A tale of two companies it felt like.

A tale of two companies it felt like, collection of the car from Barcelona was by far the worst experience of any car rental company I have ever used however the return was the polar opposite. Collection occurred around 10pm on a Sunday evening. The lady was abrupt, rude and threatening stating if we didn't sign the blank signature screen pad she would lock the office and leave us stranded on some industrial estate in Barcelona. She seemed annoyed we didn't have Niza Car insurance and when we said it had been booked as a package through easyJet she said she'd never heard of them. She said to video and take pictures of the car before taking it because if there was any damage on return we're not insured with them. We said it's pitch black out there to which she said use a street light. She wouldn't direct us to the car or leave her office to point out existing damage. We felt like getting back on the plane and going home but did what we could to try and find damage, of which there were a number of scrapes and scratches. We then decided to look at other reviews here and were shocked how poor this company was. For two weeks it loomed over us that we'd be in for a battle on returning the vehicle so when the time came we got to Niza Cars 6 hours before our flight in preparation for being delayed by them over damage we hadn't caused. To our shock and delight the lady checking the car in couldn't have been nicer. Everything was smooth, quick and efficient with no detailed inspection under the car or particularly of the bodywork. A quick check to make sure we'd returned it with a full tank and we were taken into the office to cancel our holding payment without fuss. The minibus driver was polite and friendly and quickly had us back at T2 Barcelona. So very much two sides of the same coin but because the initial contact was so terrible and that feeling loomed over us for two weeks a rating of 2 stars seems right. If collection had been the same as drop off there would have been no complaints and 5 stars. Just luck of the draw it seems. I wouldn't use again based on this experience and what others have said here.

Interesting business model

Interesting business model. The reviews on Trustpilot seem to be more consistently bad than on Google. Perhaps Nizacar have paid for positive reviews on Google. Anyway, in line with the 1-star reveiews on Trustpilot, the "business model" of this "company" appears to be as follows:

1. Offer silly prices of around 1-3 euros per day for car hire to draw customers in.

2. Deliberately deceive the customer during collection process by falsely claiming there is no insurance for the car, thereby convincing the customer to pay for an unnecessary reduction in the excess on the fully comprehensive insurance policy Nizacars are legally obliged to provide with the booking. This excess reduction cover increases the booking price by several 1000%, and is what allows Nizacars to make a profit.

3. Asking for the customer's signature on a small LCD screen, and then fraudulently transposing the customer's signature to any/all other documents containing additional terms the customer is unaware of.

4. Only providing a copy of the fraudulently created documents with the transposed copy of the customer's signature, including a "damage report", at the END OF HIRE, rather than at the start.

5. Refusing to carry out damage inspects either at the start of, or the end of hire.

6. If the customer declined the additional insurance cover because they're aware that Nizacars are legally obliged to provide insurance on their cars, and weren't taken in by Nizacar's lies that there is no insurance cover, then Nizacars unfortunately feel compelled to resort to outright criminal fraud to make a profit on the booking. In my case this came in the form of charging 90 euros per day for two days additional hire on a VW POlO in November, despite advertising 1.65 euros per day on their website. Obviously, no hire car company in the world charges 90 euros per day for car hire, except for maybe in Dubai for supercars, and so this is was a punitive rate applied purely to make the booking profitable for Nizacars.

I obviously made it relatively easy for Nizacars to defraud me by extending my hire, but other customers have reported tactics including

a) Charging for pre-existing damage.
b) Actively creating damage after the car was returned.

I would also like to draw people's attention to the fact that Nizacars have been accused of causing customers to get arrested by Spanish police after extending their hire. In my case, I spent several days trying to contact Nizacars to extend my hire due to illness, but they only responded after the hire ended, and threatened to report the car stolen in response to my perfect normal request to extend the hire. One would think Nizacars would have a mechanism for extending hires and not default to police involvement...

I'm personally finding the whole process rather amusing, because the 190 euros Nizacars have stolen from me is well within my means, but I'm finding the process of disputing the amount with them quite entertaining, and I'm looking forward to making an example of them in the Spanish courts, as well as getting the story into the tabloids in the UK who love writing about this kind of company.

BE AWARE OF NIZA CARE LEASE MALAGA

Please avoid leasing a car from Niza car lease at Malaga airport.
My experience was leaving me in a dangerous situation. Oil light was on and strong smell of rubber/ smoke coming out of the front of car.
The Car I leased was in my opinion unsafe and when I complained was told to bring the car back to Malaga depot at the airport which was some distance away from my apartment . Having a young baby I was not prepared to take such a risk !!! No offer was made at that point to pick up the vehicle until the last week of my holiday.
Finally, having paid for a 3 weeks lease and unable to use the car during my holiday the car was picked up on the second last day of my holiday and I was left to pay 90 Euros for the family to return to the airport and fly home.
It completely ruined my family holiday in my opinion this car company are not servicing their cars prior to leasing with a very poor system when complaining .
Be AWARE of NIZA CAR LEASE MALAGA

I strongly advise caution when booking…

I strongly advise caution when booking with NIZACARS.

I prepaid for a 24-day rental car, selected 18:00 as my pick-up time during the booking process at DoYouSpain, and travelled to the rental office of NIZACARS expecting to collect the vehicle. Without any warning or communication, the rental company had cancelled my booking, simply because an automatically changed pick-up time in the system showed 10:30 instead.

When I arrived at 18:00, they refused to give me the car, refused any kind of solution (not even with a fee), and told me the only option was to make a completely new booking at more than double the original price. They kept the full amount I had already paid, leaving me without a car and without support.

No customer should lose their entire booking for a delay of just a few hours – especially on day one of a 24-day reservation!

If this happens to you too, you could:

- Start a chargeback with your bank or debit/credit card provider
- Contact the European Consumer Centre (ECC) for help
- Leave a review to warn other travellers

I am now taking the matter further to recover my money. I hope NIZACARS and DoYouSpain listen to their customers and stop enabling such unfair treatment!

Extra cost for "extraordinary dirt" after normal use

We rented a car on the Costa del Sol to be able to sunbathe and swim during our 11-day vacation.
28-09-2025 to 05-10-2025.
The booking was made through Holiday Autos and Niza Cars, Malaga.
Almost every day we were 2 pensioners on the beaches and had sun loungers and towels to sunbathe on.
Of course we shook our towels before we got into the car but there is always something left that ends up in the trunk.
But we were careful and it was no more than a normal vacuuming that is always done between renters.
Despite this and after we returned the car, we were charged an extra fee because the car had been "extraordinarily dirty"
That is a complete lie and I regret not taking a picture of the trunk or the carpets by the front seat.
There were absolutely no extraordinary amounts of sand after 11 days of use and not any amount that had not been removed in connection with the usual renovation between customer changes.
Niza Cars charged another 100 Euros from my Visa card to clean the car and despite repeated requests and protests, has not refunded the amount.
This is comparable to 50 Euros for cleaning an entire apartment including washing bed linen and towels.
It was a cost included in the contract
Rude Niza Cars!
Beware of Niza Cars' business idea of luring with low prices and then charging hundreds of Euros for "extraordinary" cleaning even if it is just vacuuming after normal use

Honestly these guys feel like cowboys

Honestly these guys feel like cowboys. They constantly suggested they might put fake charges on my account for fake damage, and that they were "letting me off", while in addition having absurdly large charges for any damage if there had been to persuade you to take fully comp insurance. In the end, there were no fake charges or disputes, but it is as if they want the client to feel perpetually stressed and gaslit. There are definitely worse places, but this stress is so unnecessary.

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!!

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!!

!!!! Please read all the reviews on their page !!!— many people, including us, have been scamed by this company. They provide misleading information about the cars and additional charges.

We were told that we should return the car with an empty tank because they planned to sell the cars afterwards. I asked three times to confirm this, and they assured us that we would only be charged 40€ for gas. However, the invoice stated that the 40€ was for a car upgrade we never requested, plus a penalty for an empty tank and refueling fee.

Additionally, I paid 30€ penalty and 90€ for gas. They blocked 150€ from my card as a “guarantee,” claiming it would be fully refunded after returning the car. After returning it, they said the money was not in their account and would be reimbursed later.

To make matters worse, we received the final invoice by email after we left, and it was not signed by me.
Please trust the people here and do not rent from this company! There are plenty of trustworthy companies that can help you. I got scammed — my money was taken But you can avoid wasting your money by choosing a reliable company instead!!!!!

Niza car rental scam

When I arrived at 1 in the morning to collect my car. I had already taken out premium insurance via easyJet but had premium insurance forced upon the lady. I did not take it because I already had premium. They did not take me to look at the car for marks. Once I returned the car I went with the a not nice Women to do the checks. She then told me to go and wait in the office which I felt was a little strange. I want back to check on her after waiting a while for the checks. She then showed me a mark on the rim of the car. I definitely did not hit anything and the mark looked as fresh as can be. I think she keyed the cars rim so that they could put on a charge. I was charged €280 euros for a tiny scratch. Which I repeat I don't think was me. I think they are scamming people due to seeing other reviews. The customers in the mini bus with us on our way to the airport also had been charged €350

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE! Awful scammers.
We picked up car near Barcelona airport, within 30km car began to smoke, we were advised to immediately stop driving and pull over at side of extremely busy highway. Told they would cover the roadside assistance as mechanical fault, told us they would pay for our taxi back to Barcelona. The taxi did not arrive, so we had to arrange our own. Got back to car rental office after around 8 hours of waiting and travelling back to be told again that roadside would be covered by Niza. Got new car and away we went only to be given 390 euro invoice for roadside once car returned. Scammers. Nothing stopping them issuing faulty cars to charge roadside once car returned.

An incredibly expensive and miserable experience.

Nizacars (NZ) are by far the worst car rental business of the many we have used at Malaga airport. The only enthusiasm we experienced was when check-in staff pressurised the upselling of extremely costly extra insurance, and when checking our vehicle for damage on return. Be warned if you don’t buy the extra insurance you are a target. We were charged £527 pounds for barely noticeable scuff marks under a bumper. Any reasonable person can see this is plainly absurd and unjust. There is no right to appeal and this rating is in no way objective or transparent. Looking at published NZ customer reviews it is, arguably, a well practised scam.
Seeking to file a formal complaint, we were informed there isn't a policy or process beyond NZ’s internal mechanism. In effect, NZ are judge, jury, and as the scammed victim, it seems extortioner. No wonder there are so many dreadful reviews.
On that point, it became clear in exchanges with NZ that honest, negative customer reviews don’t worry them. I guess once you have so many bad ones, what difference does another make?
We are left having to pay significant costs, unfairly, and fully dissatisfied. In short, it feels like a scam. We are not alone in reporting this.
Do yourself a favour and avoid NZ like the plague. Go with one of the many other reputable firms at Malaga airport.

The worst experience ever

The worst experience ever, After few days i extended the dates of my rental contract by phone, and without any reason they declared the vehicle stolen, the next morning the police catched me and took me to a prison cell and I get charged for thief, they took my fingerprints and photos, and sent my file to the judge. I came here as tourist and I finally get mistreated by this agency that tried to send me to prison.

Niza cars are scammers

Niza cars are scammers. Be warned if you don’t take out there insurance they will find a way to scam you. Charged me for €340 for some made up superficial scratch that was already there. Even showed me a low resolution photo that could have been from any car. They seem to respond to the bad reviews by saying they can’t find the booking. Absolute fraudsters.

Book with another company. Not trustworthy.

****** DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The prices may seem cheap, but they will try to scam you with hidden extras and false damage claims. It’s better to go with a trustworthy company, even if the price is higher.

We will never book with them again. Very disappointed, and we ended up losing money. ***************

We booked a car online for our trip and paid in advance. On the day we arrived in Málaga, we had to wait a long time to meet someone to get our car, even though many staff members seemed to be available.

Eventually, we were assisted by a man who had a strange and arrogant attitude throughout the entire interaction. He presented us with three payment options, without ever mentioning the one we had already chosen and paid for online. We selected one of the options he gave us. He handed us the key but never came to check the car for existing damage with us, nor did he provide any documentation regarding prior damages (which they will ask if you checked). We took a video of the car ourselves to be safe.

We returned the car on September 10. At that time, we asked the same man (with the same arrogant attitude) about the reimbursement for the payment we had made online. He claimed that the option we chose was an extra and not a separate payment — which was untrue, as he had never mentioned our original booking or discussed our initial payment with us. We didn’t insist, as it was clear nothing would change, and we didn’t want to waste more time.

As we were leaving, we saw an employee get into the car to check that everything was in order. On September 10, we received an email confirming that the car was returned in good condition. On September 11, our deposit was refunded to our account, then taken back.

On September 12, the company sent us a new email claiming the car had damage.

Very poor customer service and will try to upsell.

In the past 3 weeks I have hired a car, then had to return to hire one for longer. Today I returned the second car.

I paid more than I was expecting due to ‘essential insurance cover’ when I told them I had taken out additional cover (at the advice of friends in Spain) it seemed to not matter to them. Obviously, they wanted me to take out their insurance.

Aside from that, it’s was great having a car and the car ran perfectly.

My biggest complaint though is the ‘Customer Service’ or lack of it. Unless you are quite brash and demand attention, you can stand in a queue or right at the door to the office, you will get totally ignored! This has gapped every time. No ine acknowledges you. I had to ask ‘can someone please check me in?’
Rude,
