Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it difficult to contact and often receiving unhelpful responses from staff. Customers frequently encountered issues with their points not being added correctly, and found the retail offers to be limited or irrelevant to their needs. Some people were dissatisfied with the product offerings, noting that many promotions focused on junk food rather than daily essentials. However, a few other people also felt that the company showed willingness to fix faulty situations, and some even had positive experiences with specific customer service representatives who were patient and helpful.

Did not receive points for purchases…

Did not receive points for purchases over one month. Impossible points inquiry.
I refuse to spend time on the phone re this. ….so the program is a great scam dressed up as a benefit.
You thought price fixing was bad enough!

Watch your account. You could be next.

Edit as of January 14th
They reactivated my account, and I quickly spent 220k points, because I KNEW they were about to do something stupid. Sure enough, they deactivated my card, taking over 8000 points in the process, and gave me a new account number for a card I've never received. Looks like it must have occurred sometime just after my initial review on trustpilot. Just glad I spent all those points first. Thanks for the $300 worth of free product, Shoppers! I'll now try and shop literally ANYWHERE ELSE.

Everything you read in these reviews is true. And I encourage you to have a look at the reviews on the BBB site. This program is an absolute scam. If you're having issues with your PC Optimum points/account, attempt resolution with customer service once or twice (I say attempt because it will amount to nothing and get you nowhere), and then report them to the BBB. The customer service reps aren't helping you. They're helping the company by acting as roadblocks. You're not speaking to anyone with any actual knowledge or power. They are incapable of actually making anything happen. It's just above the equivalent of talking to the cashier at your local Shoppers. And that's on purpose, because communication with anyone who can exact any sort of actual change appears to not only be impossible for the consumer, but also the reps answering the phone. Why? Because the majority of complaints look to be the same: locked accounts with no resolution, points missing/not awarded after purchases, and offers arbitrarily removed from whomever Loblaws chooses that day. All issues that affect the bottom line for the company. Wouldn't want too many people getting anything for "free", now would we? The emails claiming resolution that you will inevitably receive, are typically flat out lies. That phone call that took an hour of your life to make? It did absolutely nothing. Seriously. Just report them and call it a day.

Not worth having it

If I could, I would give them zero stars! This is my third time setting up an account for PC optimum and my last time doing it! First two times, it locked me out of my account and I had quite a lot points there, they’re all gone now, third time I was using PC optimum card several times and interesting thing-it says I have almost 10,000 points but when I go in my account there is zero, every time I scanned it for nothing!! And now there is some technical problem on their end, can’t even go in my account, like this is so stupid and worthless of having and using so I’m done with them forever! And I can see by reading other reviews, some people had a same problem when tried to use those points. Such a waste of time!! Complete bullsh***t!!

Reprehensible CS experience

Optimum will gaslight you on their rules to avoid paying any amount of money they owe you, even if you provide them with photographic evidence of receipts. Their customer support team doesn't take notes and ignores attachments because they're trying to get rid of you as fast as possible. Email them enough and they'll even stop responding. I am a World Elite Mastercard holder with PC, and sorely regret ever becoming entangled with this deplorable company that is incapable of fixing my card link or admitting to any mistakes. As soon as I find a better card I'll happily jump ship.

PC OPTIMUM IS SH***T!!

I just called PC Optimum, AGAIN, for the fifth or sixth time in the past 2 months, regarding an “alleged hacking” of the joint account I have with my wife. Every single time, all I hear is something obviously come out of a pre-written script: “How sorry they are”; “They understand our frustration”; “Their department has our case on top priority”; “They need so long to review it”. Meanwhile, after single-handedly locking our account because “they thought it was being hacked because of the volume of points they saw it was being handled on it” (cause, of course, GOD FORBID they contact the client instead, to rule out an actual interference), and currently locking away close to $200 in points that now we cannot use, all we keep getting is the runaround and BS excuses. I have lost count on how many times I have been expected to change the password, and told “in 2-3 business days expect an answer” (said answer is an e-mail, either them saying the case is closed or with a bunch of snapshots, basically telling me how to change the password, AGAIN).
PC OPTIMUM, YOU ARE SH***T!! YOUR SERVICE IS SH***T!! AND THE PEOPLE YOU HAVE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE IS SH***T!! AND YOU STILL EXPECT US TO PAY YOU 100-SOMETHING DOLLARS A YEAR SO WE CAN COLLECT A BIGGER AMOUNT OF POINTS!! Basically, to rob us off the 100-something dollars and not even give, in return, the service we expect. SOME SERVICE!!

Shoppers/Optimum Don’t Care

Shoppers - it’s a pc optimum problem, we can’t do anything
PC Optimum - it’s a store problem. Wait 2Days then waste another hour to call us back and see if we fixed it
Customer - I’m screwed again !

Optimum is getting to be a big disappointment

Firstly, I do not like the new look that is coming up on my app. What the heck was wrong with the way it was before, it was so much easier to read. The load offers is such a huge joke now. They are forcing you to buy very expensive items in order to gain any points. How does this help the average person trying to get points that can help redeem some of the costs. You are forcing people to buy items that they do not want nor need. There needs to be a review and let people gain some points without having to spend a fortune on food, that basically gains no points.

Can't buy odd amount w/ PC card.

I like a little bit of a discount but I don't like how I can't pay the things of my choosing. Bought pop and donated money for children, but couldn't pay for it with the card because it wasn't $10.

Scam. They won’t let you use your points unless you have 10,000 points. Basically screwing over anyone who has less.
It’s literally fraud.

Post Customer Service

If I could give zero star rating I would! After care customer service is pathetic! All customer service agents are good for is to patronize the customer with just saying nice things but NEVER for one moment thinking outside the box to find a resolution! It seems to be the norm that there is NEVER a resolution with any customer service agent EVER. They are totally pathetic. Having a conversation with AI is probably more rewarding! I just spent $579 on a Dyson Hairdryer between points and cash and not even a day later the hairdryer is $100 less!!!! BUT oh NO the agent advised that they could not do a price adjustment! I could however, send the product back and get credited. That means I can't give the hairdryer as a Christmas gift as intended but sure enough PCoptimum would pay to have the item return to them, process the credit of the cash and points.......This makes NO sense to me but hey, I guess they have business sense limitations. Time to look for another loyalty program!

Clear with all the negative reviews to…

Clear with all the negative reviews to switch to a different points! If you are considered using PC optimum read the reviews. My story, I log into my account and see -112k points about a month ago now. The events leading up to this….Oct 29th, I have 230k points, redeemed 190k, gain another 20k since. Nov 19, return part of the order and redeemed 40k. Couple of days later log in and my point balance is -112k. So ordering (spend $550 plus the 190k points) get 550 back and lose an additional 190 k points plus another 10 k for the return. Deal with customer support and they do graciously give me 40k in points…still -50….how does one even go in the negative. I have lost all those point and any points I have gained since the transaction. So over 200 dollars worth. So in summary, do another point program and if you are PC point member ever NEVER do a return on a point redemption order.

They scam you- I collected points worth…

They scam you- I collected points worth $1250 and suddenly, ‘my account was compromised’ right before a redemption event. I called customer service 3x and no one returned my calls or my email. Then 1 month later I contacted them and got the run around. Next thing you know, I get an email saying I requested to close my account. That never happened… they’re just trying to take the points back. Use your points as soon as you earn them and don’t count on their customer service to help you in any way- they just lie.

so disappointed with this program

so disappointed with this program, submit a redeem on their website reply their email and a copy of a receipt. The amount on the receipt is more than $62 before tax and they told me is less than $50 , I am not qualified. Scan receipt again and ask how they will calculate the amount on the receipt. No reply. Emailed so many times, still no one reply. my case number is 17237788, if I could give 0 points I won't even think about it. Experience is so bad , will try not to go to any of their store.

Can’t express how unimpressed I am.

I have been collecting points for YEARS, previously on the Shoppers card. I’ve redeemed points only once recently ($10 off) when the checkout prompted me, but normally I’m not given the option—which is fine. I was happy just collecting.
Today I FINALLY decided to get the app, and check on my points as Christmas is coming up. Well colour me surprised to see I am just shy of 5000, virtually nothing. HOW? I’ve been collecting for years… and I shop very frequently because I’m close. When I say that this isn’t possible with the amount I’ve spent… just wow.
This used to be one of the best points cards out there. I guess it’s London Drugs from now on.
Disgusted.

If I can give no star I would

If I can give no star I would, pc points redemption is a big scam . Don't get fooled as you spend money on their products and when I want to redeem it as there is an offer for points this week redeem 70k points for hundred dollar they blocked my points for no reason. I call they say will take up to 10 days to be resolved ask to hold the offer the answer is we can't do it.
So don't spend money at their stores as it's a rip off

PC Optimum is allowing me to collect…

PC Optimum is allowing me to collect but I can never redeem. This has been ongoing since August 2022. I had my points stolen and I had my account was locked for months and I could not collect points. I was treated like a criminal by both the PC Optimum staff and some store staff who laughed at me because I could not collect. Finally I got the ability to collect back but I can never redeem and they find that normal. How is it normal to be declined the ability to use my points. It is embarrassing. I get promises of call backs that never come. I get hung up on regulating for trying to resolve this. I have been even been berated by one staff member as called stupid. It's not funny at all. This company is just playing with me and embarrassing me every chance they get. I am able to collect but not use points ever what is the point. How can they do that and why would they do that.

I wouldn’t even give PC Optimum one…

I wouldn’t even give PC Optimum one star. Worst service I have ever experienced. Unfortunately i had several bad experiences and I’m done with PC Optimum. The worst experience was trying to avail for their special redemption event. I save my PC point all year for this event. I went to Shoppers Drug Mart and spent forever picking out products I wanted to purchase/redeem. At the checkout , I used my points but the money valve didn’t deduct from my purchase. So basically I lost my points and if I wanted everything I picked out , I would have to pay the full value . My points are lost. Shoppers Drug Mart couldn’t help, I had to call to correct their mistake. I can’t stress how pissed off I am I’m canceling my PC Optimum card. It’s not worth the stress. It’s not worth fighting over lost points ALL the time. To make matters worse there were two gentlemen in the store, from head office, I saw them before when a shopper drug mart newly opened by me. I spoke to them and they didn’t even say a word to me. Apparently this goes against PC values???? I walked out of the store leaving behind a cart full of items and no points

Wost customer service ever experienc

This is the worst ever customer service ever and totally unprofessional support people sitting on the call. You have to spend an hour atleast to get on a call with them and they only say sorry we do not have access to fix the problem and there is a senior team who will look into it and just drop the call.

I called again spending one more time and asked for the supervisor or some body who can help they agreed that supervision will call and no body called.

Issue : I cannot redeem the PC optimum points and it has been going on this for 6 months . People sitting on the call do not have access to fix any thing and refer to some senior team for call back and senior team or supervisor never respond back . They do not even provide an ETA that how much more time is needed to fix this issue and they just drop the call. Very very unprofessional customer service.
Here is the PC optimum ticket number: 15627999

Website not opening.

Since 11/03/23, for 3 days, have been unable to open their webpage: pcoptimum.ca . It comes up blank, but the Virtual Assistant appears and is responsive. I followed its suggestions (clear cache, switch browsers), but no improvement. Phoned 1-866-727-6468, waited in phone queue for 35 minutes, got "representative" who outright refused to answer this question: "It is known that your website is not opening properly?". She took my member info, and opened a "Case Number", but denied knowing they had a problem. I repeated the phone-in next day, but got exactly the same blank mentality. Background: as a PCOptimum member, I have used the site for 2 years, tracked my points, etc. But now, I don't know if it is their defect, or if maybe my Windows, or Rapport, etc., did an update that crippled access to PCOptimum.ca . Yet why does it open as a blank screen with their Virtual Assistant operating?

Consistently awful customer service

I have had to contact customer service a number of times over the years due to missing points. Typically they take a long time to respond and then ask you for more details, fine except that they were already provided. Other times they ask for every item that has points in your order and given I am purchasing a lot online and not recording this, I have no clue - this when you just need to reach a total $ amount to get bonus points. Points are missing on every order and you will not get them. Once you reply you are ghosted and they will never have a mgr respond. On the phone it is the same thing coupled with overt rudeness. There is no accountability and there is no recourse. I rarely shop at SDM or Loblaws as a result.
