Greasy Money Grubbing Scamsters
Bought a Netgear Extender and used it for 9 months then moved. In attempting to connect it to a new network - was told by the Technician that my Network was "unsecure" therefore I had to buy a techs help to secure it - or the product would not work. Total and complete lie! After I got off the phone - hit the factory reset on the equipment and it worked fine without PAYING NETGEAR for their scam worthy useless "help". Really really scummy
Let there be no misunderstanding
Let there be no misunderstanding, however, I am very clear. There is no such thing as good customer service, or bad customer service, you either get customer service or you don't. I have nothing against anyone. Netgear's customer service for me, every time, I have called, I got someone, seem as tho they were from India. No customer service at all, none, their only objective is to get a payment and money from you. They are rude, just sad, it has cost me over 200.00 to learn the lesson.
Contempt for customers seeking support
I purchased an Orbi system 18 months ago and now need support for dropped signals. I would be willing to pay a modest fee, but Netgear is only willing to help if I purchase a $90 contract that covers systems (eg Windows) that I don't have.
This shows contempt for their customers.
I would avoid Netgear at all costs.
Do not purchase Netgear
Do not purchase Netgear. I cannot explain in words how frustrated I am with their customer service. They force you into a support contract and will not upgrade your firmware purposely to force you into a new support contract. Buy Motorola or anything other than Netgear. I was hung up on and the customer service representative hacked into my computer without authorization and changed our password completely. I have the phone conversations all recorded on my work line and would be more than happy to provide them to the appropriate manager.
DO NOT PURCHASE NETGEAR PRODUCTS
DO NOT PURCHASE NETGEAR PRODUCTS!
Warning - faulty products and no competent technical support!
I purchased nearly $600 worth of "TOP OF THE LINE" Netgear products and my in home WiFi has NEVER BEEN WORSE.
The Router worked for less than 1 whole day before it started rebooting at least once every hour, which interrupts my entire home network for a minimum of 5 minutes.
For clarity, I have Gig Internet through Cox, and the modem reads 900+ speeds consistently.
I previously used the "Cox Whole Home Router/Modem Combo and maintained 200-300 MBPS Download speeds but the range wasn't great. So I "upgraded" to these products;
1. NETGEAR Nighthawk Modem CM2000
$199.99
2. NETGEAR Nighthawk 12-Stream AX12 Wifi 6 Router (RAX120)
$388.97
1st outreach - chat - instructed to persist specific DNS settings. The router rebooted about 13 minutes after that 'fix'.
2nd, I called - instructed to unplug from my standard surge protector and plug it directly into the wall. ???? Did not help in any way shape or form.
Final call - "Update the firmware"... as though I wouldn't have already thought to do this. Anyways - tried again at there behest to find that I had the latest firmware (obviously) so frustrated me hung up and started googling. I found that many others had the same issues - resolution was to disable AX Mode (the primary benefit of this router), I attempted that. Reboots went from once per hour to once every 2-3 hours (still unacceptable) but simultaneously took my 500-600 mbps speeds down to 50-60 mbps.
Final outreach to their team was to ask for a refund. They told me that the 1 year warranty (it's been one freaking week) could not be honored because we have not exhausted all trouble shooting steps... their next words "update the firmware, if that doesn't work factory reset”.
DO NOT BUY!!!
Never buy Netgear!
What a ripoff! My router began to lose the Internet 2 month ago, and on 9/3/21 a flummoxed techie in India (rooster crowing) raced through a "fix" for 90 minutes, overriding Norton and telling me to enter "unsafe" screens (I got a remote sweep from Norton after). At the end of the call I decided to buy a 3-month contract for $49.99. On 9/3 I emailed Netgear to cancel within the 10-day cancel period. On 9/12 and 9/13 I called Netgear, and each rep assured me of a refund. On 9/15 Netgear sent me an email saying it would NOT refund because I used the CONTRACT to get help on 9/3. What?! This is another example of how sleazy and unprofessional Netgear is.
The worst company service
The worst company service. I ordered a hotspot at a reduced price two weeks ago. Should have arrived within 2 days. I have had several frustrating calls with them and Fedex to find it was lost or never sent? Netgear now is asking me to reorder at the higher price, no compensation.

Will never buy one of these pieces of junk ever again. My nighthawk router modem combo lost connection constantly. Especially when it was warmer in the house. Finally sucked it up and went with the cable company rental
Worst Customer Service Department EVER!!!!!
Honestly, Netgear has the worst and most inexperienced department of IT professionals, scratch that; morons, I have ever talked to. Let's start with the fact that their entire customer service department is outsourced to India and the fact that most of these people know nothing about computers, software, networking or even Netgear's own products. I have spoken with 6 different IT reps over the last 5 weeks to resolve an issue with my $500 modem router I purchased and still no resolution. Each conversation last well over an hour because they can't answer any questions without placing you on hold and getting an answer from their supervisor in which they then come back and apologize that they can't help you and tell you that the problem is either ISP or VPN related. Nope, definitely not. VPN worked just fine with old modem router that was not Netgear. Of course since I am now outside my 30 day Amazon return window, I can't return it and Netgear will not refund my money so I am stuck with a modem/router that won't allow me to connect to VPN, but if I disable the router mode then my VPN works just fine. Doing this of course disables my WiFi as well so I have to re-enable and reset my modem router every time I want to connect to VPN and every time I am done so my wiFi works again.
I bought my second Orbi set
I bought my second Orbi set, gave them the same name and password, now we have a huge wifi in and around our home. It works!!!! Thanks!
Absolutely they have to be one of the…
Absolutely they have to be one of the worst company’s in the world, customer support is non-existent, posting this via my cell service because after one hour on hold I gave up and have no internet now, which was perfectly fine until I hooked up there product. Of course there website has plenty pop-ups for ads but nowhere to submit a any comments. I am contacting Best Buy to
tell them I will never do business with them again - until
they drop them as a supplie.
I purchased Netgear's Nighthawl R7000…
I purchased Netgear's Nighthawl R7000 just in May 2020. This device started dropping internet few Months after purchase, right after the 90 days support is over. The phone app is telling me the firmware is up to date but online their website is showing a different firmware. I called the tech support who is asking me to buy technical support without telling me what’s wrong with the devise. This is fairly new device. Not 5 years old or no longer supported. In fact, they are still selling the same device people and others are having the same issue after their 90 days. If it was a defect on this particular device then why others are having the same issue? And, why one have to pay to fix it if it’s a defect? It’s obvious it was set up this way.
Other customers said ‘’the technical support from Netgear is pathetic, unprofessional and fraud. Their team has only one motive: to sell extended warranty (beyond 90 days) and dupe customers. They purposefully create issues and when customers call for help, they force them to buy 3m/6m/1year support at extra cost and fix the issue. This is their game plan and any amount of escalations makes no difference. Sincere advice: avoid buying their products and tech support.’’ This is true and honest statement. I myself regret buying from Netgear and would not recommend anyone falling in the same trap. Call them and check reviews to confirm it yourself.
netgear products and customer service is a joke
I bought a nighthawk c7000v2 modem/router combo and the router part of it delivers slow speeds (25% of what I should get). The modem via ethernet delivers a speed of around 760mps ( I have the 800 mps plan) but the wifi speeds are 220. I called customer support a number of times (over 7 hours of customer support) and the first 5 hours were trying to fix and then they told me it was a faulty unit. So they sent me a new (charging me 20 dollars to send it to me and I would then send mine back) which I received and had the same issue. I called customer service back and I have spent over 2 hours with technicians trying to help me by doing the same steps I have done every time. They told me twice that a higher level technician would call me to help me fix issue and they never called me back. This seems to be a tactic that they are using to not have to deal with me or the issue (that they say they never encountered but if you look online there are plenty of complaints saying the same thing). The customer service is garbage and they try and charge you for every little thing they can. Then you still have the same issue that you started with. This is now my third brand new unit that has the same issue. The last higher level technician I talked to then told me that the c7000v2 unit can only do 300 to 400 mps via wifi. Which is contradictory to the packaging of the unit itself and everything advertised online. They transferred me again and had someone with a horrible phone reception where I could not understand what he was saying. I asked to talk to a manager which he then stated that isn't possible. This company is a complete scam. I have no idea how they are still allowed to operate. I am so frustrated with everything about this company.
BEWARE
BEWARE - customer support is a total sham with scam potential. Bought new AC1000 wifi router to replace a router that had stopped working. Had no problem hooking up the Netgear but it would not read my wifi. Called customer support. 20 minutes later he told me he needed to remotely enter my computer and 'fix' it. I reluctantly agreed. 10 more minutes and he told he could make everything OK but there was a 'small fee'. I told him no and the conversation ended. He never addressed or 'fixed' the problem I called about. TOTAL SHAM- AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Terrible product and support
Nightgear Nighthawk X6 Triband Wifi Mesh Extender: Avoid this expensive mistake. It never worked. Customer support is aware of the problem and did not call back as they had promised. Hours wasted trying to get it to work/ talking with support. Can never get assistance from support. Buy anything else.

Netgear sipping on umbrella drinks…
Three times I called customer service three times I got hung up on. Not because of cussing or being rude. I just called them on their b******* just doing that was a chore. When I called in I received a English-speaking computer directing me to which numeral on the phone I should press. When finally answered by Netgear customer service I could not understand they're broken English. Our conversation took more time trying to understand each other than getting to why I called in the first place. They hung up because apparently that's the thing to do now. There isn't any repercussions. Your best bet is to stay away from Netgear and companies like Netgear who choose to show little or no interest in customer service. Your wallet will be a stepping stone to their happiness not yours!

singapore netgear
to whom it may concern, i engaged netgear for a prestigious project. i created the network design as a subcontractor. i had the support letters and etc. i brought them into my project supply 70 m4300 switches. the main contractor when directly to netgear singapore to purchase the switches even though i had a agreement. i contacted singaport netgear and they replied that they will support him not as much as they will support me. i was thinking what the hecj does that mean. i have emails and proof going back months. they stole my network designs and decided to bypass me. contacted them and multiple times ignored me. do not deal with project with Singapore Netgear as they are money motivated and unprincipled and zero ethics. i further contacted Netgear USA and seems as same as singapore. i hav been purchasing netgear switches for many years and for that project for the POC i purchased directly from them.. they away from Singapore Netgear i rather buy TPLINK or PLanet switches as least they have principles.
