Age discrimination by OUTsurance ?
Year #1, took my business. When I went to renew same car insurance....they whacked an 18% INCREASE in my annual premium. This is despite the fact that during the 12 month, the car (obviously) had depreciated in value, no claims, and no penalty points....not even a parking ticket. 18% increase reflects Outsurance getting theit 10% 'refund' back, covers the <4% inflation rate, and gives then an additional 4+% bonus for no additional risk. When I asked their rep. to explain/justify, he had no answer. When I suggested it was age loading (having turned 65) he didn't deny it. Perhaps the ombudsman needs to investigate if there's age discrimination going on at OUTsurance ? Health insurance companies are prevented from behaving in this manner - maybe motor/home insurance providers need the same regulation ?
