Not happy.
I recently paid privately to have Spinal Nerve Block injections, left side. I cannot really fault the consultant who explained all that he was going to do and what to expect going forward. The admission, the room and the catering staff were excellent. However my aftercare by the nursing staff left much to be desired and I felt very let down. Following the procedure I was taken back to my room and left in bed to recover. A nurse came in some time later to check how I was and instructed me not to get out of bed without pressing the buzzer to summon her. When I needed the bathroom I pressed the buzzer. The nurse sat on a chair facing where I was getting out of bed. I slid off the bed to the floor but as soon as my left leg touched the floor there was just nothing there, as if my leg would not function, and I collapsed to the floor banging my left knee quite badly. I immediately had a large bruise to the right side of my knee. She hoisted me back onto the bed and once I had recovered from the shock she helped me back into bed and told me to wait an hour before trying again. Meanwhile I was given lunch and a drink. She returned whilst I was eating and said to buzz when I wanted to try again. I then became quite desperate for the toilet so pressed the buzzer again. This time two different nurses came and when I said I needed the bathroom they said ok to get out of bed. I asked if they would hold on to me, they said no I must do it myself. I said I was scared as I might fall again. They looked confused and asked if I had already fallen once - I said yes and showed them the bruise. One was then looking in my notes/folder and said there was nothing in there but they would ask the nurse who had been looking after me earlier. They then stood close whilst I got out of bed but as soon as I put my left leg to the floor again, holding onto the bed I could tell it was not going to bear any weight and said so. They then brought a commode for me and afterwards helped me back to bed. Later I managed to go the bathroom holding onto furniture and walls etc but my leg still felt very weak. Later again a nurse came and asked if I wanted to go home and as I could manage to walk as long as I was holding onto furniture or walls etc. she was satisfied and went to get my discharge papers and a wheelchair as she said it was a long walk to the car park. Once in the car park the wheelchair was placed next to the passenger door and I was left to get into the car myself. I stood gingerly out of the wheelchair and then as I lifted my right leg to step into the car my left leg could not take my weight and I fell to the floor again, this time with my foot curled underneath me injuring my foot. I was helped into the car by my husband and the nurse who said she thought maybe I should go back inside and go home later. I said I wanted to go home. Once home and limping into the house with my husbands help I realised how painful my foot was. Luckily it was not swollen or red or angry looking so I decided nothing was broken but was not happy that I came home with more injuries than I went in with. Now resting at home I began to read through all the discharge information. There quite clearly it tells me that if I have had more than one injection (I had 2) to be careful trying to walk initially after the procedure as my leg/s could be numb for some time! Why was I not warned of this beforehand instead of letting me fall twice and then having to read this once home? It is now almost two weeks later and my foot is still not quite pain free although almost better and the many shades of purple have mostly subsided. My knee is multiple shades of purple although has not been painful for me to walk. The nurse told me to take paracetamol for a 2 or 3 days then stop all pain relief. Then when you read the discharge information leaflet it says to continue taking all pain relief until you are feeling the benefit of the injections as it can take up to 3 weeks for them to take effect. Also since my consultant is "hopeful I will get 50% pain relief" from the injections as there is one area that is too narrow to be injected, I am continuing to take the pain relief until I feel better or until I have my follow up with the consultant. All in all I am very disappointed that I paid an awful lot of money to be allowed to fall twice and come home significantly injured and that I was not given the information to prevent, or at least be aware of this, before it happened and the conflicting information regarding the pain relief.

Borderline Medical Negligence.
Problematic from start to finish. Despite performing every single step they demanded of me to activate my private cover, they failed to admit me as insured and invoiced me anyway. They then got the name of the consultant on the invoice wrong (worryingly) which meant that when the invoice was finally resolved by the insurance company, they rejected it anyway.
They went on to demand I pay up front for appointments, like some panel beater, and only offered an apology AFTER my insurer AXA instructed them to stop harassing me.
Despite me getting email confirmation that my NHS records were onboarded, this was clearly not the case because they used cholesterol figures that were not mine, resulting in a program to reduce my values when my own values are already the target value. Very confusing.
The cardiologist then asked me to fit a medical device, which of course I did not question, only to learn that it was the same device they fitted 2 weeks before, and had LOST the records. Reception actually argued with me and were making stuff up about relationships with Exeter (?) which was clearly a lie. Only to apologise when another member of staff found the record when I walked them back into the same room I had been in before!
Imagine that! Relying on the patient to locate medical records, never mind providing advice on records which did not belong to me.
The whole thing has been a shambles. Nobody wants to take ownership, one blames the NHS, the other the consultants, the other the NHS hospital, all while quite happy to raise invoices and send letters of demand for settlement, all build around records which do not exist, or they later go on to apologise for as lost.
I have ZERO confidence in them as an organisation as they have repeatedly offered apologies in writing. Large medical organisations don't apologise in writing when they get it right.
They are certainly sympathetic but the whole system has done very little to make me believe they have any capacity to manage even the most basic tasks. Avoid. Your life may depend on it.
I would be THRILLED to provide the email and documentary evidence I have if anyone is in any doubt.
I was promised a call today by the director of medicine, and you will not be surprised to learn it has been complete silence.

Excellent care
From the minute I stepped in the door the two Receptionists couldn't have been more welcoming!
Adrian and Dean who looked after me on the ward were excellent and made me feel at ease before my procedure. Everyone was just so friendly and caring.
Warning to anyone who lodges a bank…
Warning to anyone who lodges a bank card with them.
Would give no stars if I could.
Really distressful & terrible experience received by Finance team at their central office. They took 2 payments from my bank account for nearly £400 instead of one. Both went into pending & threw me into overdraft. Reported this immediately & asked them to reverse 1 pending transaction. They refused to contact the bank & request a pending release. Said they could not write an email. I requested that they refund one payment that had cleared & I would pay by bank transfer when the pending one was released after 7 working days by my bank. Refused to do this also.
This is a situation they have caused & they completely refuse to understand the position they have financially left me in.
There attitude throughout has been one of carn’t do & obstructive.
Never again will I lodge my card details with Nuffield Health as there attitude when they make a mistake is appalling & obstructive.
I note the response from Nuffield health & their apologies. They still have not however offered any resolution to this problem & I am still suffering financially as the amount has not yet been removed from my account, This is not what ai would have expected from a noteable Company.

Just joined the Purley branch, cancelled the same week , very rude staff , I was not allowed into the building 35 minutes before closing; my weight routine is 20 minutes; if you are a busy working person and get to the gym at 9:25 heating 20 minutes of gym no chance , their rude staff will not let you in

VERY BADLY MANAGED!
I am just in utter shock at how badly Nuffield health is managed. I am being harrased by Nuffield for £49 (That I paid 2.5 years ago) but their finance department is so badly managed they cannot "find" the payment. As such I am being harrased by Nuffield health for £49 that I paid 2.5 years ago every few months. I provide all the details when chased, the issue goes away... 4 months later I get chased again for the same payment outstanding. I go through the whole process again of providing the information from 2.5 years ago... The issue goes away, then a few months later... yes correct they are chasing me again. Absolutely appaling and my advice to anyone is stay clear from this company, VERY BADLY MANAGED! I have dealt with the Customer Relations team for months, have logged 2 compliants and still the issue does not get resolved. Just dealing with utter incompetence at every turn!

Joint Pain Programme
I am attending the Joint Pain Classes at Northampton and have already built confidence in doing the different exercises week-on-week. Whilst I still experience some pain, Fin has encouraged us each to work at our own levels and will adapt exercises so that we can build up gradually. I would highly recommend this programme and am really grateful to be able to access it for free making it accessible for all. The whole gym is really friendly and welcoming.

Joint Pain Management…
I attended the Joint Pain Management course (Nottingham). Working with a trainer was an interesting experience and introduced other ways of exercising and managing joint pain. Working between class exercise and the gym apparatus offered a different way of building strength. It also built confidence in being able to go it alone. Very grateful for all the help and support given by Marina. L.W

I had a lovely lava shell and scalp massage at the Chafford Hundred site with Daisy on the 9th September.
I had recently lost my Father and I was a bit emotional in the massage, Daisy was absolutely amazing at comforting and speaking with me , I went from feeling teary and heavy to having a smile and leaving feeling very relaxed and well looked after. Daisy was an absolute star and her massage technique was very relaxing.

I had HOLEP prostate surgery at the Nuffield Brighton. My surgery went extremely well and I would like to say a big thank to all the staff for looking after me so well. The hospital was extremely clean, the staff were all very attentive and caring and the food was also very good. A special thank you to my consultant Mr Symes for his professionalism and caring approach to achieving a positive surgical outcome for me. Would highly recommend.
