Do not EVER take RENFE!

Do not EVER take RENFE! All you need to know is that it is owned by the government. So I expected it to be terrible. But I could not have expected just how horrible it would be. First of all, the ticket was grossly overpriced. Which would be ok, if the trains actually ran on schedule. Which they absolutely do not!

My intercity express (very funny!) train was schedule for 2.5 hours. Already pretty slow, but ok. Problem is that the train was delayed by an hour, then by 1.5 hours, then by 2 hours. This is on a bright, sunny weekday! Absolutely zero reason why a train should be delayed!

Meanwhile, I'm freezing my ass off in the open air shack that passes for a train station in Spain!

Do yourself a favor and fly. Don't ever take the RENFE trains. What a waste of Spanish (and EU) taxpayer funds!

Renfe : poor service guaranteed

Punctuality awful,
People just jump the barriers in barcelona in front of the staff - who are helpful but don’t enforce any rules…
It’s a classic situation of a poor service that people don’t respect, so they don’t pay, so the service remains poor etc…
What a shame in these times of high oil prices.
I’m sure Putin and Saudi Arabia etc are very pleased with this pathetic service which encourages everyone to use their cars.
I hate to say it, but it’s an advertisement for privatisation, as at present it’s not fit for purpose..

I am travelling from Benalmadena to…

I am travelling from Benalmadena to Fuengirola andi found a back pack on one sit and no one there, so i look for securities but there were no one and i call emergency and the woman just cut off the conversation as if she doesn't care.
What if that bag is a bomb? Unbelievable !

At breakdown point

It is honestly the worst website to book train tickets ever. It keeps crashing, difficult to navigate, customer service super unhelpful, keep getting errors...It is a shame the actual train service is very good.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience, and lack of care for its customers. I got sold a ticket at Barcelona-Sants without an information that it leaves from Sant Andreu – therefore was not able to make it for that train as I got sold a ticket for one that would leave in 20 minutes. I wasn’t given an exchange of my ticket or my money back.

This website never seems to work…

This website never seems to work properly! Year after year and it is just as ineffective as usual. It's difficult to believe that a means of transportation used by so many people in the whole country continues having such a mediocre website.

Extremely worst

Extremely worst, delayed and missed connections and never found seat reservation when you travel by Interrail.
I don’t recommend take train In spain if you have interrail tickets.

Please just move bookings to online

With my eurail pass I couldn't do the seat bookings online, so had to do it in person. Each time I had to wait at least 2 hours at the train station to get the paper ticket, taking time out of my limited days in each city to sit at a train station for hours waiting. Everyone else has tickets and seat reservations available online, doesn't seem that hard for renfe to move online too... Taken many journeys in Spain (at least 4), and only once was my wait less than 2 hours.

Renfe is a s*h*i*t. Renfe services are the worst for clients . They do not how to treat people. Use the company OUI GO , they are nicer to client and the service is better.
Son unos sinvergüenzas , no saben tratar al cliente , son irrespetuosos , no tienen empatía y no entienden ni de lejos que el cliente es lo principal

Traveling with no A/C

We traveled from Barcelona to Vitoria. It was a hot day and there was no A/C. I guess they did not want to turn it on... everyone on the train was complaining. It was very uncomfortable. Based on this experience, I don't recommend traveling with renfe.

ALWAYS LATE

I take the local trains almost everyday from Barcelona sants and they are late 80% of the time. Personally it puts me and other people with time sensitive commitments in a tight situation.

It's way too cold in the spanish trains! I get sick every single time, which sucks when you're on your holidays. Nobody needs 22° in a train. Nobody.

Helpful staff after making a mistake

The trains are very comfortable and the staff very polite and welcoming. The ticket that we bought required us to make a train change in Madrid. We didn't know that there were two types of areas in the train station, one for long-distance trains and one for internal trains, confused the lines and missed the train by a few minutes.
We went to the information center and received new tickets for the next train leaving, without paying any additional fee. As a bonus we received seats in first class. Boarding the train was quick and comfortable, the train came and left on time. Because the train boarding was assisted, the platforms weren't overcrowded, which was also a nice change from what we were used to when getting on trains.
