email as the line "Grand Total" and finally; (4) within your account.

Our customer service team is based in our Headquarters in Chicago, IL.

Our supply comes from multiple different sources, including Priceline, however, we are the Merchant of Record for all transactions that happen on our site.

We hope you'll reconsider HotelStorm for your future travel.

I literally booked through this site to…

I literally booked through this site to stay at T Bar M in New Braunsfels with the family on the weekend of May 26-28, 2018. Being promised a $50 giftcard to Amazon if I did so, turns out when I asked about the card's arrival the management team told me that I had been re-directed to another site at booking. Wow. What a way to steer off and great way of making false advertising. So in the future I will not ever be making any reservations nor recommend anyone use this site, you're better off booking through hotels.com for they at least offer free nights after reaching your 10th stay. Now that is NOT misleading!

Literally the worst form of booking

If I could give hotelstorm less than 1 star i would. I booked on hotelstorm using "Special Military/First Responder program" they offer. The quotes are due to the fact that i called the hotel after making the reservation and they gave me the same prices maybe a little cheaper than hotelstorm was offering without any special promotions. Within hours of booking this reservation i realized i blocked the wrong days on my phone when i booked it and emailed them. They have claim to have a 24 hour turn around on these issues which a "senior manager" We will call Efren would later tell me is not true no matter how many times their email or website says it in the contact us section. After not getting a confirmation email about my new request being received a send another email a few hours later, and just to be extra safe i call hotelstorm the next morning. I was informed "The hotels are probably pretty busy right now so I would just be put on hold so I will call first thing tomorrow" These are the very words of the representative at the company. She's a booking agent who doesn't want to be on hold with anyone... i give her a day to call back hell i give her 3. I don't receive anything so I call back and she tells me she passed the issue onto someone else and they haven't gotten to it yet but she appreciates my patience. I call and email multiple times inbetween and finally 3 days before my check in i get fed up and call back again. She informs me that they contacted the hotel and "Meant to send me an email about it" since the change is so last minute it would be 180$ to bump up my reservation two days. I tell her that it wouldn't have been anywhere near this much if they dealt with the request when i asked.(I know this because i checked rates after realizing my mistake, and contacted the hotel that day who said it wouldn't be a problem but since the reservation is still in Hotelstorms hands theyd have to deal with it) She actually agrees with me... so after being told by reps that they don't want to be on hold and yeah we could've saved you money but that requires us to be more proactive at our jobs i finally get to speak to their boss. You can say the incompetent team doesn't fall far from the tree on this one. He tells me its my fault that they waited so long to contact the hotel because their agreements hold them to no standards in terms of dealing with customer issues. He says the 24hour guarantee is more of a "you may hear from us within 24 hours if we get to it" At this point I'm furious and ask to talk to his boss. He tells me "As a senior manager what i say is what it is and he doesn't have a boss" So Efren senior account manager is apparently as high as hotelstorm chain of command goes. Who in the end blames me for booking with hotelstorm, and tells me that if i wanted i could contact the hotel myself and try and book with them but he will not help out or refund the money i spend hoping to have some quality customer service throughout my experience.

On a side note their response below is a lie. And it took longer than 5 business days, and it doesnt even begin to amend how I was treated by every single one of their employees especially the "senior manager efren" who thought my travel issue was an insignificant laughing matter who literally told me to deal with hotel myself..having an excuse for everything is great but results and owning your screw ups is better.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your feedback and our apologies for your experience. While we don't advertise a 24-hour resolution, we did fail to acknowledge receipt of your request and confirmation that our team was working on it and we deeply regret that. Unfortunately the process to amend an existing reservation can take some time. In this specific case it took 5 business days, which is longer than we would like.

We pride ourselves in the level of service we offer by taking the step to request courtesy waivers to the the agreed to cancellation/change polices, but these do take time and cannot be guaranteed.

We again apologize for your experience and hope you will reconsider using HotelStorm in the future.

DO NOT USE THEM

I recently booked through HotelStorm with their T-Mobile promotion and was not happy at all. If I could give them no stars I would. So we booked our room and once we checked out and received our receipt we discovered we paid $80 more than what we would have if we would have just booked through the hotel themselves. This is very unacceptable they pretty much doubled what the hotel was charging per night, and when I called to tell them that they just told me to call the hotel. Why would I call the hotel when I didnt pay them, I booked through their website. DO NOT USE THEM

I tried to book thru hotel.com a popup took me to your site. I booked and then went to the hotel. No reservation was entered even though I had a e-mail and confirmation number. I called my c/c company, they called you as there was no phone number on any of my paperwork. Your representative said you only booked 24 min. ago you have to wait. I said your site doesn't say that and I book this way all the time with hotel.com with no problem. I asked to cancel and was told no. I told my c/c company to cancel the charge. I re-booked with HolIday Inn Express. Within 10 min. your company called the front desk demanding the booking. They were told no we had already re-booked. You advertized you'd save me $21 on my booking in Tahlequah, OK yet you charged $19.98 in taxes and fees when the Hotel itself charged only $11 and change. Your reviews are terrible and it's no wonder. You still charged my c/c and so I have double charges for one room, one night. I turned you into Life Lock and have disputed your charges with my c/c company. Not to mention your representative was rude and over talked myself and the hotel staff. You won't be in business long with these business practices and I will make sure anyone I know will know about HOTEL STORM. There is absolutely no chance of me paying your bogus charges.

Hi Carol,

Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback and our apologies for any confusion and inconvenience. We regret that your booking was not pushed through to the hotel by the time you arrived and checked-in. Though rare, it can happen when booking on a third-party site. The reservation you made was a non-refundable booking and in order to grant a refund, we are required to try to push the reservation through first. We understand that you were able to get a room directly with the hotel upon arrival and shortly thereafter the reservation was confirmed on our side, leading to the double charge. We are able to see through our records that you did receive the refund on our charge.

We again apologize for the inconvenience and hope you'll reconsider booking with HotelStorm for future travel.

Their policies are very misleading. I booked a room saying that modifications were not possible, so in order to modify a reservation, I had to cancel and re-book. Sounded reasonable. I called to modify my reservation and now they said my reservation is not refundable at all, and therefore I cannot modify without forfeiting my entire hotel cost. If I knew that's what they meant, I would not have booked with them. They saved me like $10. Big whoop. Not worth the hassle.

Promotion through t-mobile was not honored. Sent me confirmation for hotel that I spent the weekend at. Returning home, the hotel charged more than quoted. Hotelstorm said they sent me e-mail that the hotel canceled. I didn't get that e-mail because they sent it to a different e-mail address that I gave them. Funny how the conformation came to my email and cancellation when some where else. I say, scam.
