Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 108 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently complained about overpriced games and aging consoles, feeling that the business has become overly greedy. Many people also experienced extremely frustrating issues with unhelpful customer support representatives, poor product durability, and poorly functioning online digital stores. Some people were satisfied with the core entertainment value and fun gameplay, despite the very steep costs of official hardware accessories. A few reviewers remain huge loyal fans who love the nostalgic titles and classic hardware, finding genuine joy in using their favorite portable gaming devices.

Lost everything

I had to give in my Nintendo Switch but the lady told me that I could transfer all my data to another console, today I found out i lost everything, almost seven years of gaming, my first ever game which i finished six times, all gone, for one lady’s incompetency, i’m so Mad and sad, don’t transfer Data, you’ll loose everything. I won’t play nor buy anymore from Nintendo.

Awful site

How can a company that produces such user friendly tech such as the Switch, and the user friendly games to go with, produce possibly the worst website I have ever had the misfortune to have to use. You go around in circles with the most confusing menu system, multiple sites with the same branding but different log ins. This is a site designed for the techs at Nintendo and I doubt has undergone any actual user testing.

Don’t dare forget your password - you’ll be stuck in a never ending loop of unproductive time wasting, unnecessary FAQs that mean nothing and with no result. I JUST WANT TO RESET MY PASSWORD

Won’t repair under warranty - console 9 months old

Returned a switch OLED that was less than a year old for repair. Bought from Very. Sent statement as proof of purchase, clearly details item purchased, price and date. They won’t accept this as proof of purchase and want to charge me for the repair. Won’t be buying Nintendo again. Stick to Xbox, have one 10 years old and still going strong. Substandard product form substandard company. Avoid. Customer support seemed to be reading from a script, unable to help so what’s the point of them being there?

Don't order on Nintendo.de

Placed the order on Nintedo.de for Switch 2. The console arrived a couple of days later than promised and Nintendo Support didn't help to reschedule the delivery date and only replied with message templates - so I decided to return it using the label provided by Nintendo. It's been almost 2 months since Nintendo received the console back but they still haven't refunded and refuse to provide any explanation of the situation whatsoever - again message templates saying that my case has been escalated. Never expected such poor treatment from a company of their level! Won't definitely shop there again!

Old school gamer here

Old school gamer here. I have the funds and play/own pretty much all platforms.
But the litigious “I wanna own all things” via patent has ALL Nintendo products the only ones I am officially never buying again if this is their business practices. (Nor will they be bought/used by anyone in my home).
Creativity and excellence should be the goal, not litigious limitations that require tiered continued paywalls and subscriptions.
The world is plenty expensive enough.

Horrible customer service experience

I had an issue with my No Man's Sky save file. It wouldn't load and kept crashing after I transferred it to Switch 2. I had been playing for years and didn't want to lose many many hours of progress. I called Nintendo customer support after redownloading the game twice and checking for corrupted data didn't solve the problem. I was greeted with very bad English, and the person who answered the support call who knew absolutely nothing about the Switch or Switch 2 or gaming in general. I wasted 30 minutes on the call while I was asked a repeating loop of redundant questions, only to ultimately be told it would have to be sent as a support ticket to someone else. They sent me an email saying they were looking into it, and that I could expect it to be weeks before I got a response. Weeks. Weeks without my favorite game, the one I literally bought the system for. It was absolutely unacceptable and an insult to my intelligence. I wasn't having that, so I solved the issue myself by figuring out I needed to transfer my original save file from the Switch to the Switch 2, and overwriting the file that wouldn't load in the process. Why was I able to figure it out with some trial and error, but they are completely clueless? Seriously Nintendo?? You really need to get some competent people working in your customer service department who actually play, understand, and have knowledge of Nintendo games and systems...and who can speak fluent English, not broken bits of communication. Sourcing your customer service to a foreign country was another slap in your customer's face, along with the continued price gouging. All this makes it tougher to be a Nintendo fan these days

“From Fun to Fear: Over-Broad Patents”

In my opinion, Nintendo has become money-driven and litigation-first. Instead of competing by making great games, the company keeps filing and asserting over-broad gameplay patents. That threatens many systems used across the industry and creates a chilling effect—small studios can’t afford to fight, so creative games may never be made or will be shut down by lawsuits.

I grew up loving Nintendo’s work, but this strategy feels like patent bullying that harms players, developers, and the wider games community. Please focus on innovation, fair competition, and developer-friendly policies—not legal weapons aimed at common mechanics.

Until Nintendo clearly commits to stopping this behavior, I can’t recommend buying their products. Consumers deserve games, not lawsuits.

Worst company in existence

Worst company in existence! Was a fan, now want them gone from existence, they have lived long enough to become a stain on everything the industry used to stand for. Money hungry, garbage peddlers! And those giving them the patents to wage war against competition, just as corrupt as they are! Shame on you!

Nintendo lost the plot

After this constant chasing of pal world and trying to patent game mechanics that you did not pioneer, I will never buy a Nintendo product for myself or another person. I will ensure that at every opportunity, I break or stop being purchased a Nintendo product or title.

Why Nintendo

you can't brake already bought/owned machines like Switch. that is literally insane. I also don't like how I can only own a virtual copy- that's not real owning- there has to be a option to buy games for real.
