I’ve been using Poparide for quite some time now — first as a passenger and now sometimes as a driver. It’s an excellent platform for easy, affordable, and reliable travel. Hosting rides has been a great way to share fuel costs and meet amazing people along the way. Highly recommend it for anyone who loves travelling smart and connecting with good company!

Honestly, PopARide is a great app for riders and drivers. You get multiple choices and different times. You can message drivers before booking anything if you have any questions. You can also book instantly with some drivers. This has helped me a lot with everything else being so expensive!

Formal Request for Copy of All Personal Data – Poparide Account

Dear Poparide Privacy Officer,

I am unable to contact you on email as you are sending me bot responses. This is my only mechanism to get any responses from your dismal operations. You don't offer any way to contact or download a copy of my personal data on your website or through the app. There are no phone numbers where I can call.

I am formally exercising my right under applicable privacy and data protection laws to request a complete copy of all personal data that Poparide has collected, stored, or processed about me.

This request includes, but is not limited to:

My account profile and registration details

Ride history as driver and/or passenger

Messages, reviews, and ratings associated with my account

Payment and transaction records

Technical and device data linked to my account

Any information shared with third parties

All internal notes or logs referencing my account

In addition, I require disclosure of:

The purposes for which my data has been processed

The categories of third parties with whom my data has been shared

The retention schedule for my data

For the avoidance of doubt, this request is comprehensive and applies to all systems and databases under Poparide’s control.

I expect confirmation of receipt of this request without delay and a complete response within the legal timeframe required under privacy law.

Failure to comply with this request will leave me with no choice but to escalate the matter to the appropriate privacy commissioner or regulatory authority.

I have been using this app for over 3 years now. Makes intercity travel economical, easy, flexible and convenient. Totally worth it!

Poparide makes it easy to move between different cities. It is faster than traveling on a regular bus, and the fares are reasonable.

Poparide has really helped me get back home often (from Ottawa to Toronto) since the Greyhound shut down. Train prices are through the roof so this is an affordable alternative. I've also made a complaint about crazy driving before and Poparide responded to my complaint quickly. Using this platform also means that the drivers don't ghost me at pickup, which has happened to me many times through the in rideshares on Kijiji.

This app is a game changer for me. I normally travel to Ottawa alone in my car. Now I drop with people making the journey more enjoyable.

As a carpooling driver I like the application because it gives all the freedom to approve or not.

This company applies its own policies arbitrarily. There are no warnings and even if you have good ratings, your account can get suspended or deactivated without notice. Passengers aren't verified and it is dangerous. Unlike a carpool app which should require you to have a set pickup/dropoff point in a city, they allow you to post entire cities as pickup/dropoff addresses which makes it more like a pseudo unlicensed taxi service. You constantly get messages from random people asking to pay cash or pick them up despite clear instructions already posted. No phone support and only chat support which is based out of Mexico and is super delayed. They reposnd in 2 weeks or more to messages as per their own notifications.

Note: Replies here by poparide are within an hour but on the app you are warned that replies can take 2 weeks or longer. Also they don't actually notify you about your account suspension, you discover it only when you login.
The worst part is that the support is not local and they barely know how to comprehend policies let alone apply or communicate them. And you can't get anyone on the phone to sort things out unlike on kanga ride. It's unacceptable based ont he premiums they charge both the passenger and the driver.
