IMDB is fake, dishonest and corrupt, as others have noted here. They censor reviews arbitrarily, something I've experienced on several occasions. Most recently, I panned the nearly unwatchable 'Nyad' under the headline 'A Narcissist Tells Her Story'. My review appeared for all of one day and then mysteriously vanished. IMDB provided no explanation for this, nor even a notification that they'd censored me.

The film was such an unmitigated turkey that the 7.1 average it has garnered so far has got to be rigged. The positive reviews are mostly poorly written, unpersuasive and inaccurate in their description of the film.

My harshest criticism was directed at Jodie Foster, whom I characterized as an overrated actress with limited range, no discernible sense of humor and no chemistry opposite male leads (hence her career drift into girl buddy films). My suspicion is that some LGBT zealot at IMDB killed my review. They operate like the Stasi.

unbelievable shocked I was left devastated after putting in money from my loyyds account to wise account at end was told after transferring 3,600 pounds told to pay for last ticket which was 4000 pounds before I could withdraw everything showing in the web sight well it’s a big scam. I was left shocked And left to deal with mess with my bank. And now want all to know plz stay away from any business via wats app platform. Specially sending money via wise and other internet banking apps. They will tell you to tik boxes like family n freinds and to lie and say u have met before that way payments get sent to them faster plz b aware cos it’s nasty world and you will b victim of fraud.

IMDb only cares about simping to Amazon for profit. It doesn't care about honesty, truth, justice, and fun. People's reviews get deleted if they go against IMDb's pseudointellectual echo chamber. This happens on Rotten Tomatoes and other websites that have been compromised by profit to create an anti-intellectual echo chamber that removes people's reviews.

IMDB declined my negative review of a show for reason "other". No inappropriate language was used and I made it clear that I watched 90% of the first season before giving up. Apparently, giving certain shows a negative review is not allowed. It is no longer a site that can be trusted, perhaps it never was.

Blocking reviews and wholly subverting them when big daddy tells them (e.g. The Little Mermaid).

Not unlike trustpilot.com.

Let's talk about some of the issues of IMDB. First, it's owned by Amazon. Since Amazon is now a major production company, that's a clear conflict of interest. Moving on...

IMDB is lousy with fake reviews. Especially on amazon properties. Look at the reviews for a floundering amazon show and find many 10/10 reviews from fresh accounts or accounts that only give 10/10 reviews to Amazon shows.

Imdb's rating system is completely biased - implementing a "secret" method of rating films which states that not all ratings are weighed the same - in some cases this means that one negative rating has a much larger effect on the overall rating than 100 positive ones. If you look at the imdb rating there seems to be a clear bias against genre & indie films which generally have a much lower score than any other movies (especially compared to the scores they receive on other sites like Letterboxd and RT).

Most negative reviews are removed without explaination.

IMDB have becom an advertismentnsite for Amazon and is no longer reliable.

As others have mentioned, everything is censored unless you have nothing useful to say. They decline such reviews without any logic (another example of how using automated systems fails spectacularly). No option to contact customer services but instead they seemingly outsource that to their own community, rubbish.

Rampant with censorship against anything even mildly against the message/wokeism.

Every Big studio movie gets protection from bad reviews showing anywhere close in review lists, not only that imdb censorship workers are extremaly quick and trigger happy to remove anything that isn't gushing with praises.

On the other hand fake accounts are everywhere and they are posting their chatGPT-generated 10/10s scot-free immidiately, without undergoing any censor scrutiny.

Look's like it has been said a thousand times before... but if you write a positive review for a movie that you the left says you are not politically allowed to like, your review gets censored.

If you write a negative review about a movie that the left says you are politically not allowed to like, your review gets censored.

If you write a positive review about the original movie that was just "updated" in a political remake, your review gets censored.

They are more censor happy than Rotten Tomatoes.

Basically, at this point every review or score is suspect.

Imdb consistently censors reviews, for reasons that are hard to understand, but ultimately seem commercially driven. I wrote a review on Rings of Power that was censored despite it applauding its diverse cast but criticizing its poor filmmaking. I was also censored on Barbie, maybe because I said its legitimate feminist message was lost in canned monologues. What is imdb protecting its users from? Offensive reviews or reviews that won’t please their sponsors? It seems it’s the latter. Way to break trust with users.

I used to be a regular contributer of reviews. Recently I logged in and an authentication email was sent to the account I joined the site on several years ago and which no longer have acess to. I wrote to the admin and was gruffly told to start a new account so the previous few years I contributed to were an absolute waste of time but a corporate company like this obviously don't care about people volunteering their free time to improve a website
