Patreon and its relationship with Stripe have been a nightmare. On my end, I changed banks and forgot to update my payout account. I tried to update it and didn't have the old account number.

It's been a customer service AI nightmare. They catch you in an AI loop and neither company customer service departments have responded with any way to fix the issue all the while they are sitting on my money.

I'm now five days into it and Stripe says my account doesn't exist, despite paying me for over three years and Patreon keeps saying contact Stripe.

Patreon has over 500.00 of my money and not one human being has contacted me with a remedy.

I'm trying to figure out where to move my client base and videos while I'm still not getting my payouts.

I created a patreon account maybe 2 weeks ago or 3 trying to get donations from my followers on snap. On snap I provided IRL stuff like nature, cooking LIKE AS SFW YOU CAN GET! There was nothing wrong about it nothing that is off about it as well. NOW LISTEN CAREFULLY

After my initial for a withdrawal they locked it and asked to verify where my patrons come from and my ID, me holding my ID etc etc... I did everything as said provided as much proof as needed and I sent it

On Sunday 3rd of August I get suspended for suspicious activity (I didnt receive a single payment or even logged in my account for 2 days). So I appeal that and sent out an email etc so after a day, on Monday 4th of August I get an email saying that I am banned and there is no way to appeal (even though there is). I am indefinitely banned nothing to do about it all the money refunded to the customers, patrons (still a lie nothing refunded since that day not even $8) I appeal the ban because by their ToS it is allowed but in the email they say they dont allow it "LMAO" and they tell me that they cant give me a reason for the ban and that my account will be removed and that appeal is not applicable

By the way you can check GDPR (Data Protection from Ireland) and by law they HAVE TO GIVE YOU A LAWFUL REASON OF YOUR BAN! They just say "At this time we cant give you a reason for the ban blah blah blah" But lawfully they will need to do it. So search up GDPR and send them a GDPR request directly so you can start a lawsuit because I am starting one

I lost $1400 IN DONATIONS JUST LIKE THAT AND NOTHING HAS EVEN BEEN REFUNDED! THIEVES

You will see me on their social media as soon as you see this review you will see on their IG, Discord, Twitter anywhere you'd like you will see me with proof. I wont stop doing this.

I so wanted to signup today but after reading all these negative feedbacks, i am shocked - i nearly fell for Patreon. But why scam? why can't you make this work?

Simply wanted to set up an account as a member to pay a creator. Instantly suspended due to security concerns??? Emailed and sent the requested details, 8 days later no response.

Having seen the reviews here, how does this entity still exist?

I set up my Membership levels without a problem but Patreon set my account to Adult+18 which triggered an Age Verification. OK, no problem I have a TSA approved state driver's license. They took the images and then said they could not confirm my identity! No method was offered to submit other identification, they suspended my account and could not publish for my members. When they realized the mistake, they took off the Adult+18 and said all was good. It wasn't, my account remains suspended days later and they have not responded to multiple requests. Add that you CANNOT call them, they do not provide support over the phone.

Confusing and misleading payment terms. I pay for a subscription and services were not provided. I get charged THREE TIMES within one month for 1 subscription.

Customer service team is absolutely careless, does not address the issue and keeps mentioning "strict refund policy".

I did not get what I was promised and what I paid for. I am disputing with the bank for a credit card chargeback.

recently, I consider giving up patreon not only I never got enough views and click to get even any pennies from Patreon.

it's misused by people that make money with AI-generated slop. and even before Generative AI are come along it's also misused by people that selling fanarts for money(making fanarts more of copyright infringement than even it is)

I was more than happy with the service when I received it, however, when I cancelled and closed the account, Pateron continued to charge me for the next 5 months. I was receiving no service. Each month they said they had fixed the problem and I would not continue to be charged and each month I was. In the end I had to get the bank to stop the payment but they still stole $50.

Patreon’s billing system feels like a scam. I cancelled my membership, yet charges kept coming every month. When I asked why, support claimed there was another subscription tied to my payment details — one I never signed up for or even had access to.

Instead of fixing it quickly, they dragged me through weeks of back‑and‑forth emails, kept asking for the same evidence, and still refused to refund the extra charges. Their explanations made no sense and gave me zero confidence that my payment info was safe.

This experience shows Patreon can charge you without consent and leave you chasing your own money. Think twice before trusting them with your card details.

Patreon’s service has been terrible and exhausting. I cancelled my membership in Feb 2025, but they kept charging me for 5 months for nothing. Later, they claimed my card was linked to a “ghost account” with an email I’ve never owned — likely tied to their Telegram subscription link — which caused double billing.

For months, support kept asking me for more and more “evidence,” even after I had already sent bank statements, approval codes, and screenshots. Their replies were slow and contradictory. Eventually, they admitted the ghost account existed and deleted it — but still refused to refund me. Now there is no response at all.

This entire process has been torture. Patreon charges you for accounts you don’t know exist, offers no protection for customers, and leaves you to chase after your own money. Feels like a scam — check your statements carefully if you ever use Patreon.

I couldn't have had a worse experience. They didn't want to solve my problem with redeeming a voucher at all, and their AI support bot just kept repeating itself. I didn't feel like they wanted to help me at all. I won't be using it again.

I had no idea that I even had an account for this website, I must of clicked someone on tik tok and I have followed her through there. They tried taking money three times out of my account. I never even paid for a subscription and when I look at my subscription I haven't got any. Does anyone know how to stop any more money coming out of my account. Is it best if I delete my account?

I don't understand why any creator would use this company, or any subscriber would do it. I will never use Patreon ever again. Absolutely useless customer service. No refund despite being within my UK legal rights and outright dismissal. Avoid. Find alternatives.

The worst customer service, I wish I had read these reviews before paying.

An payment was charged to me early (I was planning on cancelling), through a technical fault of their site.

I requested a refund and they tried to bin me off onto the creator. I reaffirmed that this is a fault of Patreon, not the creator, and they apologised and sent a "refund request" to another team member.

I was sent a templated rejection email which just referred to their "refund policy", a technical fault is in their refund policy, but now they've just ghosted me.

Paid my subscription of £7.80 and had access to my account for one day!! It’s a shame i had to give one star as Im still chasing a refund!

Whilst in principle of the business is excellent however the delivery mechanism is overly complicated and poor! As for customer service it does not exist!!

For creators and my case guitar tuition their really has to be a better way to sell you service/product/ knowledge!

Purchased an annual subscription for Excessive Hoocho tier as that tier included "Have Hoocho answer your personal questions about anything relevant to the channel." After very slow response time to 2 questions I asked for a 2nd time for a refund.
He states that no tier includes communication as a part of the tier. Ignoring the screenshot showing the benifet mentioned above. He told my carer that I joined for the 3d files and not communication even though I specifically stated before he 1st responded that asking him questions was the 'only' reason I joined as I never received a response from him from the years of question through Facebook groups and YouTube, and that I thought this must the the only way.
He told my carer that he only responded out of politeness as it was a simple enough question.
He says its Patreon's problem and Patreon says that it's at the content creator's 'Hoocho) discretion for a refund. Hoocho has thousands of paying patreons and all I was asking was have 11 of the 12 months refunded as it still has not been a month.
My carer was polite to Hoocho and in return Hoocho was defensive and rude.
All Hoocho followers, you are just a dollar sign to him. I am down $469.80 for a service I am not receiving.
If I had an interest in the 3d files his $7AUD per month tier or $75.60 annual discount price covers that.
He also has a Hoochoverload tier @$430.50 ΑUD per month or annual discount of $4,649.40 that offers the same benifets as the tier I chose.
This can been seen via the Android Patreon app, I have since found post purchase that the Web version does not show these benifets. I only used the app version and didn't know that, yet Hoocho refuses to acknowledge that the Patreons app includes these benifets.
I will not be using Patreon again, and have unsubscribed from Hoochos youtube channel.

I would award zero stars if it were an option. Awful customer service. Paid for membership but able to access members only content for just 1 day. Completed their online help request 4 times. Received a generic email response requesting more details which I provided each time then got radio silence. So if you wanted to give your money away for free, sign up with Patreon!

Deleted my account without warning after a year of no problem. Claimed that some of my art went against TOS. To keep it quick and pc, the works they chose weren't that bad comparatively. The next day, they emailed me to edit a different work to fit TOS. I don't have an account. Clearly, it's a mess over there at HQ, and it reflects.

I think they were just targeting me after I lowered my membership cost because all of this happened a day after I did. Never trust them.

They are happy to take money, but when it comes to payout for them, problems get started. I experienced at least half of the problems that other people shared here and on Reddit.
