Bed frame collapsed after 3 months — poor build quality, severe safety risk

We bought the Birlea Berwick 5' King Size Oak Wooden Bed, delivered end of April 2025. In mid-August, after roughly three and a half months of normal use, the frame completely collapsed at the bottom right-hand fixing simply from sitting down on it. There had been no misuse, no extra weight, nothing out of the ordinary - just normal daily use. Our cat was underneath the bed at the time and narrowly avoided being crushed.

For a solid oak-framed bed, this kind of structural failure after such a short time points to poor build quality at that fixing point, not wear and tear. We've had to sleep on the sofa since, and have now ordered a replacement bed as we can't be without one.

I contacted Mattressman to request a full refund given the severity of the fault and the safety risk involved, and I'm currently awaiting their response. I'll update this review once the matter is resolved.

Very helpful salesperson, easy to lipread and dealt with me with patience.
Quick delivery and men were kind enough to help with carrying the mattress upstairs due to limited mobility.
Mattress is very firm yet light which is pretty helpful when making the bed.

The delivery service by Brandon and Adam this morning was most excellent. They were both on time, on the ball with the old mattress out and the new one in very quick. They obviously enjoy what they do with a smile and happy banter whilst they worked.

This is the second time I have purchased a mattress from here. The whole experience was effortless and quick. Keith the delivery driver was friendly and updated me with delivery time when he was closer. He couldn’t have been more helpful!

The service for buying this item was perfect. On arrival the headboard was broken waiting 2 weeks for replacement. Also the mattress didn’t inflate properly was a problem to replace but the assistant done his best . The delivery was bit of a mix up but hopefully it will arrive sometime today.

Did not know there was a Mattress man show room near me when i found out i did not give it a second thought to go anyware else have purchased mattresses from them in the passed and true to form they did not dissapoint store manager (Ian) what a nice guy helpfull had the time to explain everything to us without trying to sell us the most expensive items and was very good at his job very happy with the mattress we purchased and pillows as well pleased with the price pleased with the quality pleased with everything about the whole buying experience

Delivery company excellent. Mattress man advertise a mattress as soft. Its delivered and it's firm i contacted them next day they are not intrested. Kept saying can't return because of preference. I said I ordered a mattress you describe on you website as soft its not this is very misleading and false advertising. In process of small claims court
