I have been a loyal customer for 11 years, and paid thousands in premiums, yet as soon as you need to claim they double your premiums. My insurance increased to £216 per month. After paying thousands over the years you get hammered with huge premium hikes just when your pet actually needs care, I have had to cancel my insurance as I can’t afford to pay it any longer. I would not recommended this company.

I chose the highest cover for my dog and they were great when we needed to claim (3 in total), over the years our policy kept doubling and i financially couldnt afford £200 a month this year I asked if it was possible to change my cover to one lower so he still had insurance they said it wouldn't cover previous claims even though I was going to stay with the same company just different policy. It's a shame they have doubled the cost of insurance and people like me can't afford to pay that amount so much for thinking about the animals. Would not recommend insuring your dog with them!

I needed to change from the annual payments to monthly and so I decided to use the live chat. This was extremely fast and efficient and within five minutes were sorted. Would certainly recommend using this service to anybody who is unsure.

After a few years, my dog's insurance policy increased by over 230%. This year, it's another 100%. In two years, the increase went from £120 to £580. There's nothing I can do on the website because it doesn't work (it's full of errors). I gave them a cancellation notice seven days before renewal, and they didn't have time to cancel it without debiting my account. They took over £580, and I hope I won't have to wait too long for a refund because more bills are coming... unprofessional.

For 20yrs i have had excellent service from pet protect. Yes my policy payments increased over the years but that comes with having an elderly pet. When it mattered most in the last years there was never a problem. The claim went in and was delt with very promptly. When our cat reached a time in his life where we decided he would not relieve any more invasive care I was going to cancel my policy. My vet said to me "I dont know how you got that policy but don't ever cancel it,I've never seen a policy like it" Tabby had another 5yrs with us and when the time came to say goodbye pet protect paid our bill and even sent condolence card. Those little things mean the world when you are grieving. Thank
