We are now into our 3rd year of using Sharesight for three share portfolios, including our SMSF Account.
The app is convenient to use, and is regularly updated with revisions that improve efficiency of recording and managing trades, income, and reporting. Great for tracking holdings and for taxation purposes.
For us the Sharesight App represents good value for money and has considerably improved our portfolio record keeping.
Before using Sharesight, I found it difficult to track my investments over time frames different from the initial investment date, and it was difficult to monitor the performance of equities I had sold. Bank reports only provided returns from the initial date, which caused me to lose track of my investment performance. Using Excel files was time consuming and error prone. Now, with Sharesight, I have a much better understanding of my overall performance. Although I still can't track all my holdings, such as certain mutual funds and European government bonds, it works well for my primary investments in ETFs and Euro/US stocks.
Very frustrating and time-consuming trying to confirm past dividends and purchases to bring my portfolio data up to date.
Entering data via a form is very slow. A grid update screen would be much easier and more efficient
I keep needing to expand the list for older dividends.
The calculated values are often slightly wrong possibly due to rounding errors
Dividend reinvestment doesn't seem to account for the residual that carries over to the next dividend payment
With 3 portfolios and over 50 different securities it will take me a very long time to be able to use Sharesight as the source for record keeping.
I have been using Sharesight for 12 months now and still I am nowhere near getting data up-to-date
For the price I pay the customer support should be more accesible and quicker. It is also a bit slow to impact on the platform the modifications I make on my brokers. It is also a bit disapointing that I can not link Coinspot with this platform...
Information is incorrect and assistance from emails didn’t fix the problem.
Does not up date. Request refund
it gives us all the information we want and its easy to use and understand.
1) Need a portfolio view with cost preferably on a per parcel basis 2) Need a better consolidated view of multiple portfolios. 3) Need a better. Way to get new clients onto your system than by downloading all contract notes - for instance I had been a client on another platform and all my cost bases had already been adjusted - so now I only “half use” your system and keep looking round for a better one 4) why do all dividends have to be confirmed - surely on Aussie listed stocks the reverse should be used - ie all dividends should be assumed correct and only if not then the client should adjust himself?! I don’t suppose these comments will be read anyway! Bye
Website difficult to navigate. Difficult to edit holdings. Company can't be bothered to respond to emails
Positives: works well to collate and organise trades and is helpful during tax time.
Negatives: platform is clunky and expensive.
I have been using Sharessight for a number of years to manage my Australian and US shares. It is a user-friendly tool, anticipates in advance all dividends to be paid, tracks all shares and dividends, accounts for forex impacts, and assess overall portfolio profitability. The tax reports are very useful for tax reporting and includes CGT calculations. I highly recommend Sharesight for managing your shares.
Using Sharesight has saved me weeks of work preparing tax returns. Working out the cost of sold shares going back decades using spreadsheets was getting too hard - Sharesight made it so easy.
I have been using Sharesight for over 10 years. It has provided clarity with regard to monitoring performance of my portfolio together with reporting for tax. The continuing upgrades over this period have really contributed to what is now an excellent product and incredibly useful to me. Highly recommended and value for money !!
International Shares dividends are converted to AU$ always with the wrong exchange rate. I would find it more useful to not convert to AU$, just show the home currency amount and taxes as they apply. I will do the conversion when the relevant exchange rate is known.
Sharesight is amazing software, It makes it so easy to keep track of all your shares in your portfolio. Especially at tax time.
I had a little problem with import of NAB orders but the service advice I received fixed the issue. It's a NAB problem not yours which was good to know. I've always found the Sharesight team very helpful whenever I have had to get some assistance.
Sharesight is a simple to use record of my share holdings. It's great that I can run reports for my US holdings as well as for local holdings. I'm probably not using it to its full advantage but am happy with the program so far.
