Why are the Royal Mail allowed to…

Why are the Royal Mail allowed to provide such a disgusting service and get away with it??
Bought an item on the 13th July from not far from my address. Item was estimated 2 to 3 days tracked delivery. It's the 24th now and no sign! No information on tracking whatsoever. I'm going to have to contact the seller now and cancel to get my money back which means lost sales to him.
This is not an isolated case either. I find this quite a regular occurrence when using this service.

Royal Mail admitted the delivery was not attempted but initially marked “No Answer”

I am very disappointed with Royal Mail's service.
I stayed at home all day waiting for my parcel because I had deliberately cleared my schedule to receive it. My building requires visitors to use the intercom to gain access.
At around 6:00 pm, I saw a Royal Mail vehicle enter my street, turn around and leave. I did not see the driver park, get out of the vehicle, approach my building or use the intercom. Shortly afterwards, I received a tracking update stating "Delivery attempted  No answer."
Nobody buzzed my flat or attempted to contact me.
This was the second time I experienced this type of issue, meaning I had wasted two days waiting at home for deliveries that were later marked as failed attempts.
I eventually received my parcel the following day, but that was never the main issue. The main issue was the inaccurate delivery scan.
Following my formal complaint, Royal Mail investigated and confirmed in writing that the parcel had been scanned incorrectly. They confirmed that the correct scan should have been "Delivery Not Attempted", not "No Answer."
I appreciate that Royal Mail apologised and said the matter has been addressed locally. However, this means the tracking information incorrectly suggested that I was unavailable when I was actually at home waiting for the delivery.
Customers deserve accurate tracking information and genuine delivery attempts. I hope Royal Mail takes this seriously and ensures that other customers do not experience the same frustration.

How loooong………….shall this go on for:(

Don’t ever raise ur hopes when it comes to ‘Royal’ Mail & their appalling service. Couldn’t tell which one takes the cake more between them & Evri. They’re both neck to neck.

24hr tracked package meant to be delivered today (Thursday) between 10:55- 14:55 pm still shows in transit & will be delivered today.
Eventually called them up only to be told they may deliver up until 19:00 pm. After some research only to find out their cut-off times are 16:30 pm & on busy days 18:00 pm. A day wasted but again it’s ‘Royal’ Mail so shouldn’t have raised my hopes anyway:(

Our postie is wonderful

Our postie is wonderful, and living here in the Scottish Highlands, we depend on him a lot, because other services like Evri and DHL do not operate in this area. Yes, things often take a day or two extra to arrive, but we can cope with that, at least they do arrive (sometimes a person not in the know will send to us by Evri and no they never arrive). We have great personal service as the postie is known to everyone and he knows, because he asks and somehow remembers, where to leave a parcel, in your back garden shed, in your porch, in the wood shed, with a certain neighbour. An absolutely wonderful service that we depend upon here, even to remote islands, couldn't manage without him.

Excellent service

Excellent service. Always delivers on time and near my door, not just in the lobby on the ground floor like all other companies.
Overall, compared to all the other delivery companies I’ve dealt with, they’re simply the best.

The sender has advised they have despatched your item to Royal Mail.
More information will be available once we have received your item and scanned it into our network.

Incompetent, unreliable and potentially dishonest

I ordered a mobile phone which had to be signed for on delivery which was due to be delivered to my home address on 22 Jul 26. On realising that I would not be in for the delivery, I went online and changed my delivery preference to have it left at the local post office for pickup. Despite this, I was notified that the parcel had been delivered to my home. 'Proof' of delivery comprised a photo of one of my bins (not including the actual parcel) along with a fictitious signature from someone called 'DWS' acknowledging receipt; there is no such person resident at my address. I can only conclude that Royal Mail staff couldn't be bothered to redirect my parcel as requested, so simply dumped it in a bin and fabricated a receipt signature to satisfy their delivery system. The fact that I received the package at all is down to blind luck, and I will no longer order merchandise from any supplier that uses this incompetent, unreliable and potentially dishonest organisation as a courier.

Using their APP tried to track delivery

Using their APP tried to track delete very item as a 4 hour slot was too long to wait. Thought tracking might get more detail - no such thing. Further details when tracking is just a blank page with the notice tracking info is up to date. So slow compared to
other delivery companies

Been waiting for a card that was sent…

Been waiting for a card that was sent from a company 10 days ago, still hasn't arrived. By the time I send it on it will be too late.if our post person is off ill or on holiday the round isn't covered. Update: had to go up to sorting office to collect post and it was there with a bill posted a few days before that. 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Poor job

I’m extremely disappointed with the delivery service. On multiple occasions, I have received notifications claiming that no one answered the door, despite the fact that I was home every single time. It genuinely feels as though no proper delivery attempt was made at all.

To make matters worse, I had a designated safe place for my parcel, yet I was informed that it could not be left there. This is frustrating, especially when I have followed the correct process by providing a safe place in advance.

The repeated failed delivery claims, lack of communication, and inconsistency in using the nominated safe place have made this a very poor experience. I expect delivery drivers to actually attempt delivery before marking a parcel as undeliverable.

⭐ 1 Star

⭐ 1 Star – Redirection Paid for 3 Years, Never Received a Single Item

We have paid Royal Mail for a redirection service for three years and have not received a single piece of redirected mail in all that time. Not one.

We have missed important documents, including voter registration letters, which led to council staff turning up at our door. We even went into the Hayle office in person to try to get this resolved, and still nothing has been done.

Royal Mail has failed to provide the service we paid for, failed to investigate properly, and failed to communicate. Three years of payments for a service that has never been delivered is unacceptable. Sadly, as they have the monopoly on redirection, we are screwed and have no choice but to keep paying for NO service and no help?!!

We are now demanding a full refund and a proper resolution. This level of negligence is shocking. ROYAL MAIL - #12461187

If I could give minus points I would

If I could give minus points I would . I have spent a very annoying 3 days going round in circles on the automated services. Finally got a number to speak to a human and wait time was 40 mins which took us past opening hours so cut off.
I had a card left and I arranged delivery to a post office pick up point ,next day they still tried to deliver to my house , again rearranged delivery to post office only to get a email to say the location address is incorrect ( selected it on royal mail app ) them it tells me it can't be rearranged but doesn't tell me location of parcel so can't go collect from depot either.
More battles online and I think I've now arranged for Saturday to a different post office . We shall see... No email confirmation. App not updated. I needed this parcel urgently am now it's been a week of using lunch hours to chase
And the app itself doesn't work half the time so have to call and go through robots

Beyond useless.

Beyond useless.
Parcels left outside in a grit bin because the postie can’t be arsed to use the intercom.
Today a parcel has been taken to a Post Office because the postie couldn’t find us!
