I rented a car for a week, in February 2026. Both the pick-up and drop-off processes were quite hectic. I returned the vehicle with more petrol than it had when I collected it, yet I was still charged €18 for fuel.

When I asked for evidence, I was told the petrol wasn’t added until the following day. The receipt provided had an incorrect date and the registration number had been overwritten by hand, which raised further concerns.

Overall, I found this company to be untrustworthy and would strongly discourage others from using their services.

I'm extremely disappointed with the service I received from the firm. I booked a guaranteed VW car, but just 2 days before my holiday, I was informed it wasn't available. Given I was busy with a work handover, I had no time to explore alternatives. Instead of offering an upgrade, I was downgraded to a Seat, which wasn't what I wanted. To make matters worse, my family and I had to wait nearly an hour for the car to arrive at malaga airport carpark.

Although car hire out of Alicante is not cheap, any time of year, the security deposit on our rental from Malco Rent A Car was only €100 and reasonable.
In comparison, others wanted €1000+ security deposit, for a similar sized car and with no good reason!
The rep met us at the departure parking area with a fairly new VW Polo which was clean and perfect for our trip. Booked a Polo, received a Polo!
Handover was simple and the quickest I've ever had due to the fact we checked in the rental online, in advance.
The drop off was exactly the same experience. Park in departures, quick check around the car and hand over the keys.
Our deposit was returned the following week, no issues at all.

I can recommend Malco in Alicante and will use them again in future if their prices remain competitive

I was extremely happy with my recent car rental from Malco in Alicante, Spain. They are very professional and helpful. 5 stars is not enough! Got a new clean car, no problems with returning it and deposit returned same day. And they went an ‘extra mile’ to get me sorted

So I booked a car through their website but somehow rather than booking collection from Alicante Airport I by mistake booked Alicante City - it was the only option for Alicante at the time of booking.

As it turned out later, all their cars at the airport were booked out and the website was not very clear about it, unless there was a note in Spanish that I did not understand.

Anyways, after landing I contacted them but I was advised that there was no car for me there because I booked another location. In a couple of minutes Malco organised a ‘rescue mission’ for us. They picked us up from the airport and brought us to the other place where my car was waiting for me. Eduardo could not be more helpful, he explained everything and made sure we would get a lift back to the airport after we returned the car a few days later. All this for free, no additional charge and with a smile on his face.

Amazing service, all the guys who work there are very kind and willing to help if you have a problem and it is not their fault. So 5 stars does not give the justice really, they deserve more! Thank you Malco.

And a note to people using their website: while booking double check the location for a given city, there may be more than one, airport + city.

I have used this company many times with no problems. They are more expensive than some but up to now have been very good.
This last trip I hired a car from Valencia airport . It was extremely hard to get into gear but I thought I would get used to it. I drove to Gandia. I then realised the gears were very poor and the tyres almost bald. I called Malco straight away to explain the car was not fit to drive. I had to drive an hour out of my way to return and change the car. When I returned the car I was not given my full deposit as I had not returned car full. I do not expect to have to pay for fuel for a trip I should not have taken if I had been given a decent car I the first place.
I have written yo Malco but not received a reply.
I do not think this is acceptable and will not be using them again .

I rented a Panda or similar vehicle direct with Malco (Alicante Airport) with full insurance for a 23 days .The car was delivered to the Alicante Airport drop off zone where there is a free 10 minute period which if exceeded can get quite expensive .(more later)
The car delivered was a 5 door Renault Clio Petrol with a high spec. and it was delivered with a full tank the price was a very resonable 248 Euros with an extra 100 euro deposit.
I returned the car with a full tank and the deposit of 100 euros was returned promptly by Malco .There was no problem with the car which had around 31000 KM "on the clock."
The problem in my view which has led to some negative reviews especially regarding returning the vehicle.
I had a constant concern that the car would not be picked up before I arrived at around 10.00 I would have been more concerned if it would have been early morning/late at night.Due to the free 10 min period and high charges if exceeded the agent wants to spend as least time possible in the parking zone. This zone is very busy with drop offs/and parking reps using it. I did call the pick up number 10/15 mins before dropping off the car but still had to wait 20 mins for the agent to arrive. I would pay extra to use the Airports short term parking to reduce the stress levels. (there also appears to be no back up plan if no one shows up to collect the car)
This review would be 5 star if the drop off at Alicante could be "tweaked"

However I would certainly use Malco again especially in Valencia or Castellion where the arrangements are different.

We had a very pleasant experience with Malco Rent a Car.

Even though we had booked a Seat Ibiza, they kindly provided us with the exact car we were hoping for — a brand new VW Polo. The car was in perfect condition and felt practically new, which made our trip even more enjoyable.

The pickup process at the airport was very quick and smooth, with no waiting around or unnecessary paperwork.

We did have a small misunderstanding regarding the invoice, but the team handled it professionally and resolved it in an extremely short time. Their prompt communication and willingness to help really stood out.

I say this from the perspective of a customer who owns a car rental company in Romania, so I truly appreciate when things are done right.

Very good car and good value, delivered to us on time. A small problem when trying to contact by telephone but fine when we switched to WhatsApp. We will definitely use them again.

Absolutely awful experience!!!
Please avoid these cowboys. Flat tyre-small issue and absolutely impossible to resolve. Phone call after phone to various people, no one would help to provide a new car or transport us to get a new car. Really, really bad. You’ve been warned! Full insurance paid for as well. Had to use taxis for the rest of the trip. No refund, still chasing.

The price was good and the car was a new model and very clean inside and out. The deposit was returned within a couple of days.
However, the usp of this company is that you call them in the airport and they bring the car to you within 15 mins. The drop off took 50 minutes from the call.
Again returning the car we called at 6.50am and they turned up at 7.40 which is really disappointing. - luckily we had left enough time but if you are tight for time you may need to choose a different company

Great Service at a good price.
No hidden costs. Car was waiting for us when we arrived quick signing of paperwork and we were off. On return called 15 minutes before we arrived at the airport and a member of staff was waiting. Refueled the car fully so no additional charge. We got the car in Alicante and i Would highly recommend this company.

Always a great experience with Malco, in both Castellon and Valencia. They make the process of renting a car so easy, with no fuss. Fully comprehensive insurance with no excess, just a small refundable deposit for petrol/fines unpaid. Thanks to the Malco team as always!

Great service! Clear terms&conditions, no hidden costs, immediate transfer of the deposit (only the actual costs - fuel, mileage excess - deducted); assistance provided when necessary (very kind and helpful staff), nice, clean cars in good condition (no nasty surprises or annoying technical issues), quick and easy pick-up and drop-off.

Great experience with Malco. Called them when we were collecting our bags and the car was dropped off within 20 minutes. Quick form sign and payment of the hire and deposit, and we were off.

When dropping the car back, we called 15 minutes from Alicante airport whilst filling the car back up with fuel. The man from Malco was waiting for us at the airport and handover was completed in seconds. After that, the deposit was returned to my bank account by the time I woke up the next day. Seamless experience and would 100% use them again.

We recently reserved and fully paid for a VW Caddy Maxi 7-seater from Malco Rent A Car, as we needed the extra space and capacity for a long road trip from Málaga with a lot of luggage and passengers. When we arrived, we were given a standard (short) version Caddy, not the Maxi model we reserved and planned for.
Despite our repeated explanations (and confirming to them that we own a real Caddy Maxi and know the difference), the staff insisted at first that this was the correct car. Only after further insistence and our own evidence, did they admit their mistake – saying the originally reserved vehicle was not available because of an accident, and that they had nothing else larger in their fleet. The only compensation offered was an 8% discount on our rental, amounting to less than €50 – nowhere near enough to cover the inconvenience and extra costs.
Because the car trunk was much smaller than advertised, we had to travel with large luggage wedged between seats and in the passenger compartment, making the road trip extremely uncomfortable and not even completely safe. We asked if there was any way to swap for a larger vehicle, but there was no solution and they confirmed there was simply nothing they could do.
Worse, Malco Rent A Car never proactively told us about the vehicle change. Had we not insisted, we would have been left with the wrong car and no explanation. We even had to consider renting a second car at full price just to make our trip work, with no proper support from their side.
In short, our trip was heavily impacted, our plans were disrupted, and the company took no real responsibility for not delivering the vehicle we reserved. The service was poor, the mistake was theirs, and the compensation was wholly inadequate. Would not recommend Malco Rent A Car to anyone who actually needs to rely on what they book

Malco Alicante - what a shower !! Unlike the superb operation at Valencia these guys are clueless. The cars are good but their collection and return process is laughable … having told them I would be there in 10 minutes they called me repeatedly while I was driving so I had to pull over to answer - they wanted to know where I was . When I arrived they had left as I wasn’t there and as they told me I was earlier than my booking ..,
Inflexible, not clever .., not worth the bother ..
I had a not dissimilar experience on pick up at Alicante in the recent past …perhaps they don’t have enough staff.
Valencia is so good - Alicante needs to study them so they can perform better - they’ve a long way to go to be like the Valencia team.

The 2nd time I've used Malco at Valencia Airport and the experience just gets better! Great with the paperwork and the pick up & drop off just could not be easier.
