We visited West Mersea Touring park in a motorhome. Although the location is great the facilities are sadly lacking, and have been for too many years now.
The toilet and shower block is a 7/8 minute walk away (in the static home park) and are in dire need of an upgrade.
Thankfully you can use the toilets in the clubhouse when it's open but we would visit more often if the main facilities were improved.

Alberta holiday park

We stayed in kent, alberta holiday village. When we arrived the caravan hadn't been cleaned and beds weren't made, but within seconds after going to the reception, 2 lovely staff members came and corrected everything. They even offered us a drink. We stayed here for a week. Lovely pool and a nice walk to whitstable. Only downside is that on peak days there is hardly any parking. Would recommend this park!

Lovely small site

Lovely small site with pleasant and helpful staff. Everything clean..pool was a little cold...but is outside. When we went..although having a lovely stay..there wasn't entertainment or food everyday. So lovely that the beach is opposite and also a coop and chippy next door.
Thank you

Pakefield, Suffolk - Caravan C2

We stayed at Pakefield, Suffolk in Caravan C2. Do not accept this caravan until you have asked whether the ant infestation they have is gone, we had this problem throughout our stay. Evidence of ant powder was around the outside of the caravan, when we disclosed the issue with reception they stated they didn't know about it. Stronger powder was put down, however, this did not deter the ants.

Please, also ask whether the caravan has been pressure washed as upon our arrival almost all  windows were covered in bird faeces. We understand that as we were in a seaside town this is inevitable but not to the extent we were greeted with.
The panel around the front door was hanging off, this was a big safety concern for us as we were holidaying with a 14 month old baby [the campsite was aware of this] who had started walking prior to our trip. It was taken off by staff which we appreciated but they commented all caravans were like this, please bare this in mind when booking with Pakefield if you have an infant within your party. We did appreciate that we were given a stair gate for free, we were told you would usually have to pay extra for this.

There were other issues too such as having to descale the kettle and clean out the fridge as this was unclean, the toaster also wasn't usable either, but the issues mentioned at the beginning of the review were our major concerns.

The staff were helpful and pool was a good standard. Kids enjoyed the arcade, park and shop. Only thing that ruined it was other residents being very loud into the early hours, screaming and fighting. Staff did not intervene to stop it. We left a day early as we needed some peace.

Lovely caravan but the site is mostly owner occupied. The clubhouse is a bit clicky as everyone knows each other and we were surprised to see that vaping is allowed in there. More caravans on the site now so much more traffic on the narrow, once quiet roads around the site including cars, food delivery vans and electric scooters. Busier and noisier than in previous years but still a very nice area with the nature reserve on the doorstep

We hired a gold* caravan

We hired a gold* caravan, but discovered it wasn’t as good as it could have been. To compare with Haven caravans this “gold*” was the equivalent of a bronze in Haven. Small tv in front room and no side lights in the master bedroom.

Comfortable and well equipped caravan

Comfortable and well equipped caravan. The staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed on the golden sands holiday park in Dawlish Warren which was clean and well maintained and within easy reach of the beach. I would recommend staying there for couples and families.

Bring back the old Harts, which was great value for large families

It’s a nice place if you have local friends to hang out with. The described ‘Gold’ caravans come with no patio or balcony and it’s the middle of the standard caravans (disappointing). Caravan was clean and modern which was a bonus. The price of food and drinks on Harts site is crazy £5.10 for a pint of coke, £2.90 for a Capri sun /£4 for a medium bag of popcorn and £15-20 for a basic meal.. Crazy expensive and needs to change to keep families coming. The swimming pool booking system needs to be changed, have to turn up at 9am the day before to book for following day. Once spaces are gone then that’s it.
The strip with arcades/cafes/ice cream/park/mini golf and the beach at the end is very nice. Very relaxing. The Sorbetto coffee for £1 and loaded doughnuts £6 is great value for money.
Over all Harts holiday park isn’t great value for money and if you have multiple kids will cost a bomb in the evenings. Park Holidays have ruined Harts!

We stayed at Golden Sands in Dawlish…

We stayed at Golden Sands in Dawlish Warren and we had a nice enough time but won’t be staying again. The caravans were packed in very close together (so much so that you can’t really use the outdoor space socially at all). The caravans were very good inside, but it was hard to park near to our caravan due to the way they’d stacked them so closely together.
The nearby beach was absolutely gorgeous and made up for the fact you had to pre book the on-site pool (only allowed for 1 x 50 minute session per day) and it was quite a small pool, so felt incredibly crammed in there. The woman on reception with a blonde bob was also very rude and waspish on every encounter we had with her, which made pool booking quite unpleasant.
The playground was excellent, and there was a good laundrette. Caravans would benefit from having an additional window drying rack, and the ability to borrow a vacuum cleaner (because the ants are everywhere). Honestly I’d book elsewhere if you are contemplating booking.

A nice park let down by issues

Stowford farm is a beautiful holiday park it was everything we were looking for, quiet and peaceful. The caravan was beautiful but let down by a few things, the plates were put away greasy so I had to wash them before we used them, the sheets on the bed didn’t fit the bed, a fitted sheet would be a much better option than the flat sheet used. There wasn’t enough sheet to tuck in so one of us ended up sleeping on the waterproof mattress which isn’t hygienic or comfortable when it’s hot. The curtains throughout the caravan are for decorative purposes only as they keep no light out. Black out blinds or curtains are definitely needed in the bedrooms, I don’t go on holiday to wake up at dawn every morning stuck to a mattress!
Staff seem to be too busy for customers, I walked into reception and the lady was sorting out check in packs but she turned round saw me and carried on with what she was doing, she then answered the phone and buzzed in a delivery driver before she even acknowledged I was there. A simple ‘I’ll be with you in a minute’ is all it takes to feel like you’ve been seen.
We woke up one morning to a police helicopter and a drone overhead and a police dog handler in the area behind our deck. We then walked the dog around the site and went into the toilet block where armed police came through complete with rifles which as you can imagine is very alarming and worrying. The armed police and dog handlers were on site until late into the evening but all we were told by staff was ‘there’s no threat to you you’re all ok’ I understand staff don’t want to cause panic or alarm but telling guests they are perfectly safe when armed police are patrolling the park is like telling an arsonist not to worry about the smell of smoke!
We ate in the restaurant once and while some of the meals were ok I ordered a fishfinger baguette which was actually a small bake at home finger roll with one fishfinger in it - no salad no tartare sauce just that for £9!!!
It’s a shame because I really do like the park but for the reasons mentioned I wouldn’t return. The caravan cost over £1000 for the week and for that I expect to feel both comfortable and more importantly safe and I didn’t.

Amazing

Booked our break the day before we went hadn't used park holidays before
Wow!! The park itself was amazing so clean, tidy & quiet
The caravan was lovely (gold) I liked how the caravans weren't rammed together like other places you also had enough space for chairs etc without being disturbed
I would say you need transport as site is pretty much away from everything but if you want peace & quiet after exploring all day then this place is for you
Staff very friendly & professional
The only thing I will say is make sure you have everything you need as there is no shop on site
5* from me would definitely recommend

Has its faults, good value for money but could do better.

We stayed at Coghurt Hall,a really good spot just off the A 21.The staff were helpful and attentive. The van was clean and cool. It was shaded by one of the lovely trees that cover the site.
However, the site is very full,it could do with losing some of the caravans. At the moment it looks a bit out of control.
The WiFi does not work, the last time we stayed we brought the WiFi it did not work. This time we topped up our data but it still didn't work. The TV had poor sound quality and no subtitles.
The swimming pool is odd and can't really cope. This area would make a great spar.
We chose the site because it's close to Hastings and the National Trust sites off of the A21.It has its faults and it could be so much better.
